RE: Simjet 2300 start up issue
Hi! To me it seems like a pump issue. I had something like your case on a PST 600, and the problem was made by the gear from the pump. The pump was worn out, and as soon I got a new one the problem was over. You can also adjust the amount of gas so you are not getting so high temp reading to see if the pump starts. You can choke the canistervalve to do so.

RE: 2300 parts
Hi! You can get it all from Dr. SimJet, http://www.csturbine.se/ If he dont have a frontcover, he will make you one. He can do everything with a SimJet. Contact him by mail, and you will see :-).

Hi! I have already done it, and I can run my Nexus now on 120,000 rpm with the same temp as I had at 116,000 rpm before. It now produce close to 17 kgs at 120,000 rpm :-).

RE: Simjet 3000 low rpm
Hi! I had the same experience with a 3000 of mine. It wouldn reach max rpm, my setting was 125,000 on max. It was running from 110,000 rpm to 116,000. I took the turbine out for a check, put it into a testbench and made a start. At full power I saw that there was a leak beneath the outer cowling and the kompressor sucked this fuel into its inlet and the rpm dropped. I took off the blue cowling and I did a new start. I saw that there was leaking fuel from somewhere, and with a small flashlight i saw that it was one of the 90 degrees Festo that connect the fueltube with the intake to burnchamber that was defect. I made a new fueltube over the brasstube and put a new Festo on place. Ran it up again and the turbine was performing again. The leak was taken care of and the turbine got the right mixture again. To start the turbine without the blue cowling - loosen the starterengine from its base and hold the startermotor in your hand when you initializing the startprocedure. It worked fine with me :-). Check out if you can see any leak of fuel at the bottom of your turbine while its running. Then you have the same problem :-). You need a flashlight to identify the fuel due to its transparency. Good luck!

Hi! You can use that battery, no problem. I do use 3 cell LiPo on my SimJet 2002-fadec, even if it came with a 9,6 volt NiCad.

RE: Simjet Battery queerie
Hi! For that purpose just to run your engine by powering its fuelpump and glowplug, you can install a 3 cell LiFe-battery at about 2200 mah. That will be perfect. A 3 cell Life is putting out 9,9 volt.

On my SimJet 2002 ecu, I can adjust the glowpower with my SimJet dataterminal. I can choose from low, medium and high glowsetting. I have medium on mine ecu running on 3 cells LiPo. I dont know if you can plug a terminal into your ecu?? You can always choose to run it on 3 cells LiFe package (9,9 volts)

I can see that the by the cover that this ECU is an original old SimJet ECU, and all old ECU`s from SimJet can be run by 3 cells LiPo. Dont know the exact version of it, but it looks familiar with one I have been seen before

RE: Simjet 2250... Lipo ?
You can run a 3 cell lipo on your ECU, but I would prefer a 3 cell LiFe, 9,9 volt. LiFe handle cold temperature much better than LiPo. You can buy batteries from Hobby King to a ridiculous low price.

RE: Simjet 2250... Lipo ?
Hi! If this ECU is an old original 2002 SimJet Fadec, you can run it on a 3 cells LipPo. The solenoidvalves that belongs to this ECU handle 12 volts. But if you have a Gaspar ECU, you better run it on 2 cells LiPo. I have one SimJet 3000 that I run on a SimJet 2002 Fadec, and when I went from 8 cells NiCad to 3 cells LiPo all my starts have been perfect. I use a 2600 mah LiPo with 30C because it is vital that your battery can deliver a solid punch to the startprosedure, and this works perfect [:)].

RE: Yellow Aircraft F-18 Hornet twin
Well, the bird flew!!!!! I had my first trip today with my YA Hornet and it flew with grace. The only thing is that I lost my left front wheel during take-off and when I came in to land, the right nosewheel locked up due to the wheelbolt twisted itself to lock the right wheel. I forgot locktite [>:]. So the rubber and some alu from that wheel disappeared and I have to buy a new set of front wheels [&o]. Will handle that. I flew it like the original with tailerons in the air and flaps with flaperons assist during take-off and landings. This setting worked perfectly. I love this aeroplane!!!

Hi, and thks a lot for the peek. The sound from the turbine is awesome when you have the single engine dual pipe nozzle. A friend of mine flies a F-15 Eagle from FEJ with a JetCat P-200 and the sound is unbelivable [:D]. Thanks from letting me know so much from you when it comes to this aeroplane, I will use all this knowledge when it comes to set up and fly my Hornet. I have the cockpit in full scale, only miss the lucky bastard that will take place in this cockpit[8D]. And Paul - very nice homepage you got there. Merry Christmas to you and your family - and the same to the rest of you all!

