RE: Ford S Max and Jets
Well lets hope my mate is the exception. I've had my 11 year old Mercedes Vito van for over five years now, been a great motor, even towed my caravan up to Scotland with it a few years ago, she's now done 180,000 miles, got a middle deck I put in so as I can get my models on two tiers, serves me for work & play, but hey-ho, each to his own[:D]

RE: Ford S Max and Jets
Dave, great that Ford have loaned you a couple of vehicles, and must admit they a cracking looking vehicles but (this is for you Dick and other potential customers) one of my mates I go flying with had one of these vehicles for his family car, he got rid of it because he was having some problems with it, biggest problem was the Mass Balance Flywheel which Ford use on a lot of their models, including my mates Transit van, cause when that goes wrong it's a small fortune to get repaired[:@] He has now bought a Volvo estate. Another good vehicle for modelers is the Chrysler Voyager, my other mate has got one of them and can get two - three jets in at a go + all his gear and some other models too, it's as big as my Vito van.

You hit the nail on the head there John, if all the hype comes true, it could be a god send to us mortal pilots, being that I am now 66 years of age, my fingers and brain ain't as nimble as these young whipper snappers, and this is one hobby where you don't get better with age[:@] but hey-ho, I just love my jets[:)]

Yeah but you need one to hack about in, one you can fly extra fast, land extra fast, bounce down the runway, do a few flex plates etc[:D][:)][:)][:)]

RE: Powerbox iGyro
After seeing this piece of kit advertised in RCJI, reading the initial write up on their web page, and then reading through this thread, I've got to say that it sounds like an amazing bit of kit, unfortunately wer're all not blessed with being the abilities of David Shulman or Ali Mach. in this world, and to have a piece of clever electronics to help keep us mortal flyers expensive turbine kit from doing the unthinkable, well I'm all for it. We seem to get some really windy, blustery conditions over this side of the pond of late, quite happy to fly my electric styrene models in it but not my expensive turbines, so this bit of kit sure sounds to be a remarkable piece of equipment to help keep our jets flying better. It sounds like I cannot use one at the moment as I am only using a JR DSX9 transmitter, so would need to invest in a later model, shame as I am very happy with the DSX9 it does all I want it to do at the moment. Great thread.

Simjet 85 starter pod
Hi Guy's, I have an old but good Simjet 85 (19lb thrust) that was originally started by air/starter wand. My turbine has a starter wand but can be rather a pain to use, my Simjet 3000 has a proper starter as do quite a lot of other Simjet models. I am considering trying to buy an old knackered Simjet turbine that has the starter pod on the front, and swapping the complete end casing for mine, thereby giving me an in-built starter, which I can attach a micro switch and battery to, to spin it over easier. What do you guys think, will my idea work? Below is a photo of my turbine & front end.

RE: DX18 Programming, how are you all getting on?
As I'm not as brainy as you Gary, I think I'll stick to my DSX9[:D] Taken me long enough get my head around the DSX9 as my first JR radio after changing over from Futaba I do like my DSX9, had no issues with it, and as I won't be buying any big complicated jets, (don't have the space for them) it should serve me okay. Anyway, good luck Gary, and don't let it cause you to smoke to many fags mate[:D]

"WOW", just watched the two video's of the flight, well done to John and his team for re-creating another quirky designed airplane from the past, and many congratulations to Dave Wilde who must have the biggest pair of brass ones and super bowel muscle control to fly these unknown types, "Gungadin" comes to mind here! great achievement, look forward to seeing your next project take off with the same success John.

Your 100% right Gregg, there are those that do and those that don't but we do it for the love of our hobby and for the pleasure and satisfaction that we are helping our club and the hobby in general, also it's gives you self satisfaction in knowing you are doing your bit, even if the people who do appreciate your timeless hard work, do not always blow the trumpet fanfare, you can only do your best, and that's all we ask, the rest (as they say) is up to the modelers out there.

I have noticed that the jet forums have been suffering from a lack of new post too, especially RCMF, bit more response on here as it's a world wide forum but things are certainly down and not so vibrant in the jet world, not like it was 18 months ago, also the amount of people selling up their jet stuff[:o]
