RE: *!STORM LAUNCHER!*
ORIGINAL: ski4six New here...PROBLEM: When my battery gets low, I get about five to ten seconds of power then both motors shut off (not the elevator), is that normal??
That is normal , time for a recharge. It's best to land before you let the battery get that low as the motors can shut off in flight. Normal flight time will be only about 5 to 6 minutes max in the air.

RE: Mini SL motor problem
The throttle delay only happens when the throttle is first applied, but not after. Only if you pull the throttle all the way off should there be a delay in throttling back up again. if you maintain a small amount of throttle the delay should be vary minimal. This can help you preform certain stunts however. For instance, while flying at altitude, it you hold the steering full over , then pull the throttle all the way off, then back to full, while still holding over on the steering, the one motor keeps going and the other one stops. Because of the delay, the one motor goes to full throttle right away while the other one has the delay to get up to speed. This will make the Mini Sl do a complete roll very quickly[8D]

RE: Mini storm launcher
ORIGINAL: birchbaybill Well okay. Has someone flown one of these bad boys? Is it worth $80? My experience is that anything advertised on TV is bad news.
You must be talking about the full size Storm Launcher (battery NOT included). The Mini Storm Launcher is only $40 (battery included)and there is not a commercial for those. If you would like to know more about the Storm Launcher then you would ever what to know, I did a search for you on RCgroups on the many many threads about it here. >[link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/search.php?searchid=9253224&pp=25]Storm Launcher Search[/link]<. RE: Mini storm launcher
Sometime you have to jiggle the wire or turn it on and off a few times to get the light to come on. >[link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=6590306&postcount=7]here[/link]< is a post about the mini and it mentions the extra wires that go directly to the battery. You can attach a regular charge plug to those wires and charge it from a regular charger if you have one. It is a single cell 300 mAh Lipo by the way, so you will have to have a charger that can charge a single cell at that rate or lower.

RE: Stormlauncher ES: Exploratory Surgery
ORIGINAL: RLCypher THX. I was pleasently suprised (but a little disappointed) to see how you don't have to rip it open to fix it. I rsoldered the joint and it flew perfectly, maybe even better than before[:D]. But now, I have a diffirent problem. I broke both right props (it's always the right props, never the left props[:@]). So, I'm grounded AGAIN.[&o]
Well, Since you already know how to get the the solder joints on the motors, switch the wires on the right motor so that it runs the other direction. This will make it run back wards, or the same way as the other motor. Then just install two left props. It will fly just fine and the difference will hardly be noticeable. In the mean time, you can call [link=http://www.spinmaster.com/spinHq/customerCare/customerCareContactUs.jsp]Spinmasters customer service [/link] and they have the SL props for sale.

RE: Stormlauncher ES: Exploratory Surgery
ORIGINAL: RLCypher Hey there! I saw storm launcher in this section, so this must be the right place. Honestly, the SL is the most fun of the (5 types of) planes I've flown. I recently crashed mine and the right motor quit (broken solder joint?), so for now, I'm grounded.[:o] However... My mom's rules include "Don't you dare rip stuff up if it still works."[:D] Even as I type this my hair is turning white and spikey as I cackel with mad(scientist)ness. Time for some surgery!!! I like the SL the way it is (pardon, was), so here is my question: What is the least intrusive way to dissect the storm launcher? The ideal method would result in me being able to reassemble it with some tacky-glue and scotch tape. I'm like seriously bummed out MAN, help a dude out. Please[:D]
There have been a few that have broken the solder joint. It's not hard to fix. I have a guide on getting to the motors >[link=http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=5900774&postcount=895]here[/link]<. You don't have to remove them completely like in the pictures, just enough to get to the solder joint.

