RE: More Help With VolcanoS30
Normaly when you are breaking in a motor after a few tanks they will not want to idle due to the motor is not as tight and it can not use all the fuel and oil and it will start to load up on you. You need to get it running and warm it up by driving it and tune you HSN first to get you close so the truck is not spitting too much fuel and oil. Then work on your LSN. Then you can go back to your HSN and finish up tuning. If your motor is set to the factory break in settings it will not want to sit and idle too long with out stalling.

RE: Measuring Engine Temp
You should check the temp at the glow plug or head button. I personally do not tune for temp, I would only use it as a ballpark figure to get you close. IMO tuning for performance is a lot better just as long as you stay in the area of not going over board on tuning in trying to get to much performance out of it. Many people tune by turning the needles until they get good performance and then they keep turning going right past it trying to get every bit out of the motor. You will notice when tuning a nitro motor you will get to a point in tuning that if you turn the HSN a little more the motor really doesn't have any difference in performance and this is where (you should back off on the HSN a little) but a lot of people will turn the HSN in a little more and damage starts to occur at that point.

RE: servo saver
The BS903-032 is the Upper Deck-Fr for the backdraft 3.5 Nitro buggy. That is why you don't see the part listed under Backdraft 8E parts.

RE: 1/8 Super Crawler - ESC PROBLEM NOW?
ORIGINAL: bdude <span style=''color: #ff0000''>UPDATE: Well, RedCat supplied me with a new ESC this week.  I tried it and discovered..................wait for it................... ESC Fan does not work at all Going to full reverse throttle from a fwd throttle (of varying speeds) stalls the vehicle - you need to do a double-tap to get the vehicle going in reverse when this happens. RedCat, if you are monitoring this forum, I am not going to resend this ESC to you - I've already had my crawler sitting on my worktable for over three weeks waiting for a replacement that does not function properly.  Atleast this ESC doesn't make the thing convulse like the first one. Based on the performance of the Super Crawler at this point, I would not recommend it to folks getting into R/C crawling. ~B
Only time I have seen the fan not work is when the battery is not fully charged or the fan is not pluged in to the ESC or the connection is loose. The double tap on the remote to go to reverse is normal. Look at your instruction manual on page 5 it shows it. It makes it so you can apply brake to the truck with out going into reverse.

RE: RS 10 Rockslide questions
No there is no set spot for the horn. The best thing to do is turn your truck reciever and radio on and set your steering trim on your remote to the center position and then put the servo horn on with the steering tires set straight. That way if it is a little off then you will have some steering trim on the remote to correct for a left or right pull and make it go straight.

RE: Rampage
ORIGINAL: BigDave09 do you have to add the oil yourself or does it come premixed like nitro and those are great fact and which one is the better model mt pro or just the mt
Mixing the oil is no big deal. Most 2 stroke oil containers are marked in OZ so you can see how much oil you are adding. Some even have a cup on the top that you can use to get the right mixture. It is very easy to do. The rampage is a lot of fun. I have the base MT5 the only thing I have done to it is I added the Redcat Tuned pipe which works well (IMO) And sounds great. The MT Pro is very nice but to me it takes the fun out of adding upgrades to the truck because they are already done. And to tell you the truth some of the upgrade items I would say would be better for show then function. The 1 nice thing about the pro is the bigger 28cc motor as the base MT only comes with the 23cc motor. But just like anything else you can always upgrade the motor down the line.

RE: Postage !!!!
The brake disk is mounted on the drive cup. It has two flat spot that lock it to the drive cup. So if you are turning the wheels and the fiber disk does not move but the cup and dog bone are moving it means it has rounded out the fiber disk and you need a new disk. The replacement brake kit is redcat part number 02044 It comes with 2 brake disks, 4 pads and 4 screws.

RE: Volcano S30 Steering Servo
The steering servo in a volcano is a standard size with futaba J connector. If you get a new servo go for a servo that has a high torque, A high speed servo is always good to have but the main thing is you really want a servo with more torque oz in. For a good servo that offers a fast speed with good torque and is not the expensive look at a Hitec HS-625MG

RE: servo
You might have a radio interference problem or glitch. If you turn on the car and the remote right now, will the servo work at all? or does the servo no longer respond. Try to field test the radio with the car not running. If the problem does not happen have a second person hold the car in position while the car is running and walk away with the remote and see if it tries to take off on its own. If it does make sure you have fresh batteries in the radio and rec, the radio wires in the radio box (servo wires & battery wires) on the car are not crossing or wrapped around the antenna wire of the receiver.
ORIGINAL: hridge06  I'm not sure how I broke them. I never hit any solid objects. It actually broke while I has running on the grass. One of those freak events I guess. I want to try the upgraded c hub, but can't find them anywhere.
Yea all of the MPO-02 carriers I had in stock sold out in a few days. Hopefully Redcat gets them back in stock soon. It is a good upgrade to do on your car.

James does it only happen when the car has a half of tank of fuel of less? Take a look and see if you are getting air bubbles in the fuel line. I have seen one do this same thing you are describing.

+1 Yes deans plug or you can use the TRX connector. Also DO NOT try to run adaptors they create a lot of resistance. Keep it short and sweet.

RE: Backdraft 8E questions?
ORIGINAL: hridge06 I just got my Backdraft 8E today. Broke the left front C hub on the first run. The C hubs are very weak. I'm having trouble finding anyone that carries the replacement part. This thing is fast. The charger that comes with it is a balance charger. It's a good deal for the price. The hubs are 17mm.
Yea they do break. Redcat sells a upgrade part it is a MPO-02 but they are now out of stock. I do have the stock c hub carrier if you need. http://www.urchobby.com/proddetail.php?prod=BS903-017

Bill I think it is time for you to play the lottery [:D] The acker plate screws should be tight but it should be able to move right and left and pivot with ease and no tight spots. Yes the turnbuckles mount below. If you diconnect the servo horn and try to move the steering is it hard?

RE: Easy air cleaner mod: Tornado
I'm going to try it.... Some leaks are just hard to find. Would be a nice easy way to find them. I'm going to try it on a brand new motor. I will start at the head as if the bolts were loose then I will try the rear plate and carb and see what happens and let you know...

RE: Easy air cleaner mod: Tornado
Eheheh Honestly I know it works on cars but not sure if it would work on a nitro motor. If it did work, instead of the rps increasing the motor would prob die out. Now I'm going to try it and see what happens, I will let you know....

RE: Tunin in my volcano
Can be many things. Start with trying to retune. If thay does not correct your problem you will have to get into it more, Many times when a motor runs good when cold and the bad when it is warm is a sign that it can be getting low on compression. First thing start with retune your carb back to stock and go from there. After that make sure you have no air leaks ie: (fuel line, head bolts loose, backing plate loose or worn out, carb tight)

RE: Easy air cleaner mod: Tornado
Come on Mick why would you pull it out? just do the good old carb & choke cleaner trick to check for air leaks. Also if you had the head off and put it back on, after you run it and get it up to temp make sure you recheck the head bolts. Make sure they are still tight... I'm sure you will be fine.
