RE: Fokker DRI Build Along
Howdy folks glad to see the birds getting closer Love the Miniature pilot Vid ROTFLOL Mr Bigg Just love that Kessler looking plane and it does look like waldo was getting to him as he was starting to bail LOL I'd go with the neg incidence also or the bolt on stab if I built another. Mine flies great Love the way it handles its like a really big trainer actually and I have flown it in above 25 mph winds she handles just fine, and thats with the Zenoah 26cc so don't afraid to try it out. Here is a real short vid of part of one my flights, a buddy in the club decided to put some effects to it he just wanted to try some things out but never used it before LOL its not too realistic but its funny http://youtu.be/nSPk2iTMS1c

Awesome pics !!!! very nice. I have to say I used to solder very well but I can't get the landing gear solder to stay at all, the cabanes came out fine but I imagine if I landed on the wings they would give too,

RE: Fokker DRI Build Along
Well t least it wasn't too bad in the damage department, thankGod.. I myself just broke my Landing gear solder joints last weekend. For the first time in 2 years My Zenoah decided to start dieing in the air, I thought maybe my choke got flipped on so I hit the choke button quick and it killed the engine immediately LOL so I was about 30 -40 feet up and 50 - 60 yards out over the high corn field and barely moving, but I was able to keep a very shallow dive on her and just reached the end of the corn and she plopped down nose heavy and the front of the wheels hit the runway as the tail was almost resting on the corn stalk LOL Talk about just getting there.. but that was the only damage just to the axels,, nothing bent and the prop didn't even crack but all the solder joints let go :( I just can't get those solder joints to stay on, anyway its the 3rd or 4th repair on them I even used JB weld the last time and that broke free. I don't know why the engine started slowing down like that either, but some friends on another thread gave me some areas to start checking as this is my first gasser.

Ron That is sooooo sweet man, you did a fantastic job on her and she looks awesome in the sky CONGRATS !!!! And yes when waldo is under snow I build in my basement, which the wife doesn't really like to go down into so its all mine LOL And its a beautiful basement, I'm afraid if I throw walls up or put a carpet on the floor I'll lose that. so I just keep it Big, Opened, and cement :) but its a clean basement and doesn't take on water its cool in the summer and warm in the winter, Just perfect.

Ron that looks awesome for sure And the maiden will go just fine in any temp [:D] Ypu did a great job on the scallops, I forgot to mention I used Coverite which is like solartex and I cut slits all the scallops as you did but then thought I probably didn't need too at all as it just melted perfectly with no over hang bumps or slits I actually loved doing the whole plane in that, it was really easy to make it look perfect. its now one of my new favorite wraps. :)

RE: Fokker DRI Build Along
Beautiful pics Ron. We might have a nice short grass runway but we have corn and plenty of it :) 2 weeks ago a plane went down and it took us 1:45 to find it, Last week I had a plane go in and it took us 1:10 minutes to find it. The corn is at that perfect height where its too high to see over it and too low to see under it. Both planes went down because of no elevator control I should be flying my DR-1 tomorrow so I'll post the vid if someone is there to film it for me. I love that plane. I hope the corn doesn't gobble it up LOL

RE: Fokker DRI Build Along
Yeah thats for sure, its very strong and plyable. Awesome stuff. one of my flights with the Dr-1 ended up having a dead battery and as soon as I made two laps I brought it down to 1/4 throttle for a low pass by the runway well it stuck right there and I had no control at all she was just doing the old roller coaster flight climb and dive until she settled into the great big corn stalks well the corn caught it just like a big glove with fingers, and the only damage was a broken Aileron, I Couldn't belive there wasn't a hole in the covering anywhere at all and the broken aileron was just 1 rib and the trailing edge cracked in the same spot so I slit a hole in the covering put some zap on it and re melted the covering back on it took about 8 mintues to fix, and you can't tell it happened at all. Good stuff

RE: Fokker DRI Build Along
I hate the way my Guns are mounted so I will be fixxing that someday soon I hope Roncanell I think Coverite Might have the streaked green finish your looking for I could be wrong, But I went to get solartex for mine and they didn't have the color I wanted in stock So I went with the coverite fabric, and I loved working with it Its my favorite next to Silk wrapping. It goes on so easily and is pretty much seamless. you may want to look into it if you haven't already.

RE: Fokker DRI Build Along
Kahlog I don't think your going to have a problem with this bird at all, Even without looking at all the things wrong you described you had to go back through and fix, you have experience in the warbird department I know from the 109 thread, and you know what your talking about, so I'm sure your going to do a great job on this beauty also. Flying warbirds is a blast and especially the 109, I know what a handful that 109 can be, especially seeing mine was under powered warbirds are a little different breed then the normal type RC trainer and sport planes, but this DR-1 flys like a trainer and no matter what is wrong or off in the build I feel this plane can just about fly with any handicap at all. The Albatross is also on my list of future builds, great stuff right there for sure. Good luck and keep us posted

Very cool Summerwind Can't wait to see it and glad its all working out for you. Kahlog LOL I was dying to put a snoopy in mine, I also received mine with 2 wings done and 1 wing almost finished so I had to go back and correct a few things also but the Guy I got it from had an idea of what he wanted it to be when he started it so I finished it in the colors he wanted to see it done in, He's a great guy they just moved into a small apartment And he didn't have the room to finish it, but he was really happy he got to see it how he wanted it done. And it flys awesome !! he's a little older so he doesn't fly too much anymore only when he's feeling good, and once he took the sticks on this DR-1 he felt great LOL Until he started getting dizzy and handed me back the box LOL

RE: New 81
Hey guys Nice thread, I just recently got the 150 size P-47 it came completely RTF with a saito 1.80 as a guy I kjnow put it all together but has never flown it, he's had it for about 2 years. is this going to be enough engine on it? Just wondering what to expect, I've been a RC Builder and flyer for about 41 years now so I'm no stranger to the habbits of these beautiful war planes. this was just a deal I couldn't pass up even though I prefer to build them myself.
