RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
ORIGINAL: akpepp When I buy a chevy I do not see it as supporting ideas that were stolen from ford. In the modern world you produce a product and you only have a short time before people start to copy it. Knowledge is a short lived luxury. How you compete in the modern world is by service and striving for excellence. If you are going to by sparkplugs for your vehicle, do you think ford cares that it’s a chevy….of course not. They are glad to sell you the parts you need regardless of what make car you have. Why is this…its good business! I own one turbine. A Jetjoe 1400, because it was less expensive and by the way, I am a happy JJ cusotmer. So is buying a JJ supporting theft. No way! Turbine design is common knowledge. I have been followong this thread for some time and am truly sick of JJ bashers. Please just go somewher else.
Perhaps if you bought a Chevy that was IDENTICAL to a Mustang in every way, you would see that you were supporting those who had ripped off Ford. Dude: be real. You know and I know and everyone reading this knows that JetShmoe ripped off Wren on the MW-54 design. If you need to deny that fact to be able to live with yourself, well, have at it bro!!! But that don't change the facts!!! [X(]

RE: Jetjoe 3000 turbine
Wow, that IS pretty good! Take note all you folks thinking about buying a JetShmoe, now there is an alternative that works! Do they have higher thrust models? If so, how much???

How low a cost is Kingtech, compared to JetShmoe (just to be sure to stay on-topic!)???

RE: JetJoe OWNERS thread
ORIGINAL: dynopower >>> The products they make are pretty poor. I myself have only seen one JJ engine flying despite being at a large number of meetings. That was extremely noisy as it was well out of balance. At the World Jet Masters in Ireland I saw my second engine. This was most embarrassing or amusing depending on your point of view as it was clearly not set up right and did not want to start despite help from a number of knowledgeable people. Eventually it was started but it had so little power that it could not get the plane airborne. It just did a number of fast taxies past the judges and was retired. This is the kind of user I was refering to. He obviously cant figure much out. I can show you one that has plenty of power and runs and starts great! But it takes a little fettling! If you are a artf flyer then buy an expensive completely sorted motor from a known manufacturer. I see JJ motors as a well built home built that needs some fine tuning and a little setting up. The bits are better than I can make so no longer need to bother. But it takes a little effort to check them out to be sure its going to run well. That said its still a copy in the same way that people download music or movies or fake rolexes. That I do have issues with. More so if I was Wren!
So you know the JJs are copies of Wren engones and have admitted as much, but you still feel you are not contributing to theft by buying JJ products? HUH????

RE: Jetjoe 3000 turbine
Wow, what a guy!!! No one here is bashing those who buy JetJoes, I certainly am not. What I, however, intend is to warn as many newbies as possible to stay away from JJ. It is VERY clear that their chances of failure in the turbine R/C world is increased by an order of magnitude with a JetJoe. It should be abundantly clear by now to anyone that has read all of this that if your deal is that you want to fiddle and try to get it to run and fix, disassemble, re-assemble, play around, then yes: JetJoe is a valid choice. However, if you want to fly, fly, fly, avoid JetJoe like the plague! That is the truth, no matter what BJ says. Honest.

RE: Jetjoe 3000 turbine
ORIGINAL: BJ64 And if you opt for second-hand, work out what the dud pre-loved piece shyte you just bought cost you (and the seller told you NEVER had a problem - was always well maintained, serviced regularly, never over-revv'ed or over-temped, or crashed, flys like a dream, runs like a swiss watch, but the main bearings just happened to sh!t themseleves THE very first time YOU started it because your fuel/oil/the way you hold your tongue was wrong). And all the bullsh!t you go through to try and get it fixed by so-called ''experts'' (backyard hacks) who are in business for one reason, and one reason only - to make money out of you and rip you off blind. Because... model Jet Turbines are really ''high tech''. What a load of tired old Crap. I'd rather buy a new piece of 'reputed junk' than something someone else is trying to get rid of. But, if you do go down that path, ask them one question: Why are you getting rid of it? If they answer you with ''I'm upgrading my aircraft'' - toss it in the bin. No-one re-sells something that is good - period. There will always be another plane that they can put that Turbine into - hell, you there's no such thing as ''too many planes''. The guys that are telling you ''don't buy a new JetJoe'' are really trying to say ''buy my old crapper - I'm done with it, and I need your money so that I can buy something better''. Think about it - if I have something that works perfectly, why would I want to sell it? There will always be some aircraft that will come along that I could put that ''perfectly good Turbine'' into. Unless, of course, it's totally stuffed... BJ:)
AndyBoy, ignore the above rubbish. I currently have five turbines (one Wren and four AMTs) and will soon have another (a JetCentral Falcon). I bought each and every one of them used. Each one runs perfectly and always has (only had one minor issue with the Wren that Sarah helped me with, all is fine). The trick is to make certain that you are either buying from a well known person here on R/C U that is well respected, or have some other recourse. These turbines are rather simple rotating machines, no rocket science. They are difficult to make due to the tolerances required (this is typically why JJ cannot produce a working example). But once a manufacturer is established and turns out a quality product, they will run and run barring any crash damage. This is exactly why you should pursue a used engine, if money is tight. Take your time and select well. That is what I did and I have zero complaints about my "reputed junk"!!! HA!

AndyBoy, go ahead and buy the JJ piece o' poopy. From what I have seen in the past years, you are probably running the odds of being 70% completely dissatisfied. Don't listen to the few who "claim" to have a reliable JJ. They are VERY few and far between. And I have no vested interest what so ever in you buying an elitist turbine. I just hate to see a newcomer swindled by JetJoe. But if you must, be my guest and buy a piece of feces!

RE: Jetjoe 3000 turbine
Andy boy, you said "please no violent answers i would like to hear from those who have a jet joe". But the problem is, most of the folks who actually have a JetJoe on here are going to tell you they are a good deal and that they run. That is likely due to the fact that most who have bought them have found them to be junk, learned their lesson and moved on. Many of them will never see this post to reply about how they wasted their money. It has been said many, many times before: do yourself a HUGE favor. Buy a used Wren or AMT or Jetcat or whatever that is in decent shape. You will end up with a trubine that actually runs more than three times in a row and you can actually fly it instead of constantly shipping it back and forth! You will not regret your decision to buy a decent brand.

RE: XPS 2.4 Module ??
True, the initial dishonesty that XPS displayed turned off many a potential customer. No matter what some of the XPS supporters say about the original system, those who have followed this closely know there were BIG issues. It may now be a viable system, but JD urinated up-stream far too much to be trusted now. If you have any sense, avoid XPS like the plague. Especially with the solid performance of JR/Futaba/Weatronics/Jeti 2.4 systems, why in the world would anyone with a valuable model even consider taking a chance??? Sure, some will say "I know this guy that had a JR go in and this guy that had a Futaba go in". Of course, feces happens. But that in no way implies you should trust XPS!

This is all fine and dandy, but I have been watching this thread for years hoping to catch a glance of EasyTiger. Does anyone have some clear photos of ET? I have been R/C U buds with him (now R/C Freedom) for a long time and I have yet to see what the heck he looks like. Sure, there was that one sideways photo of him with an electric plane, but it was not worth crap. I want ET photos!!!!
