RE: Cost of glow fuel
Where do you get the nitro with free shipping, Amazon? What are the ratios to make fuel? I run 15% is my 2 cycles and 20/20 in all my four cycles. As long as I use clean containers that seal well, mixing up fuel doesn't seem all that difficult... But I could be wrong... Thanks, Bill S.

RE: Resurrecting a Duellist 2/40
Happens to all of us. I moved a few years ago and last year I flew the only plane I had airworthy anytime I went to the field. Finally getting other planes redone so it should be a multi plane year for me! Bill S.

RE: Goldberg Extra 300
I used TNT gear on my CG Ultimate and they are nice so its a no brainer to use them plus the 'glass cowl from Stans (now Fibertech N More). Also picked up a framed but unfinished CG Sukhoi and it will get the same engine/landing gear/'glass package, when I get another DLE... Looking forward to finishing it now! Thanks all for the info!! RE: Goldberg Extra 300
Recently got one of these planes framed up but unfinished. Was planning a DLE 20 in it, but I also have an OS 120 Surpass with pump and a YS 120 looking for a home. leaning to the gasser as it will less expensive to fly later. What are you guys putting the CG? where is called for? What about Air/Elev throws? What about the stock landing gear? Use it or go with an aftermarket one, if one is still made today. Not keen on that balsa glued to the skinny wires look... Thanks, Bill S.

Futaba 9C on 72mhz for all my planes (nitro and gas powered) and a Spectrum DX6i for all my electric helsi, 120SR as there is no other option. When I move to a 450 class (and eventually glow) I will probably keep it on the DX6i as well. Bill S.

Ed, What engine do you have in the 120 ARF? I have one NIB and am not sure what eninge to use. With it being so large, gas would be my #1 choice. Also wondering just how acrobatic it is... Thanks, Bill S.

RE: Gas vs Nitro thoughts & etc
Well, if it works, the cost to run it is one main think. $25-30 a gallon glow fuel vs. $4 for gas. I think there will be less stress on the drive train with the gas engine vs. the nitro one. What they do with gearing will be interesting due the different power levels of the two engines. gas should run longer on the same amount of fuel, always a plus! For those that want all out performance, nitro should have the edge but we will see. I'm slowing going to gas powered planes, and would love to add gas powered cars/trucks to my collection! It's also nice to see a vehicle labeled as 'gas' that actually RUNS on gas, not nitro!! Bill S.

So, you want to go big huh??? How about 1/3rd!???
Mammuth Rewarron The world’s first 1:3 scale production R/C car! It’s a pure beast, powered by a 110cc 4 stroke engine with 6.5 HP and 7 Nm torque and about 70km/h top speed. Running weight more than 100 kg with the size: 1850mm x 900mm x 750mm! It’s almost 2 meters long! On-board touch screen controller to adjust the brake balance, real ABS, traction control sensitivity and there is more! RE: Which Iron ?
+1 for the Coverite iron. Been using one for more then ten years and I love it. much better then standard iron Tower sells. Get several socks for it. They do make a difference IMO. Also, I use a Top Flight Trim Seal tool for all edges... http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXHZ28&P=7 I use the small iron to tack all the edges then go over the large areas with the standard iron, then use a heat gun for the final shrink. RE: What do you use to clean your monokote?
For almost twenty years ai have used 50/50 Simple Green and water. For the hell of it I am now using Krud Kutter, also 50/50 with water. (was in Lowes and read an online review of it) Krud Kutter seems to work a bit better then big Green. Simple and cheap. Bill S.

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
ORIGINAL: sandyjain Bill I never said That I do not use an optokill - I said I use an RcEXL one. I use Life batts. That have 2 Futaba /JR type plugs. 1 goes to the Rx switch and the other to the CDi switch. The out wire of th CDi switch has the diode. The diode wire of the switch then goes into the optokill and then onwards to the CDi. Hence the battery is isolated from the CDi and so is the Rx. 2.4 Ghz systems are inherently less prone to interference. I use the 1 battery system for only upto 20cc engines/ models. Beyond 20cc or models with digital servos, should be run with 2 batts. May be even redundant/ 2nd battery for the Rx.
In your message dated 8/10/12 you did not mention any type of optokill... "A dedicated battery is not necessary at all. I run my smaller gassers - dle20 - with just 1 batt feeding the Rx n CDi. What I like to do is to have 2 swithes....1 fr Rx n other fr CDi. In the wire fom the switch to the CDi I attach the diode. And yes this works for Life only. for LiPo you will need more diodes, in which case an Ibec may be better. But I will highly reccomend Lfe for CDi as they give a constant voltage over 80% of their life." In the end I was just wondering if there any RF issues doing that. I know there are the types who HAVE to use all the new devices just because. I prefer the KISS system anytime I can! I do not fly 2.4 ghz (which is why I was asking about RF noise) and I see no reason to change at this time. And with some club members making the switch, there is even less reason (for me) to spend the $$. I have been flying since '87 and only crashed twice due to radio issues. Both times my fault, not the radio itself. Crashed a lot of times over the years actually! lol As I'm not aiming for a 3D type plane for my 20, i will probably run separate batteries and not worry about the extra weight. On my DLE30 powered Cap, I plan on running two batteries for the RX and one for the cdi. I do like the idea of using a Life battery with a diode (or two) for the voltage drop. Nice and simple! Thanks, BIll S.

RE: NEW DLE 20cc Gasser! (Data & Links 1st Post)
I have no problem understanding the setup, all of them. My question was, IF you feed the CDI AND the RX via one battery, without some sort of an isloater, isnt there a chance of ignition noise causing interference with the RX? IE, noise feeding back from the CDI box into the RX via a commen battery connection. Thats all.... I have only run my DLE 30 on a stand so far, so this part of the hobby is very new to me, though I have been flying since '87. Bill S.
