Put me down for one as well. Mike, I so appreciate what you and Horizon do for this hobby. Most of my dollars go to you guys because, in my opinion, you guys "get it". And Horizon's customer service has always been exemplary in my opinion. Keep on keepin' on. Bob

This is the best thread ever. It's great that we can joke and have fun without "offending" others because we have different opinions that may not sync with theirs. Some other unamed threads and forums come to mind. We could have a great pattern contest, couldn't we? Bob

Okay Crank, I see a Focus Sport, which I'm building this winter, and a Phoenix of some kind, and a pool, and Florida. Not only am I not tired of seeing these pictures, I'm going to show up about Feb. 1st, when there's two feet of snow here in Idaho, sit by your pool, drink some rum, and just look at classic pattern airplanes. And then drink some more rum. Okay with you? Bob

RE: Scoop! Hangar 9 Phoenix 7...ARF!!!
Frank, I remember those days well. When the six 72mhz frequencies came along we were home free! If our airplanes had any coupling issues we just "flew" the airplane accordingly to mitigate them. On top of this, what we considered top of the line servos then were a far different animal than the servos available to us today. I guess what I'm excited about is the opportunity to once again fly these types of airplanes with the radios and technology that, as you said, we take for granted today. Thanks again to Mike for the chance to fly a P7 again. Can't wait. Bob

RE: Scoop! Hangar 9 Phoenix 7...ARF!!!
Mike M, I'm curious. Back when us old guys were flying these types of airplanes we didn't have the luxury of computer radios or even servo reversing switches for that matter. What mixes, if any, are you using with this airplane to compensate for any coupling issues, and, are you surprised at just how good these airplanes can fly/present given the capabilities of our modern RC systems. Thanks again for injecting a large dose of enthusiasm to us old pattern fossils. Bob

RE: Dynaflite Butterfly conversion???
As I recall my static full throttle numbers were 29 amps and 290 watts. I tried some other props but kept coming back to the MA 12x8. It just seems to pull better in the climb and needs less throttle at those "low/economy" cruise power settings. After a 50-55 minute flight the pack usually takes about 3 to 3.2 amps on a charge. At 29A and 290 watts the axi isn't even breathing hard. The MA 12x8 folder is less than $10 from tower. Bob

RE: Dynaflite Butterfly conversion???
I have a 2826/12 in mine with a jeti 40 esc and a three cell 3700 pack and a master airscrew 12x8 folding prop. At a low "cruise" power setting it will fly 50 minutes dead air no lift. It weighs 3 1/2 lbs and is just a joy on a calm summer evening. It really doesn't need the 3700 pack but i like to sit in my chair and watch it go by and by and by. Bob

Kato, Is the brake turned off on the jeti 77? I had the exact same symptoms using this esc with an e-flite power 110. I thought I had the brake disabled but discovered it was still programmed on. Once I disabled it the problems went away. I apologize for asking such a basic question but this sounded very familiar. Bob

RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?
Had a beautiful 50 minute flight last nite. Perfect, dead calm fall evening. Exactly the kind of evening I built the Butterfly for. Sitting in the lawn chair, watching the sun set as the B-fly passes overhead. Interesting how sometimes the simplest of airplanes end up being our favorites. Bob

RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?
Thanks fellas. Like most here I have a whole hangar full of airplanes but the Butterfly remains one of my favorites. Nothing better on a calm summer evening just to sit in the lawn chair and watch it float by. With the 3S 3700 mah pack it flies for about 50 minutes at "economy cruise". That's in no lift conditions. I like the yellow and purple scheme. Should show up well. Mine is kinda hard to see sometimes Bob

RE: ANYBODY FLYING A DYNAFLITE BUTTERFLY ANYMORE?
I love my Butterfly. I think I'm into my sixth year with it. Many, many hours on it. It was built electric from the start with a brushed motor and gear box but now has a Axi 2826/12 and 3S lipo. I built a little cowl out of balsa and ply to clean up the front end. Bob

RE: Angel S EVO Build Thread
Flew my new Angel this weekend and was very happy with it. Like most of the others it weighs six pounds exactly with the battery. I'm using an E-Flite power 60 with an APC 15x10 and a Flight Power 6S 3700 pack. This numbers on the watt meter were 48.8 amps and 1140 watts and this gave me unlimited vertical even though our density altitude saturday was 6200 feet. Should be a lot of fun. Bob

RE: Butterfly Conversion
I still fly mine often. When first built, (five years ago), it had a Master Airscrew brushed 05 with a 3:1 gearbox, 12X8 folder and a 7 cell 2400 nicad and flew beautifully at 64 oz. About 3 years ago I installed an AXI 2826/12 and a 3 cell 4000 lipo and lost 8 oz. of weight but now flys forever. Like Chris said, get out the lawn chair and relax.
