RE: Large volume hotbox
Hi Tom, wish you all the best, just hope it turns up. Here in Germany it appears to be the 'in thing' not to deliver if the price is too low. I've no idea what it's like in the States, but here it's too much hassle to sue the seller and evilBay are of no help.[:o] Regards. Karl. P.S. I'm glad that this theme cropped up as I'm in need of a large hotbox.

RE: Dag Autogyro
Hi wwwiiizzzyyy, I've never had a DAG, so I can't help you with the figures. But, I did have a similar result when I first started, thank goodness without the 'Exitus Effect'. I think you have over powered the kite resulting in an accentuated climb, thus resulting in the loop. Back off somewhat on the power before launching, and this will result in a shallower climb. Once you have achived the hight you want, back off slowly untill you have level flight. One other thought, do you have the correct down thrust on your motor? Best of lck. Karl.

Hi kapSidEm, just a small piece of advice. The term petrol is International English, most of the descriptions for models are in American English. So when looking through the IN for a model check for the American term gasoline, or gas. Hope this helps. Regards. Karl.

All I can say is "shades of LAHeli". Anything that sells well is copied by our 'friends' from the far, so I wondered how long it would take before the copies of the LAs would appear. Mmm! seems like it took a little longer this time. At least the shipping for the LAs is a lot cheaper in this part of the world.

Hi Shawn, Lindinger Modellbau (Austria) have an original Ikarus Bell 222 fuse for €159.00 (their order no. # 75338), shipping to the US €20.00 or €40.00 express. I asked them what type of material was used but they didn't answer this question. Their web page is [link]http://shop.lindinger.at/product_info.php?products_id=75338&language=en[/link], or you can contact them at office @ lindinger.at (spaces added both sides of the @ symbol), you can use Engish. RE: Ikarus ECO 8 fuselage
Hi Skippy, most of my data for the ECO8 is located on my other machine which, at the moment, is not operational. [:o] The ECO8 is almost dead today with very little support, including from Ikarus (none of the 3 fuses they had are being offered anymore). It is out-classe and out-priced by the compeditors. Most of the GF fuses that were available, Bell 222, Jet Ranger, MBB Bo109 etc, are no longer being produced. For a GF fuse, the only one I know of at the moment (a Hind) was available from a UK based guy. Look for heli bee in the RCGroups site he had, at the time, some fuses available. High-Torgue (www.high-torgue.com) have a Hughes 500D fuse in 1mm PET. I think they have flipped the photo as the tail rotor is on the left-hand side. [sm=confused.gif]I also think this is a direct copy of the GF fuse that I have (no longer in production), it has the same flat topped tail boom. There are a few more available, material unknown, just give a little time to do a bit of research and I'll let you know. Regards. Karl. P.S. Have a look at Item 200298107907 in eBay.de. If you need help just let me know..

Plea for help from a Statesider.
HEEELP!!! Woe is me, for I lie in the deepest depth of despondency.[:o] There is a rare technical publication being offered in eBay covering the Rotodyne. The vendor, to my utter dismay, is not prepared to ship outside of the States. [:o][:o] I have no friends or personal contacts residing in the States so I'm looking for a Statesider who would be prepared to reship the item to Germany, that is if I win the auction (or even bid, as the price is the rising faster that Mum's bread). [:(] I will, of course, pay for the item directly and reimburse all costs involved. I will also add your name to my list as one of the greatest guys on the Earth. [sm=teeth_smile.gif][sm=teeth_smile.gif] If anyone is prepared to help, please not all at once, e-mail me or send a PM. Many thanks in advance. Karl. P.S. A PayPal account would be of an advantage, so I can tranfer the shipping costs.

RE: Fairey Rotodyne again... ;-)
ORIGINAL: JCaste I don't know which particular setup used the Rotodyne
The original Rotodyne used a fixed rotor shaft. Due to the problems of routing the linkage around the air ducting etc. they located the swashplate in the dome housing above the rotors (see below). Because the Rotodyne took-off as a heli the rotor angle could be kept to an absolute minimum. If you want the angle I'll leave it up to you to calculate it from the dimensions show below. [:D][:D][:D] Regards. Karl. Edit: Images uploaded.

