New ARTF Mosquito - Is there a Market?
very well if done right... Thanks guys, Wayne B (UK Warbird Man)...There is talk by a certain manufacturer that distributes here in the UK and in the US of a new ARTF... despite certain pressure from the UK the feeling is that there has to be a viable market to make... that the Mosquito is as much loved inthe US as it is in the UK! There is also the question over which type? Bomber

RE: YT (ESM) 50cc Spitfire
Thats why I asked what cockpit kit you were using...I agree for most it will do but in my opinion the seat sits too high in the cockpit and looks totally wrong. Maybe using the correct sclae pilot but just having it half body would be an option. I do a lot of YT / ESM Kits and where as I welcome the cockpit kits because they add some depth for the average modeller. A couple of years ago I did a detailed cockpit for my Dauntless. I had the same choice between making it full depth or going for a halfwy house. In the end I went for a halfway house and ran the closed loop under the seat and cheated by making it look like it was full depth. My YT hurricane had the close loop system actually running through the cockpit and all I had to do was move the Servos fwd slightly the cable added to the real look of the cockpit floor. Up to the individual I guess but I hope the kits do well. Wayne

RE: YT (ESM) 50cc Spitfire
ORIGINAL: fockewulf37 It it great that there are plenty of options out there. When I was doing a cockpit I tried both a 1/5 scale and 1/6th scale pilot. The 1/5 I had was really cramped in the cockpit opening. I could have made it work but opted for the 1/6 scale due to the abundance of 1/6 scale pilots out there... Ty
Can I ask fockewulf37 if you have used the VQ cockpit kit in your Spit?..... If so then that will be the reson why a 1/5 scale pilot will not Fit. The cockpit Kit is only a representation of a cockpit with seat etc...It is actually way out as far as where the seat sits andthe dept of the cockpit floor. Your pic shows the top of the seat well up in the canopy and the pilots shoulders well up also. In reality the only thing above the rim of the cockpit would have been the pilots head... the shoulders were normally level or below the rim of the cockpit opening. I have attached a few pics the demostrate this. The first is one of Carolyn Grace who is only 5' Others are of similar size pilots to that which flew during the war... John Romain, Ray Hannah, etc all are under 5'8" For me its getting the head size correct in the void of the conapy so it looks right when in the air. Why do you not get one of the 1/5 scle pilots and cut him off at the waist ? Wayne

RE: YT (ESM) 50cc Spitfire
Guys, You may want to think about a diffeerent figure for your Cockpit. The Dragon one that is pictured earloier in the posts is 1/6th this Spit is actually 1/5th so the figure will look too small. I have a figure that I will be marketing that is highly detailed and beats anything out there on the market for detail and realism. It has been modelled by a fantastic scale modeller on this Forum called 'Nudger'. He is available Painted or Unpainted. Unpainted Price is £65. Some pics of his head. Will post some full body shots later. Trouble is though he will not fit in with the current cockpit Kit that is available so a few alterations would have to be done. If anyone is intersted I can ship to anywhere in the world. Ask me for details. Thanks, Wayne [link=http://www.artfbuilds.co.uk]ARTF Builds and Customisation Service[/link]

RE: New composite spitfire
ORIGINAL: sandseeker 1: 5.5 Scale 80in wingspan, billed as an ARF, approx 30 hrs work for the previous kit of this a/c that required the wings in 3 pieces joining and covering.I guess you could have this fully composite everthing, ailerons surface hinged, wings ,stabs plug-in flying after 15-20 hrs. Very impressed so far with the quality/lightness of components (designer gives wt as 7.5 to 8.5 kg dry) I intend to fit mvvs 26 gas motor (designer recomends 20-32 2 stroke and 20-30 cc 4 stroke power) Surface moulded detail is the best I have seen in a moulded kit (aviation design produce very fine turbine and D/F kits see their web site(the ARF Spit is not there just the older kit on which its baced) I have a lot of projects on the go but hopefully this will be flying soon. I have the YT Spit pictured as well but the product is miles behind the AD one. Chris
The YT one is not an All composite Kit...and is 72" compared with the 80" of the AD one.... RE: KI-84 FRANK ESM
Finally got chance to test fly my Ki today.... in non too perfect conditions.. Arrived at the airfield to find the windsock horizontal blowing 19knotts.. Never the less I was determined to get some flying in....I brought a selection of aircraft with me just in case.... Got over to our flying location and tested the wind speed once again... down to 14 knotts now straight down the runway...so decided to go for it. Tested the retracts a few times and re-filled the tank, fired her up...plenty of pull from my SC-180 FS ! and was confident that even with the wind she would have no problems penetrating. Pointed her into Wind, 6 feet and she wanted to lift her tail...tracked very straight on two wheels and then with just a hint of up in she just lifted in a steady climb, right turn and gear up, no change in trim what so ever... into wind and hands off, needed about 5 clicks of down and three left and straight and level with hands off... she was jumping about a little with the wind but was very happy with how easy it was to fly. One of my UC legs refused to lock up because the gear door has come adrift and was stopping it locking up but did 3 or 4 cycles no problem so I knew they would lock down. asked my mate to take some pics but he couldn't get my camera to work so no pics of her in the air... Tried a few fast passes with the wind turning hard into the wind, no issues. Approach - Gear down, no trim change needed... din't try flaps in this wind she didn't need them... gentle landing, slight bounce....ground handling good. Will wring her out a little next time now I know she flies ok..and hopefully the wind will be a bit calmer. Wayne _________________ ARTF Build and Customisation Service Specialising in YT Warbirds
