I'm sure most of you guys know, but I will mention it anyway. Most RC Racers use a flood chamber for self righting the boat.

Did you check to make sure there was no binding in the drive train? any resistance could cause problems. Are you running 4s or 3s? If you are running 4s, make sure your motor is rated for that amount of voltage.

Nice pictures, thanks. I love many pictures in a thread. You know, "a picture is worth a thousand words" [:D] I always save my pictures on a storage drive under category folders, then model name folders. For example; the category folder would be RC Boats, the model folder would be NQD Jet Boat. They are quick and easy to find and I never mind reposting them. [;)]

RE: Unofficial
It is better to connect the water to the esc first then to the motor. The esc is generally more important and can't stand as much heat as the motor can.

What's the amp rating of those cells? I would try to find a 2s lipo pack that fits. I'm sure there are plenty. I am also sure 2s will push it beyond it's traction and stablility limits and would be plenty fun.

If you order off of ebay and it's not a brand name, I would go with a higher amp rating. I'm in a rush to leave for work, but you could start with the stock pinion and spur gear and check temps frequently. I'll get back to you later.

WOW! Somebody found my old thread and I'm still subcribed![X(] The Tranny is steel and will handle brushless just fine. This is a very good truck and a good size. I liked it because it's bigger than all the 1.18 scale trucks and bigger than most 1/16 scale trucks. It uses 12mm hex hubs for the wheels which makes getting upgrade tires very easy. It also uses a standard size servo which makes upgrading that very easy and finally it uses 540 size motors and 550 size motors will fit also. This truck was very cool. [8D]

Preacher, Hobbypartz is a great USA supplier. I use them all the time. They also have great batteries. I use the Gens Ace in most of my planes. The motor you picked looks good to me, I used to run fast electric boats all the time. I usally try to over rate my esc by a good margin. I ordered a 50amp from Hobbycity. Here is a 60 amp from hobby partz that would work fine. http://www.hobbypartz.com/seaking60aboat.html This would help save the esc in the even that the motor may get something stuck in it and the amps sky rocet. I am sure others will offer good advice also for you to choose from.

Using balloons to water proof receivers in rc boats is very common and works great. they even sell "Receiver Balloons" at offshoreelectrics.com. You should even use some silicone on the opening where the wires comes out.

Hey guys, I had a promotional email from Tower for $20 off a $50 purchase. So I ordered two of the traxxas 2080 water proof servos. I will use one of them on my NQD and the other on my Mini Summit[:D] However, I can't believe that they came with out servo horns[:@] I mean really??? What the heck??[:'(] That is the first time I have ever received a servo with out servo horns. Come on Traxxas, you SUCK!!! JR and Hitec always come with servo arms. Lesson learned. So now I have to order servo horns

Thanks Martin, I will report how the esc holds up, fingers crossed :) I haven't ran it yet. Still waiting on my upgrades to arrive. I will start out with 2s and then try 3s and check temps. I know what silver tape is, I used it on a summer job one time. I like Hockey tape alot. It is very strong and comes off without leaving behind any residue. It's even sold by offshoreelectrics.com. Try it, you might switch over.

Do you have it sealed somehow? When the top of the hull is cut and the hatch is only held on by two loose clips, it's hard to believe it wouldn't take on much water upside down. It would even be worse in a stream with small rapids.
