RE: Rollin' my own 50CC Yak 54
Guys, sorry , another question... Do you prefer doing a mirror after the loft has been complete of one side of the fuse, or mirror inside the sketches and loft the whole fuse? I know, stupid questions... Thanks.

Hey As you can see here, everything is fine except the fuse... I did this today, just some more practice. But if it came out, 100" wingspan, electric motor, and a camera... Perfect recon plane. Hehe! Soo... anyone on some tips for lofting?? Thanks

RE: Rollin' my own 50CC Yak 54
Hey guys! Haven't been here in a looong while. I see a lot of progress from everyone. Nicee Projects!! Me myself havent flown or built anything in about a year, maybe more. School and stuff, Eehh.. Recently dusted off the digital solidworks files that i had. Well, I hate bragging but I think I accomplished a lot. In the past 4 days, I have been working on my unfinished .40 size 109 from a looooong time ago. Well, I love it. Its great to get back to designing!! I got far I think. It worked out beautifully!! In 4 days basically made everything from only lofted piece. Well see for yourself! Looks ok to me. Unfortunately, this is a test model for me to get into SW mood... [lots hasnt been considered into this design, and the stab is too high to fix it on the rudder for it to be stable(i lowered it a little and the 109 lost its look..)]. So I decided to "freeze" the project. Maybe in the future i will come back to this plan, maybe. As many of you said, in SW the limit is only your imagination. I still haven't perfected the lofting feature for the 3 view plans, so if you have some time can you give me some tips for lofting the fuse. I love the loft that SydD did a while ago, the cherry red Extra. Any tips man? Really appreciated!! Thanks to all!

RE: Rollin' my own 50CC Yak 54
Thanks John, but you must of misunderstood me, or its my SW acting up. When i click a line to make it as a guide curve, basically nothing happens. There is a timer pops up for a second, and nothing adds nowhere... It says its invalid, but why? I only do one line per sketch, then it works out fine. I don't know is it just me or any of you had the same problem?? The pictures show what happens, I hope... Thanks

RE: Rollin' my own 50CC Yak 54
Hey guys! Thats a nice cowl Brenet G, i always wanted to try making fiberglass molds, maybe soon... John, that is sweeeeet, man!! I have a DA-50 Extra, looks just like it, but yours is really shiny!! [:D] My Bf was started over again, I think this one will go through. Did some research in SW, going faster now. Its a much smaller scale that I was intending on doing, this is 57" span. I got that G-6 version, just what I needed. I still got a question about loft, when I make a 3D sketch, I can only make one line per sketch that can connect to guide curves menu. Is that correct or am I doing something wrong??? I'm sorry if I'm being a big pain in the ass with these stupid questions, but I really want to design some nice plans like yours! Thanks!

Yea I have like 3 or 4 3views and they are all different. I want to make a 1/4 scale G-6 version like Erich Hartmann's plane, well one of them. 97 inch span, Zenoah G-62 for power, Robart retracts... But its still in a "thinking about it" part of my head.(Plus its going to be around $2K all done.) Do you think enough power for it?

RE: Rollin' my own 50CC Yak 54
Hey Syd. Thanks for all the help before. I've been fooling around in SW, well not much progress... I got a question for you, idk if you could help me. I got a problem that when I Loft a separate section, it comes out good. But if I loft another section from there, it comes out all messed up and such. The pictures show it, I hope. (The plane is supposed to be Bf-109, does it look any??[:o]) If you have any idea why, or how can I fix this please tell me. Another question I have is, after you made all your formers, how do you run stringers along the fuse. I understand that you have to extrude them, but how do you sketch them? Very much appreciated! Thanks

Thanks Syd! But, ok, you've made the loft but how do you plot the points for the fuse formers? Do you just do it by your eye, how you see it, or... The help is truly appreciated!! Thanks

Hey SydDythers. I kinda got back to solidworks...i love it!! Just basically fooling around with it. I just got a couple of questions if you could help me, you said in the beginning, when you start designing a plan, you loft it... can you please explain more detailed what you meant by that. I've tried to loft, but couldn't figure it out. Basically what I have been doing is plotting points in a 3 view, in 3D. Is it any close to it? Thanks Gleb D.

Relation of Stab on Flying Characteristics
Hi Im trying to design a 3D model and thaught about one question... How are the flight characteristics affected because of stab position, <up, down>. I know the further back the stab and the rudder are, the more control you get, but its CG will change a lot (its an electric). Oh yea, and if you can refresh my memory about the wing position. And which is better for 3D flight. Thanks! Ace

I ordered mine from Aero-Works. They had nice service. I liked it. Nice Pipe there man!!! Next time when im building something like that again, i will make space in the fuse for a tuned pipe or even a canister or two... But I've seen the new 28% or something, had that space already there!!!

