RE: Help with traxxas boat
I'm not really sure what you are asking.... If the ESC says 14.4 volts it means you can run up to 12 NIMH cells. So yes, you can run 7 cells...however it will be half the speed, and probably won't even get on plane. Why would you want to run a slower boat...SPEED IS KING [>:]

RE: HK Aparition Hull - First time hull build
Quick update, recharged the batteries went out for a spin and now got 48mph top speed, however water was rough and could not go full throttle. I have a good feeling that I will be hitting the 50mph with perfect condition water. Motor and batteries under 100F ESC was 107F I'll update the video soon, also working on a Octura X642

That is a really good point "NobodyFamous" never even though of that. Next time I go out I will read the motor temp on the bottom and top to see if there is a difference.

RE: HK Aparition Hull - First time hull build
Finally got a video, quality is not that good as I don't have a camcorder. Max speed was a disappointing 44mph, timing on the ESC was set to Zero I'm going to have to give it another try as the batteries have been sitting for over a month, just did a quick recharge Temperatures were as follow: Water temp: 73F Motor temp: 97F ESC Temp: 112F Batteries Temp: 94F http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W1-wkyaEc2s&feature=youtu.be

RE: Longer Run times with Traxxas Spartan??
Ok...let me get this straight...you sold the spartan after using it 4-5 times because you were only getting 4-5 minutes run time???? That's got to be the funniest reason to sell a RC boat. Did it ever cross your mind to get new batteries first, who still uses NIMH batteries???? let alone 3200Mah Spartan is a good basher boat, replace the batteries with some 5000Mah Lipo and you would see the difference, if that's not enough connect the batteries in parallel (double the run time) Another beginner that is not familiar with the amps consumption of brushless motors and then blame on the product, whatever... Let me give you an idea of a brushless/brushed amps consumption. I have an HK apparition with a Leopard 2200kv brushless motor running 6s lipo I get about 5-6 minutes of run time. On my rescue boat a Cen Aquajet with a Graupner 700bb brushed motor running 4s I get 30 minutes of run time, both with 5000Mah batteries People like myself are willing to sacrifice run time for top speed, that's why we go crazy with the high Kv motors Don't blame the Spartan blame the user.

RE: Apparition hull from hobbyking
Here is my apparition, I'm extremely happy with the boat/hull. Haven't gotten a video up or know what the top speed is, still in the tuning process, the lake 10 minutes from me always has semi rough water, impossible to get top speed. http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_10883513/tm.htm

I see what your saying "carlnoki" much better idea. I'm not familiar with outrunner motors, I've seen a few people use them on their boats. Do you guys think 2 of these outrunners would be able to push the HK Osprey. http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__11183__Turnigy_600_H3736_Brushless_outrunner_1970kv_600_Class_Heli_.html

I was thinking outside the box for my new winter project. Has anyone seen, tried to setup a v-hull with 2 motors, dual props?? Would it even work???? Haven't been able to find anything about it.

RE: HK Aparition Hull - First time hull build
The boat is up and running and it goes pretty good just need to get some footage. I did change the motor to Leopard 4082-2200kv, and I'm running 6 cells. It's still not tuned properly the front end keeps wanting to lift up over tiny ripples of water, the most I can go is 70% throttle, anything over that if catches a small ripple it flips. Should I put more weight in front of the boat, should I lower/raise the propeller, some input would be great so I can get this video going. Thanks guys

Leopard 4082 2200kv loses power after a few seconds
I'm a little puzzled...I have a Leopard motor 4082 2200kv motor in my boat. 2 5000mah lipo 40C and a a Turnigy 180amps ESC After a few seconds (15s) on full throttle suddenly it just loses its power and slows down to half the speed. If I unplug the battery and plug it back in it does the same thing. Any idea guys??

RE: Looking for the right prop .... here's what I have
If you're motor is running cool, I see no reason not to go with a 442, or 445, if you want to venture with 640 go for it, you won't know until you try. There is no right prop, go by the heat of you're electronics, that what everyone does. I tried a 442, 445 on mine it still cool and I mean under 90F, I'm getting a 642 ready to give it a try. Here are some cheap props you can try, when you find the right one you can upgrade to metal prop. http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/products.php?cat=Carbon+Props

RE: Mystic 29 pnp build
#1 - you're coupling adapter is backwards, turn it around and it will work #2 - I'm not sure if that video was a joke or not, but you wouldn't expect the bottom of the hull to be flat, specially when the flex cable tubing is sitting on the table.

RE: HK Aparition Hull - First time hull build
Well...hmmm... Everything is working, it run pretty good in the water, only went through a set of batteries. I'm a little concern, I'm getting a lot of vibration from the flex cable when the propeller starts spinning. Tried without the propeller just the flex cable itself same thing. Any ideas in how to fix it, or guidance to what the problem can be. Thank you
