Info on Midwest AT-6 Please
I'm looking for some setup information on a Midwest Texan. I picked this plane up at the Southeastern Model Expo show back in 2006 or so and haven't really flown it yet. I made an attempt to fly it and I suspect the C.G., incidence and thrust are a bit off. I've got the construction manual which details the recommended control throws, but I don't have the plans and the C.G. and thrust line is documented on them. I contacted Midwest to see if I could order a set of the plans, but they've closed the plane division and don't have the plans available. I'd gladly pay to have a set copied if possible. If you have a Texan, can you help me out? Thanks! Greg

Are you going to Perry?
If you are, come by my table (W-78) in the Miller-Murphy-Howard building, say you saw this on RCU and get a free 1" tall vinyl decal! You can choose either your AMA number or "Pilot: YOUR NAME" in any solid color. I'll have carbon fiber printed film as well, but I can't give that stuff away :D I've got red, blue, black, white, yellow, green, lime green, purple, brown, gold, silver, orange, pink, burgundy, and carbon fiber. See ya there! Greg

RE: GAMA Swap meet Perry GA
I'm heading down from north of Atlanta early Friday morning. I've got a vinyl cutting machine and will be cutting lettering/graphics on site for both days. I've got 15 different colors as of now including some cool carbon fiber metallized film that will look really good on some of the giant scale aerobats. See ya in the Miller-Murphy-Howard building at table W-78. -Greg

I'll be there in the Miller-Murphy-Howard building cutting custom vinyl graphics on site. If you make it down, bring one of your kits over to my table (W-78), I'll be glad to send folks your way. Maybe you can do the same for me. -Greg

RE: Old R/C Modeler Magazines to give away*
I suppose I missed out on the #3-1987 issue already. I bought a nice Mockingbird at the SE Model Expo yesterday and would like to get a hold of the original article. The fella I purchased it from supplied a copy of the plans page and a few pages from the aritcle, but I'd like to have the complete article. I'll gladly pay to get a copy, either mailed or a PDF of the article. Thanks! Greg

I'd be glad to. It may take a few days, but I'll make a few pics and send them to you. I've also got some pics from another RCU member of his flap setup during construction.

RE: CKModels Edge 540 26cc
I bought one of the 26cc gas engines from these guys at the SE Model Expo in Perry, Ga. last weekend. This is my first gasser and I was a little nervous about buying it since I couldn't find any info on it on the web. Although I haven't ran the engine yet, so far the customer service has been excellent. I called Vernon on Monday afternoon to inquire about prop recommendations for the engine. After leaving a voice mail, I figured I might hear back in a day or two. He called me back within 5 minutes! I'll report back here once I get the engine mounted and running and let ya'll know what I think about it.

RE: Ohio R/C 80" Edge Profile???
It's pretty sweet, even though it's PINK! Where's the CG on yours? That's the main thing he wants to know. He'd like to know the recommended control throws, but that's not a huge deal. He should have it in the air this weekend. The O.S. BGX should tote it around nicely. He's considering switching it to gas in the future. He's trying to get away from glow.

RE: Ohio R/C 80" Edge Profile???
Saw that, it appears to be very similar, but not exactly the same. Maybe they took the basic design and modified it slightly? The wing attachment is totally different. Each wing panel is 36" long, so there's about 3.5" of airfoil built into the fuse, if that makes sense.

Ohio R/C 80" Edge Profile???
A buddy of mine bought a sweet Ohio R/C Edge 540 at the SE Model Expo in Perry, GA. this past weekend. Apparently, the mfg has gone out of business. Anyone have any specs on this bird?

RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!
I'm glueing the wings on mine as we...er...speak. What a pain that is. It's very hard to get the wings straight and level. I've got them clamped per the instructions, but that left them out of alignment with the fuselage from front to back. I've got rubber bands holding everthing down for the time being. We'll see how they look in an hour or so, then I'll move on to the empenage. -Greg

My motor box parts appear to be straight, no noticeable warp at all. Time will tell as I began assembly.

I haven't looked at the motor mount parts in mine yet. I've got it all spread out on the bench and ready to begin assembly, so I'll try to make a point of inspecting those parts this evening and I'll report back here.

RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!
Ordered my Yak and the Rimfire 1450 with a 35A ESC today. Tower baited me with a $30 off $149 or more order, and I bit. It's backordered till the end of January (ready sometime in late Feb per Tower standards), but I've got plenty to work on between now and then.

RE: Need motor/esc rec for GP EP Yak 54
Hey haz, how are you measuring the draw. I.E. do you have a wattmeter or are you using a vm? Just curious, I think I need to get a rig together to test my e-flight setups. What do you recommend?

RE: Need motor/esc rec for GP EP Yak 54
I think you'll need a 35A ESC to be safe.

RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!
Those parts may not have a place on the Yak. The parts tree is probably generic enough that GP uses it with several other kits as well. I don't have the Yak (yet...), but I've had a couple of their flatout kits and always had extra parts left over.

RE: The new electric YAK 54 from Greatplanes!
Well, after all that.... I'm going to power mine with the 1250. I generally overpower my planes, but then again, I practice throttle management. I just like having the extra oomp there if I need it.

RE: Need motor/esc rec for GP EP Yak 54
Thanks for the info. I saw that on the other GP Yak thread today as well. I might go with the Hacker, but if the 1250 does the job just as well, I'm satisfied as it'll be a bolt on installation on this plane. BTW, what kind of test rig are you using to test motors and props? I might want to set up the same thing for me and my club buddies. -Greg

RE: Need motor/esc rec for GP EP Yak 54
Thanks for the info. That's what I need. Do you have any idea how much thrust your are getting out of that setup? What's your all-up configuration weigh? -Greg