Nice going surf!!! I see they made a cutout for optional canisters... very nice... My DA sounds not too loud but pretty good with the stock muffler. Now I have 7 flights on mine! Flies great!!! Last flight was a dead stick coming out of a spin... guess the 50 isnt broken in yet! As I was coming in with the prop horizontall, it made those nice sounds like a big 747 flying right on top of you. Keep up the good work!!! Hey AndersAM... How is your Extra flyin'??? Bye

RE: Nother 27% CA 300L Build
Hey You know what I read somewhere... There is no such thing as Extra 330. There was a guy who put a 330hp engine on the Extra 300, thats why theyre called Extra 330's. Walter Extra never really designed a 330 design. Just sayin... Speaking of Extras... Well... "WE HAVE LIFTOFF!!!" Flew my Extra on Sunday... UNBELIEVABLE!!! That is the most funnest, easiest (well maybe not for beginners) plane to fly. The slow performance is Phenomenal!!! The fast performance... Superb!!! WOW!!! Thanks to Colombo Anderson for designing such good airplane!!! I don't care what anyone says!!! It was around 15 mph 45* to the runway wind. Got 2 flights in. The plane literally took off in 5 feet by itself. 4 clicks of aileron, 5 clicks of down elevator... She was flying on a string!!! Inverted... well I had my CG little aft... she was Climing!!! Vertical, Unbelievable... That DA really pulls good!!! Landings... just keep little wind flowing over the control surfaces and she comes in by her self!!! For those of you who has not purchased this kit or ARC version of this plane... Well you are really missing out on some good S#%&!!! After checking everything for loosening, tightening everything up, moved battery more up front... 2nd Flight... This baby is the best tracking plane I've ever flown!!! I flown some of my buddies' Caps and Edges... This is THE BEST ONE!!! I did some of the sportsman IMAC sequence... Oh Man!!! If you go to any areobatic competition right now, without trimming... You will be one of the top ones there!!! The firewall was already preset for all the thrust angles!!! On the landing though... I came in little underpower and my plane sort of panckaked on the ground... NO, not like that... everything is fine except the prop... It seemed like a little touch, but when i taxied it back... the prop was cracked... no good. Thats because I have about 2 inches of clearance... Whats your stories??? how much clearance you have??? I will put a half inch balsa in between the fuse and the gear, and bend it in a little. The stock gear is very soft... what about Carbon Fiber??? Well thats it for my story... Sorry if its too long... just so excited about this beauty!!! Bye! P.S. No pictures... Sorry!!!

Hey Nope, no maiden yet, this spring is good only on weekdays, when i cant get to the field... That Sucks!!! Switches... I went with an old big(i think its heavy duty) switch for the Rx. Found it in my old parts... Ignition got a big swich from the Radio Shack I think... Its an ordinary 2 way swich HD too. Well Saturday seems like a fair day, 68* 13-14 mph winds... Still the wind is a little on the high side but will do. Thats about it... Bye Pic is the Rx Switch

Hey flymeaway! I use 3" wheels, axels to fit into the wheels. http://www.shopatron.com/product/product_id=DUB249/101.0.5161.5172.5171.0.0 something like that... Tail wheel http://aero-works.net/store/detail.aspx?ID=116 The distance i have is 1/8 of an inch past F1, you could heve a 1\4 somewhere in between. The firewall should be as long is needed foe your engine to be, put the plane nose up, on a ladder or something. puth the engine on the firewall. put the cowl on. put the spinner on. measure the distance from the front of the cowl to the spinner. cut that distance from the firewall. check if its good. glue the firewall together. install the engine. hope this helped!!!

Thanks El Temucando!!! I will reinforce more like you said. Today was a great day!!! I went out to te field, showed off my new Extra 300!!! I was hoping for some pointers from the experts, and got them! Haven't maidened yet because both of my switches were little too light of a duty for this plane. And the CG is too far aft. I will get new switches installed soon. So far, ran the DA-50... UnFreakinBelievable!!! I havent had an engine run that good out of the box, forever!!! Didnt need any tweaking at all!!! Range checked both ways, DA on, and off, awesome!!! Started very, very easily. Couple of flips with choke on, ign on... Choke off, 3 flips started up!!! Idles... the lowest rpm's i've ever seen... Forgot my Tachometer at home, next time i'll check, but low as hell!!! Top end... I was holding the plane with my feet as choke, the plane wanted to sing and rocket away!!! I love it!!!! Here are couple of pics of my flying...
