RE: Nose Art & Squadron Insignia / P-47
ORIGINAL: splais thanks for the videos, love looking at those old actual movies. I have a silver Ultracote covered P-47 I am working on. I had stumbled on a great product called Testors Dullcoat and was thinking about using it on the P-47. I've tested it and it does an awesome job of ''dulling'' shinny covering. You just mist it on and voila, shin all gone. Seems to have no effect as far needing to iron any spots later on. It would be a great product for WWI aircraft; but I think silver P-47's were relatively shinny it looks like.
I have used Krylon clear matt and satin spray on my planes in the past over covering with great effect. I'm all gas so I don't have to worry about glow fuel proofing.

RE: Nose Art & Squadron Insignia / P-47
ORIGINAL: splais One other question - does anyone know if a relatively new P-47 had a dull or shinny appearance?
That depended on the paint scheme. Early models were painted with OD green that was flat to semi-gloss. Late war planes that were mostly bare aluminum were shiny. Watch this field assembly of this [link=https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkrUMT1d3C4&list=PL3tTPEkkv8Gx7PCxriMP-kC0dBhfG5baM]early full scale WWII P-47 ARF[/link] and you can see how the sun reacts to the dull paint.

I use the same gas/oil mixture in practically all my small gas engines. Pure gas with Stihl Ultra and all is well with my little engines.

RE: Cool new 3 blade prop on the market
ORIGINAL: skillet92 WD No i dont care either. I think it looks great. I would love to put something like this on my 74'' ESM Corsair. Just dont know if I could turn it with any engine that would fit that plane.
You are right, the prop is rated for 45-60cc engines which is a bit much for the 74" ESM corsair. Maybe the 45cc RCGF would work? The prop would look scale and it would have loads of power.

No it's not just you but the shipping companies are sticking it in and breaking it off. Fuel prices have brought an end of the golden days of shipping. I can remember getting giant scale planes shipped back in 2007-2008 for $20.00-$30.00.

True old school artisan craftsmanship. Great work splinterz25 and thanks for sharing with us. I don't remember seeing anyone with the guts to make their own fiberglass spinners. Can't wait to see how this turns out. I worked in fiberglass for 10 years so I know how those pesky bubbles can be a pain in the butt.

RE: What Aircraft are you installing your DLE20
Finally acquired one of these little dolls. Going to put it in a new GP RV-4. I already have an RV-4 with a Zenoah G20 and it's a decent good combination. My current RV-4 started out with a OS 91 fs and it was about as perfect as a plane and engine could be together. This DLE 20 will get it very close to what I had with the 91fs but with about 3-4 times the power. Should be a superb combination.

RE: 35 or 55 DLE for 80 inch yak
What brand of Yak? The determining engine size factors are what style you want to fly, the weight of the plane and the wing loading. If the plane is in the 18lbs. or less range and you don't care for 3D, the 35 might be OK.

RE: RANT: The
I feel your pain. I bought a Hanger 9 P-47 150. While I was building it they discontinued it. They did redesign and bring back a P-47 150. I bought a Hanger 9 P-51 150. Within a month it was discontinued. They brought back a short run of them recently, no improvements. I bought a Great Planes Aeromaster and it was shortly discontinued. Will never see the light of day again. I bought a Great Planes performance series Sukhoi SU-31 a few months later they discontinued. I need a damn cowl GP!
