RE: How does your wife deal with your RC airplane hobby?
ORIGINAL: mirwin
ORIGINAL: dragonov3 My wife doesnt always approve of my hobby/addiction, but she understands that I will not give it up. I have already given up my Harley and drive the hand me down vechicles while she gets the new one. Lets just say she tolerates it. The only thing I can say to someone getting married is to be sure your new wife shares the same interests as you do, otherwise there can be trouble down the road. If I were to get divorced, the next woman(which I seriously doubt I would get married again) would either support me in what I like to do or she can keep on keeping on. To be fair I try very hard to support my wifes hobby. RE: New 60-90 Extra 260
Rocco, Finally stopped raining this past weekend so I maidened mine with the YS 110-S and she performed flawlewssly. Just one click up and 2 clicks right and she flew like a big dog. Half throttle took her to cloud deck C and she landed super nice with a 10-12 knot breeze. At least it was down the runway. SUPER BIRD.. Pics coming. Thanks for building an awesome plane. RE: New 60-90 Extra 260
ORIGINAL: victorzamora What about the advertised free custom throw gauge? Was this the original plan that you decided against...or what?
Victor - My QB did not come with the custom throw gauge either, just the paper rudder deflection meter... I am going ahead with the YS 110FZ-S because that's what I have. I plan to mount it inverted with an inverted Pitts muffler so I'll have to remove the pre-mounted engine eyelets for the smaller engines. So far I have the ailerons and stab/elevator glued, the pull-pull system in place and tail gear installed. I'm using HS 645's all the way around. Frank

Hi Mark, I have changed gears on power from my YS 110FZ S to a Saito FA82 for my Extra 260 .60-.90. Do you think the Saito will be man enough to do vertical uplines for IMAC basic class? I will not be doing any 3D. Thanks, Frank

RE: New 60-90 Extra 260
Yeah, aren't we all a little spoiled. I travel quite a bit so my time is limited so QB is about the only way for me these days but that's not the point. The point is I would have bought the Edge for $170 vs the Extra @ $275...it's the same wing span as the Edge for crying out load and $105 more....!!! That's a large difference for about the same bird in anybody's book. Oh well......Everyone have a great Christmas.

Plane looks great.. Covering is tight, all parts look good. It's just when they say ailerons, elevators are pre-hinged I expect them to be especially when the price is so much more than the Edge. Frank

Hi Mark, I see that these are now in stock so I'm ordering the Extra 260 .60-.90 size QB today and have a YS 110-S laying around to put on it. Will the width of it fit inside the cowl if I invert it? Yes, I got the hop-up package for $449. I am mistaken, it is 1/2" out to far so I need to modify the firewall to achieve the 1/8" This is my first with that type of thing so would you mind walking me thru your recomendation to reset the firewall? Thanks, Frank.

Hey Rich, I bought the 3MM TOC 53 from Tom Faucett at Wild Hare last week and just got it in. The hub is 1/4" past the cowl with the engine against the firewall. Would you move the firewall back for a tighter fit? Thanks, Frank

RE: 30% SD Models Extra 260 87"
ORIGINAL: soarrich http://lsproengines.com/default_003.htm Disregard the thrust readings for the MT57, they are lower than what is shown, I did the test on a very windy day and that really helps the readings. I have nothing to do with selling the engines, LS is a friend of mine and I did the website just for fun. I have to do changes to his website, but my computer had a problem so It'll be a couple more days until I can make changes. The MT50 doesn't have the power you need, the MT57 and MT62 do, LS is bringing in headers and canisters for the engines at a real good price for MT owners, I tested the canister it's nice, very mellow sound. On my SD 260 I opened the back of the tunnel and now have a flow thru tunnel, it took 15 minutes and a piece of 1/4"x1/2"x7" balsa. Doing that you have very minimal cutting to the cowl, and great cooling.
Hey man, Love the flow thru tunnel. Frank