RE: Yellow Aircraft F-18 Hornet twin
Thanks for your reply! As I wrote earlier, I have a F-16 that flies only with elevon mix. On the real thing this all moving tail was introduced to handle supersonic flights, due to standard elevator an ailerons became useless when you went beyond the soundbarrier due to shockwaves. So in the real life I will guess that ailerons and tail is working combined in a mix setting. But when they go supersonic they will only use the all moving tail as an elevon mix due to shockwaves. We will never come close to that kind of speed [X(], but I thougt maybe when I fly on no flap and for real, I will use elevon mix, then when I am at a take-off position I will add some ailerons and even more when I am at final. Another issue is the airbrake - I was thinking about to activate this channel with my throttlestick. When I am at landing mode, the airbrake mix is activatet and I activate the airbrake then when the throttle is between 1/3 to idle, because it is in that area the stick is on final That means if I need full power in an instant and open up for full throttle, the airbrake will then come down as I push the stick forward. Would that be ok?

Hi! I will check the brakesolution on my Hornet. This was a new knowledge for me. Can I replace the fueltubing with O-rings in case it has the old wheels? The tyres are made of a very light stuff, dont know thw english term for it, and they are brand new. Another thing is that my Hornet do miss a fuelcell, so I took a empty glowfuelcan from Byron and this fit like a hand in glove into the body of the aircraft. Thanks for all the advices you all are putting up here, just let them come [;)]

RE: Yellow Aircraft F-18 Hornet twin
Hi! Thanks for letting me know [;)]. Why I ask is because I have a F-16 from Aviation Design, and this aircraft is performing perfect with only elevons. I have seen the F-18 on You Tube - the real thing, and I can see that they use that kind of mixing as I described earlier. I will make two programs on my radio, one with an ordinary setting and one with mixed setting. Start to fly with ordinary setting first, and then maybe try out "scale setting" I will start to fly with a SimJet Nexus, and if we become friends I will go for Behotec 180 Gold[8D]. That will be perfect!! Here is some pictures from a repaird bird of mine. THIS IS MINE [:D]!!!

Hi! I have bought a damaged F-18 Hornet Twin, made by YA. My first question is where do pilots place CG-point? Second is about radiosettings - If i fly this aeroplane with only elevons, what throws should I have on the elevons? What radiosettings is recommended? Do they fly it with only elevator on the tail, and ailerons on the wings only, or do they use a combined mix of both elevons an ailerons, with ailerons mixed together with flaps? Pls light me up [;)]

Hi! Change the glowplug. I had the same problem, changed my glowplug and it came to action at once. I bought a OS fourstroke glowplug due to its length, pulled out two coils from the plug and the turbine havent made me any problem since. If you cant adjust the glowpower on your ecu, this is the best way to solve your problem. I had the SimJet 2002 Fadec with a main switch and 3 diodes, green, yellow and red on its tray.

RE: simjet 1700 starting issue
Hi again! I have 3 simjet 3000, one with Fadec 2002 Simjet original autostart. The first thing I do, is to set the throttlestick and trim in middle position. Then i turn on the ecu and the green light will flash, telling that the ecu is ready. Then I move the th stick down to the end and then adjust the endpoint until I get the solid yellow. Then i move the stick forward, adjust the endpoint until you find the yellow light again and then the stick fully back again. Then I turn off the ecu and switch it on again, then you have learned the ecu your trx throttlerange. What it doesnt know is if the throttlesetting has to be reversed. On Futaba you have to reverse the thrrange, I have a Futaba FX 30, and had to do it. When this has been cleared you must have the thr stick i idle pos and then turn on the ecu. The green light will flash and the yellow will be solid. If you have done this right, you can move the trim down and the yellow light will go out. This is how you stop the engine. With the trim back in middle and with solid yellow again, move the stick to max, wait until the yellow light comes on, slowly move stic back to idle and as I said earlier, the startprocedure will engage. If this does not happens, you must check that you have all your plugs and wires in their right places, and a fully charged 9,6 volt nicad or nimh battery. You cant use 2 cells lipo on this. But I will advise you to get the Gasper fadec with a handhold dataterminal. Guess Kerry Sterner in US Simjet LCC can help you out with this.

RE: simjet 1700 starting issue
Hello! When you start a Simjet, you will have to set the throttle range first. On idle the yellow light must be steady with a flashing green light. Then move the throttlestick to max and adjust your endpoint until the yellow light comes on. Then move your stick back to idle position and after a second or two the start sequense will come to live. The red light will go on flashing, it tells you to open up the gas supply and when the gas ignite the red light will be solid when the combustionchamber is hot enough. Then it will start the fuelramp and then the engine should be running on its own after a few second.

RE: Simjet Nexus
Hello and thank you for your involvement! I understand that there is a big difference between regions in terms of experience with Simjet and their Nexus. As SAP_2000 wrote, are people here in Norway very unhappy with the service that Simjet stands for. Fortunately we have a skilled person in Sweden who keeps Simjet going here in the Nordic countries. Regarding the engine as I wanted feedback on, I can get it for approx. 2000 $. I think it is a good price and I will consider it. I hope Simjet in Denmark acquire much knowledge in producing small military jet engines for other countries and use this lesson to produce better engines for us rc enthusiasts in the near future. I like the idea of having a manufacturer of jet engines close to my own playground.
