RE: anyone out there know about the Hobbico quick field charger mkII?
steady read means it's charging a nicad, steady yellow is charging a nimh, steady green is lipo. the legend is on the front. press the start button for which side you're charging once for nicad, twice for nimh and 3 times for lipo. It will beep several times when the charge is complete, then go to a trickle charge mode, indicated by a flashing light.

RE: Tower .75 Carb fit--Help
Just a quick one to put my .02 in. I had trouble with my first TH 75 with not being able to shut it down with the trim at the end of the flight in my 4 * 60, using a 12/6 prop. Bax had me establish an idle at about 23-2400 and have a reliable transition, and after a good break in period it was easy to fly reliabily, and still idle slowly enough to land...and you know how a 4 * floats. It's going onto the Venture 60 I've been building for the past few months. Clint[&:]

RE: Sig Four-Star 60
[:)] I've had two 4* 60's, and i took the items on the decal sheet that is a circle w/a plus sign in it and mounted them on the side of the fuselage, one at the fwd of recommended CG, one at the aft one. then, balanaced the planes to the center area. This resulted in a slightly nose heavy balance when flying, but the airplane balanced level. When I wanted to explore other areas of flight, I moved the CG slightly aft, which resulted in a faster response to the flight controls in pitch. Unfortunately, the demise of these excellent aircraft was MY fault, not the plane. Presently, I'm putting a Venture 60 together, from Bruce Tharpe. it's easier to see these markings when looking under the wing, and not having to look up, but at the side of the fuse. Clint[&:]

RE: Yet another Venture 60 build thread
I found that the forstner bit set that's been accumulating many months of dust came in handy drilling those holes in the wing ribs. One thing that might help is to put a backing piece of balsa on top and bottom to prevent the possibility of tear out as the bit goes thru the stack. I moved my servos to the back, making some plates to fit into the sides of the fuse where the lightening holes were cut out. I also changed to a Sullivan tail wheel. I'll be using a Tower Hobbies 75 with a pitts muffler, but I'm not having much luck making a cowl for mine....it'll probably fly for a while with the motor hanging out in the breeze. Good luck! I retired from the Air Force Aircraft as an Aircraft Mechanic in 1989, then I had to get out and go to work for a living. I worked 1 1/2 yrs at Douglas Aircraft in Long Beach on the then new MD-11, transferred to the Saudi Arabian Project Peace Sun project, trying to teach those who didn't want to learn that which they didn't want to learn. Now, work as a contractor Senior Phase A & P mechanic at Vance AFB, OK on T-1A Jayhawks. (same as the civilian 400 Beechjet). You gotta go where the job is. Clint [:D]

I cannot figure out why it would not stay on. WINGS are held on with basically the same hardware. Push comes to shove, put a hinge one one side or the other and make a latch for the other side. I work on the equivilent of the Raytheon Beech Jet and we have panels retained with 1/4 turn fastners....and the are definately flying faster than 75 MPH.

Elevator->flap trim capability.
Evidently, I'm missing something, both in how to program my 7 CAP radio, and how to post on this site. I've got my aircraft configured with dual aileron sevos, channels 2 & 6, normal configuration for elevator, rudder and throttle. I have a single flap servo plugged into channel 5. Flaps are controlled with 3 position switch, G, to have up, 1/2 and full down positions. The ailerons operate properly with the flaprn selected on, diff set at 0. I have set the ELE->FLP to ON, RT set to -50%. When the flaps are set to 1/2 and/or 100%, I am wanting to have some down elevator applied. No movement when switch G is set to middle/3rd position. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Clint Biediger.

RE: Exhaust Deflector options
I've seen others use a bit or wire twisted around the area that does slip over the exhaust outlet, then run it over and secure it to the engine mount or head somewhere. Another idea is to use a cable tie and secure the wire to it, this would prevent the wire from cutting the rubber on the deflector. Clint

This is an accurately cut kit, and I've not put that many together in several years. I'm at a point where I'm making a cowl for the engine, so I've at a bit of a standstill. It's gonna have a TH 75, dual aileron servos, and I moved the elevator/rudder servos to the aft fuselage. I've GOT to get this done, as I've already decided a Delta Vortex is next on the table. RE: Tower Hobbies .75 Muffler Extension???
I just had the same problem, and there isn't one that I've been able to find. I made one by tracing the muffler gasket onto a strip of .125 aluminum sheet. then used a drill press to cut out the inner areas, drill the mount holes and a dremel to smooth the center areas out. I then used a playing card to make gaskets for each side. I'll find out tomorrow how it works...and/or leaks. Probably could do the same with thicker aluminum stock. Clint

tower 75 parts and problems.
I hope this is the right area for this one. I have a couple Tower Hobbies 75 engines.....one brand new, never run, the other is giving me fits, again. It will start, runs at high idle, transitions good to high speed, but when returning to idle it will continue to run at about 4500 rpm, will slow if i push in on the low speed screw. Additionally, are there any extensions to move the muffler away from the side of the aircraft, say 1/4 to 3/8 inch, that goes between muffler and head of the engine? Thanks, Clint

This might or might not work for you...but if I've had to trim off a portion of the long roll of coating, I removed the cardboard tube, rerolled the coating, marked where the cut was and used a sharp pair of sissors to cut it thru at the rolled up point.....hope that's understandable. I'm kinda new at covering as well.

Hobbico Power Panel problem
I've a question.......or concern.......about a Hobbico Deluxe Power Panel II. The first one had a problem in the refuel circut was working only in one direction, not a real problem, as the electric pump I use has it's own fuel/defuel switch. I had checked the battery voltage at the 12 volt outputs for the pump, starter and the glow charger nipple and had the proper voltages. When I checked the glow heat output voltage, which should be approximately 1.2 volts, it's reading 11+ volts. I used another volt meter to verify this, receiving the same readings all around. I called Hobbico and they sent me another, w/o question.......the only problem, the glow heat output voltage on this one is also 11+ volts........no matter the position of the dial for the position. I haven't tried hooking a glow plug to it yet, not wanting to selfdestruct one just for the fun. Any suggestions? Clint

Just my 2 cents, I've got a Tower Hobbies 75 in mine and it flies great.....good power, usually less that 20 feet t/o roll. I'm using Riches Brew 15%, 12x6 prop and tach about 12,300 on the ground. Idle is about 2500. I usually get about 15-20 min on 14 oz.s fuel. Starts great. Clint
