RE: Zenoah G62 electronic ignition conversion???!
You could also put a spring starter on it. No need for electronic ignition. Also make sure your prop is positioned properly. If properly set up, A G-62 should hand start with ease. (just my 2 cents[;)])

RE: PAINT color Dauntless
Sounds like it's in the Atlantic theater camo scheme which of course had variations. I know Atlantic submarine warfare scheme II camo was NS Dark Gull Grey upper (FS 36231) with NS Insignia white sides (FS 37875) and G Insignia white (FS 17875) undersides. But, I don't know if that fits the aircraft your looking at.

Hard to say exactly where the builder put them. Try putting alittle fuel in the tanks and then blow some air in the fill line. You should hear it bubbling and get a idea of where they are.

RE: Multi-engine Ignition Setup
Personally, I would keep anything ignition related away from anything radio related as much as possible. Especially when running long leads down the wings. I too thought about doing that with my B-29. But why take that chance after all the time and effort that goes into building a 4 engine bomber. Also, If that one battery fails, all your engines are dead. I wouldn't worry so much about the amp draw from the ignition units for a switch but more on the vibration the switch is exposed to. Definetly use HD switchs on everything. And yes, a separate switch for each engine.

RE: Morepower adjustable 3blade scale props
I also picked up one of these units. It looks like a nice setup, But I'm skeptical about the way the blades are clamped into the hub. Is that all thats going to keep them from slipping/ rotating? I didn't get any instructions or info either. And the pitch marks are not visable when clamped in the hub so now I'll have to get a pitch gauge.

I generally use a 18x8 if the engine is new and switch over to a 20 once it's broke in abit. 18x8 or 20x8 will help for a slower landing speed.

Looks awesome! I would highly suggest "brazing" all your copper pipes together on your exhaust system. It does get hot enough to melt silver solder and have parts falling away. ( learned that one the hard way)[;)]

That's looks pretty good. I believe the arf is the same as the kit as far as mounting goes. I might just do alittle more modifying to mine as well. ( But after I get the rest of the thing put together first)[;)].

I'd go with it if you can fit most of it in there. Overkill with a 2 blade, ya. But if your going to swing a 4 blader, you'll need the extra power.

Your probably not going to find much. One can easily make them if you have a drill press. Just get some brass or aluminum tubing and start drilling some holes.

RE: Top-Flite 1/5th F4U Corsair ARF Group Build and modification thread
One of the things I've been working on was a bit of rudder modification. The shape of the top on my particular plane just looked wrong. So I removed the covering and added a bit of balsa and re-shaped rudder top to a more scale apperance. Since I had the covering off, I drilled out some lightening holes and recovered with solartex. Also the spacer between the horizontal stab. and rudder doesn't look right at all as it's about a 1/2" too tall. Sorta looks like a cross between a regular F4U-1 and a F2G. I was going to modify that as well but decided it's not worth it. After all, it is an arf.

Top-flite can simply market the plane without the swastika on the decal sheet and the leave it up to the modeler as to whether or not to put one on.

Why don't you contact Top-Flite and ask them? Can't hurt. If they get enough requests, they might manufacture a limited run on some non-US birds.

Your welcome. I forgot to mention that I also padded the stock mounts with 1/4" blocks to further push out the retract unit to gain alittle more height. That's about all your gonna get out of the stock robart unit. There isn't enough angle in the "A" arms for the post mount in order to lenghthen it more. The post will start to be sweeped forward instead of back or straight up and down and also without too much interference with the stock gear doors.

RE: Big jump in kit prices at Tower
The demand for balsa has gone up drastically do to the production of wind mill blades you find on those huge wind generators. The cores are made out of balsa. The balsa crop can't keep up with the demand, thus driving the cost up which is seriously affecting our hobby.

RE: Top-Flite 1/5th F4U Corsair ARF Group Build and modification thread
Funny, I was working on the same tail retract modification to help remedy the stock squaty setup. This is for those of us who don't have the fancy scale gear set up[:D][:D][:D] This can be done with the existing parts from the arf and some 5/32 music wire. If you been in this hobby awhile, you probably got a box with some old landing gear or cabane wire. First I took the fixed ARF tail gear and drilled out the shaft hole to 5/32. Then I dissmantled the unit to remove the spacer shaft and filed the ends flush. I cut a new piece of 5/32 wire (about 2-3/4) and removed the one in the retract unit and reassembled with the new parts. I used the arf tail wheel and in the stock mounting location, it just fits. A little shimming might be required to get the tail wheel shaft straight up and down when at rest. (or some where close to that) On full scale Corsairs, the tail wheel does stick out abit and the doors close around it. I'll probably move the unit back farther to a more scale position and make a new set of doors. (well, maybe)[;)]
