RE: Sea Fury 0.90 from nitro planes
Lots of good advice as always from LDM. I am nearly finished putting one of these together and I stuck a RCGF 26cc gas engine in mine. With this engine I didn't have to add weight to get the CG spot on. The spark plug and plug lead are outside the cowl, but I can live with that as I am not going to be making it more scale in appearance. I am running fixed gear on mine. If it flies ok with the gas engine I will add retracts and recover the wing as mine hasn't held up well out in the shed over summer. A few 47c days (most likely a lot hotter in the shed) has lifted the coating in a couple of places and the dark blue doesn't like resticking. The colour appears to seperate from the film. Nice looking plane. And from all accounts I have read it flies well even with the added weight needed to balance. I was originally going to install a .90 4 stroke in mine, but would need 500 grams of lead in the nose. Doubt it would have left the ground. :(

Personally I am sick of hearing about the company behind these models on a thread which is supposed to focus on the KMP Corsair. Unsubscribed.

Nice job on the radial jj. I like the braid for the ignition ring. That will show up nicely in the sunshine. What brand of dummy radial is that? Has a lot more detail than the Top Flite one I have.

RE: KMP Corsair
I havent done any weathering on the plane itself. I did mess around with weathering the dummy radial, but it wouldnt look right with the rest of the plane not weathered. I will attempt weathering etc one day. Just not on such an expensive bird. Specially not the first time anyway. :)

RE: KMP Corsair
Painted my dummy radial today. Well did 2 coats anyway. Did the first coat with Tamiya Chrome Silver then tried doing a watered down coat of flat black so some of the silver showed through. It looked ok, but without weathering the whole bird it would have looked out of place. So I coated it flat black and now I guess if it gets scratched or marked it will look somewhat real with the silver underneath. I have been looking at pics of the radial engines in the Corsairs and some have the blue grey colour on the crankcase just behind the prop hub and others look black. Anyone know what they would have come out of the factory with? Might leave it flat black otherwise will paint it some sort of grey colour. Hope you all had a safe and happy xmas and new year.

RE: To all my fellow modeler and pilots...
Merry xmas and Happy New Year to everyone. Hope you all had a safe holiday season. Snow?! Never seen a white christmas. We got 37 degrees celsius and way too much wind for a xmas morning flight. A few of the guys at the club get together for a fly early on xmas day, but the weather didnt allow it this year. May all your landings be wheels down and wings level.

RE: NEW DLE30!
Is it alright to use blind nuts in the firewall to bolt the engine too or am I better off using lock nuts and washers on the engine bolts? I have some bolts here that arent quite long enough to use with locknuts etc, but will work with blind nuts. The bolt thread just clears the back of the firewall.

RE: The worst plane you have ever flown
I am assembling a 66" Willhobby Sea Fury and its taken me forever. Apparently this model flies brilliantly too. Needed 500g of weight in the nose with a .91 ASP 4 stroke so I bolted a 26cc gas engine into it. Balances spot on and swings a more scale sized prop. Should be pretty quick if it doesnt torque roll on takeoff and re-kit itself. :D Wonder if this is some sort of trend in RC planes. If it is a pain to build it will fly well......

RE: The worst plane you have ever flown
I have had 11 or so ebay planes most of which I saw on nitroplanes at one time or another and only the .40 Super Chipmunk and .40 sized Flycat sucked (my opinion and others may have had a better experience). On every model I replaced most of the hardware. A .40 sized Miss America Mustang I had was an absolute pig to build and had the worst covering ever, but its awesome to fly.

Could always run a 3 blade prop if a 2 blade wouldnt fit with the 75. Sounds like a fun model and with the price of them I may just have to pick one up.

Thats a running surface alright. Thats looking through the exhaust port at the cylinder wall. Hate to think what the piston and ring look like after running up and down that. Hahaha. Nice one apalsson. :D If its deemed offensive by anyone at all I will remove the post. Sorry to drag the thread off topic.

RE: NEW DLE30!
ORIGINAL: Bobhend I am just going to wait a while on the DLE 30 and see if it can match the DLE50's excellent reputation. The SYSSA SAP180-HP looks great, it is $430; the EVO 26 is $400 to $450 but says "discontinued" at HH. I ended up buying a Turnigy TGY52 for now, priced "too low to print" at Hobbyking.
I notice Hobbyking removed the russian guys review of the engine showing pictures taken through the exhaust port showing the cylinder wall on the TGY engine. You can see machining grooves inside the bore. And I am talking grooves! Also if you read the reviews that are still on the HK website you will see a fair number of people having problems with the ignition. When you get yours be sure to check the cylinder condition when looking through the exhaust port.

RE: Build Thread - HiFly 86
Just looking at the mounting points for the cowl, would it be worth putting some tri-stock into the corners where the cowl screws on? The bit halfway between the fuse and firewall. I havent seen that sort of mount before and its probably fine how it is. Bit hard to tell from a picture :)

Thanks for the information and the link :) Nearly ready to mount the 30 into an ESM Corsair. I mounted my other gas engine without the factory supplied template as you guys described, but was concerned wether I had the legs parallel to each other or not so for peace of mind will use the template this time. Not the best at building etc so better off playing it safe. :)