RE: Fairey Rotodyne again... ;-)
Grussti Philipp, the only thing I can come up with is in effect a joy stick mechanism, wereby the joy stick is the rotor shaft. The potentiometers would be replaced by servos. But this leads to a problem, either you use very strong, heavy, servos or a gear-box to up the torque. If gear-boxes are used then this will slow down the reaction time. I may well be wrong, but as far as I can see if you use any other form of control then you will run into non-linear movement. Why don't you use a heli swashplate? Simpler, also lighter servos and less weight. I'll be watching this theme as I also have an interest in this matter. If you need drawings, large scale, of the original aircraft just PM me or send an email. Servus. Karl.

RE: LH or RH Rotation?
Hi, this of course leads to the question. Why are most model helis built with CW rotation when, as Hooker50 points out, the originals have CCW? I could understand this if the rotor shaft is screwed into the drive unit, but I've never owned a model with a screwed in shaft. Karl.

RE: Hirobo Bell 222 build & painting project
Hi Gary, I ran into the same problem. It appears there are variations concerning the anti collisions strobes Here is a quote from an American operator. "The anti collision's strobe is located in the center of the belly underneath the front seats. I have also seen them with two strobes one on top of the doghouse centered. Lense color is either clear or red. Ours are clear for a Department of the Interior". I have the German regs, which I don't think will help you, somewere but I haven't got round to reading them yet. Hope this will be of some help to you. Regards. Karl.

RE: LAheli C30 Kit.
PART III. Well today is Christ's Heavenly Drive (free translation from the German). Good news, LAheli have supplied a replacement fuse and all parts are correctly located, The fuse still has a crease in it, but it is hardly noticable. Plus a very apologetic e-mail quoting that they will have to take up this subject with the supplier. Seeing that both LA and FSK have their logos on the box there is no way of knowing who does the final packing or who to send the bomb to. [:D] Well I'll get onto Part III. The first two photos show the first page of the building instructions. Instruction #3, see second photo, quotes "After final assembly of motor, glue in the exhaust pipes (I)". [sm=confused.gif] This instruction lead me into a tizwas, coz eye ain't scene enyfing lyk id in fotoes. [sm=tongue_smile.gif] I think that LA are having a bit of fun with us. Don't be fooled by this instruction, item (I) is not an exhaust pipe but the control column (or should I say control pole [sm=lol.gif] ), see third photo. The rest of the kit appears to be of good quality, and even though the instructions are not the best of translations they are usable. Regards. Karl.

RE: Hirobo Tow Cobra - Extreme Makeover Paint Job
Hi Steve, so it was Gelang, wasn't sure as it was a long time ago. When was I there? Well as I said it was a long time ago, I think it was 1761 to 64 or was it 1861 to 64. [sm=wink_smile.gif] In those days we only had home made single channel equipment, no tranistors, and weighed a ton. [sm=biggrin.gif] I also flew a few gliders, but it could be expensive when the batteries ran flat, very strong thermals, and the tail fuse (type that you light) failed to work. The things disapeared up country, mostly never to be seen again. One was returned from Segamat in northern Jahore, we placed chits, with our names and addresses and an offer of a reward if the kites were returned, inside the fuse. Would love to see the place again, but I don't think there's much chance now. [sm=sad_smile.gif] Regards. Karl. P.S. Did the Tigers go down well?

Hi Steve, mines one it's way, but I forgot to ask for your address. [sm=red_smile.gif] So if you find a lonesome Cobra crawing around, stick it in a bag and send it back to me please. [sm=lol.gif] I see you live not far from Paya Lebar airfield, that place was opened while I was there but as the Singapore Airport. It replaced the old one, if I remember correctly it was in Gelang. My how Singepore has changed, I saw programme on TV about the current city, it lasted of one hour and I didn't recognise any of the places that I once knew except for the Raffles Hotel. [sm=spinnyeyes.gif] Do you fly in the resevoir park? I would have thought it would be almost impossible to find a place to fly, there's not much free space left now. [sm=tongue_smile.gif] Keep up the good work and thanks for the time and effort that you've put into these posts. Regards. Karl. P.S. Have a couple of Tigers on me. [:D]