RE: Storm Launcher!
ORIGINAL: Stelth3d I am new to RCs and bought a SL a week ago. Its really cool but of course I have a problem. I can't get the elevator to work consistantly. I have to help it move up and down and then its fine for a few seconds then nothing. I tried to see if there was any faom getting in the way but it looked clean. I bought it off of Ebay. My buddy bought one also from the same person and it works just fine. He got the orange one and i got the yellow one. It runs and operates normal otherwise. I think I read on here about loosening the screw on the servo for the elevator and retightening. I just wanted to know if there was anybody else that had this problem and fixed it somehow? Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance.
It sounds like it has a problem with the electronic board. If you want to take it apart , you can check to see if it has a loose plug or wire too the servo. Even if you can't return it to Ebay it does have a warranty through spinmasters. Call there customer support and in most cases they will tell you to break off a chunk of foam off it (to render it useless), and ship the foam chunk to them , and they will send you a completely new unit to replace it with. Best of luck, sorry yours had a problem.

RE: Show Us Your Aero Ace Custom Builds
Here is my AA hydro. Used stock AA gear but had to go to slightly larger pager motors to get it to take off from the ground. Never tried it off water as I don't think in would have had near enough power to over come the water "sticktion". Flew real nice though and could be flown easily in a small gym. I made the battery inside adjustable on a slider to change the CG. This and adjusting the elevator trim would greatly effect the speed and how sharp it would turn.

RE: *!STORM LAUNCHER!*
ORIGINAL: trinogt Those baby Storm Launchers look like they operate similar to the 'XTwins' aircraft my boys each have... Push props, no elevator... The XTwins we have are the biplane style, which apparently fly better than the momo configuration. They also use the transmitter to charge, and are a breeze to fly. Great trainer for the SL! My boys are 5 and 9 and fly these things great. Oh, and don't worry about crashes; They really don't carry enough mass to damage in a collision. Sit on one, or accidentally set something against it, and they will bend undesireably. (ask me how I know! lol) They fly in very light breezes, but a stronger wind will carry them away. They glide to the ground when power or signal is lost. I love my Storm Launcher! I was frustrated at first until I got the elevator trim set right. It would head for a nose dive when the right stick was in neutral position, such as right after take-off. I got the hang of it now as a first time RC flyer, and it is awesome! It does break, but easy to fix. Glad to see an inventor in this forum! Good job on this product! Top notch, and low $$$! How much can one make selling this idea to a major company? Just curious! lol Mark in Florida
HI[:)] They are very similar in the control of the X twin (Aero Ace), but do require a larger space to fly in. As far as selling the idea, we get royalty's, ( very small percentage) so it's based on product sales. But don't think I'm here to bring up sales, Sales from forum members barely make up 2 percent of Air Hogs total sales, including RCgroups (where I hang out the most). I'm just here to try and help others out if they have problems with there stuff, and I have been in this hobby since birth basically.[;)]

RE: *!STORM LAUNCHER!*
ORIGINAL: m3pgi wow those mini sl's look fun! what type of ca do u guys recommend. can i use gorrila glue
Yes, there are pretty fun and basically unbreakable (Almost). Ca works but you must use the foam safe type and the accelerator to dry it. It's not cheap though and makes for a brittle repair. I like using hot glue to repair EPP foam. It's cheap, but you can't let the glue get to hot if you use the high temps gun/glue. it can melt the foam from the heat. If the glue gun has been sitting for awhile I will squeeze out the first part that is real hot to get to the cooler stuff. Gorilla Glue works fine also, but the repair does show up some as the glue is a amber color, and it expands slightly. Dries kinda slow unless you apply a little water on one side of the foam, but the repair is very durable.

RE: *!STORM LAUNCHER!*
Don't know if you guys here have seen the New Mini Storm Launchers that are coming out late January/ February. Two channel, ten step throttle, bang bang steering with trim controls. No elevator. Very easy to fly. Takes off from ground and has small wheels, It does NOT take off from water unfortunately. But it is fun to drive around. Chargers built into the transmitter and the battery's built into the Hydro. Very similar to the AA transmitter but this one will steer with the throttle off. Ready to fly for around $40[8D] Total length is 12 inches long and they weigh 2 oz's. There will be two versions available , a molded black one and a molded white one.

RE: Storm launcher problem..!!???
ORIGINAL: FLAVORS I bought a storm launcher 2 hours ago (whit no battery), i said to my self i will save some money and use my lipo from my eflite blade cx 7.4 800mah (i have 3 of them), worked for about 3 min full throttle and then i had to restart the SL every 10 sec... what the problem ? if its a batterie problem , how many time its supose to work (whit the Air hog lipo) and does it reset when lipo is about to get too low (Air hog lipo)? Thank you
The Blade CX battery is only a 10C battery, and only good for 8 amps continuous. The stock storm Launcher can pull over 10 amps at full throttle. Therefore the Blade CX battery's are not powerful enough to do the job. The stock storm Launcher battery is a 15C 740 mah, good for about 11 amps. You should get about 5 to 6 minutes of flight time with the stock battery, with some throttle management. Then the LVC will kick in and shut it off. You can restart it again and use low throttle to drive it back to shore, but full throttle will shut it off again till the battery is recharged. A very popular after market battery for the storm Launcher is the [link=http://2dogrc.com/ecommerce/os/catalog/dualsky-lipoly-battery-p-1967.html]Dualsky 20C 7.4v 730mah[/link]. It is a little lighter and more powerful then the stock battery.

RE: storm launcher stunts
ORIGINAL: googledperson whats a hammerhead turn and how do i roll?
A hammer head stall is when you make a hard right or left hand turn right at the point the aircraft is pointing straight up and is about to stall, It will snap around hard and come back down, like a tight U turn in the sky. To roll you will need plenty of altitude and plenty of speed, then pull the throttle back to half and go full over on the right stick without using any elevator. This will make one motor go to full throttle and the other one stop completely. That should spin the SL pretty fast. Its best to check the needed throttle position on the ground to find the spot to hold the throttle to make the motors do this correctly. Expect to lose a lot of altitude so make sure your up high when you try[8D]

It does loops (backflips really), rolls (but there tricky to do), Tail slides , hammer head stall turns, It will hover in a slight head wind. It will Fly inverted if your good. Most of that stuff is only really easy to do if you remove the prop guards and the upper horizontal. That makes it much more maneuverable. RE: *!STORM LAUNCHER!*
ORIGINAL: m3pgi this is a really dumb question but what does "CA" stand for when you guys are talking about repairing your SL?? Im guessing some type of glue??
CA stands for Cyanoacrylate Adhesive, or super glue. There is special made stuff just for foam as regular CA melts foam. It very expensive though and make the foam brittle especially EPP foam that the SL is made from. I like to Use Hot glue when repairing mine . It is very cheap and dries quick . Some others like to use Gorilla glue. Its flexible like Hot glue but take longer to dry and has a off color to it, but doesn't melt the foam like Hot glue can if you let it sit to long and get too hot.

RE: *!STORM LAUNCHER!*
When you fly in Novice mode, The turning radius will decrease dramatically if you back off the throttle some while trying to turn. Also, novice mode does not work very well on windy days as the boat just tries to point into the wind and wont have enough steering to turn unless you back way off the throttle, which can be hard to do if your fighting the wind in the first place. I tend to fly in pro mode most of the time unless I am just tooling around on calm days. And I will usually land in novice to help prevent it from accidentally flipping it over , cause when your landing , you have to back way off the throttle, and then it becomes very touchy indeed.

There have been a couple of cases where a wire broke lose from the motor. Some of them , the soldering job is not that great. To check it, if you don't return it, remove the tape around the motor housing and bend down the plastic. Then re-tape it with clear tape. Pic below should help. -------------

RE: Air Hogs Flight Simulator Sucks
It use to be much better when you could hit a view key and go from behind the plane to standing in place like your really flying it. It was much more realistic then. That was a beta version that I got to try out. Then when they finally released it. They removed that function, which made it totally useless in my opinion. And the SL is very far off from the real thing. The Aero Aces weren't to bad with the other view. But flying behind them his just stupid and pointless. I mean , who runs around and stays behind there airplane the whole time? You can right click on the screen and click full screen, which is better, But the frame goes through the middle of the screen then[:o]
