RE: Spektrum DX18 Programming
Dominic, You are right the Skywalker is out of production , I dont think CARF will be interested in it. I dont have a video but I test flew my friend's Skywalker with the Cheetah and it was a BLAST ! Its like a BIG Funjet on steroids and cocaine and the slow speed is fantastic too. Madmodelman I dont think Elevon B only reverses , that option is available from the reverse menu any way. The Elevon B option shows up on the menu screen with an additional servo in the center .

Spektrum DX18 Programming
I just got the new Spektrum DX 18 and was plannin to use it in a Skygate Skywalker. The Skywalker is like a bigger version of the Multiplex Funjet . The Skywalker manual calls for programming the control surfaces as Elevons. I finally managed to get everything working with the DX18 , but in the main system menu after you selct the Wing Type as Delta , It offers 2 elevon options : Elevons Elevon B I could not figure out what Elevon B was and the programming manual offers no detail on it. Has anybody tried the Elevon B option .

Electrifying Pneumatic Retracts
Hi Guys Does anyone know who does electric conversions for standard retract units like BVM etc ? I'd like to convert my KC and BC to electric retracts. I think I saw some electric retracts on the BV site but i dont think there is an electric option for the KC

RE: Spekrum Airspeed Telemetry
Alasdair I think you've cracked it !!! Your observations are correct, that's exactly what's happening The high speeds recorded by the ASI unit are low, however the low speeds i.e landing speeds +- 35 is what it was consistently recording which are what is expected of a Kingcat.

RE: Spekrum Airspeed Telemetry
Hi Steve, From what I understand you hvae located the pitot in the front of the boom whereas the pitot on my KC is not too far of from the boom probably 1.5" away on the leading edge of the fuse. I dont know how much thrust a RAM 1000 puts out but I think 167mph with a Peggy at WOT is poor performance or the ASI needs calibration. I considered putting the pitot in the nose but I need to stand the model up on its nose sometimes while getting it in and out of the car .

Spekrum Airspeed Telemetry
Hi Guys, Has anybody used the Spektrum telemetry system with the Airspeed Sensor. I just installed the Spektrum TM1000 module and the Airspeed unit downlinked to an iPad on my Kingcat. The KC is powered by a AMT Pegasus - Strangely for a 30lb airplane with 37lbs thrust the speed we could record were not over 167 mph/Kmph (Not sure what the default units for speed are on the STi App) This was the speed recorded with the Peggy at WOT coming out of a dive Visually the KC appeared to be well over 200++mph . I tried the same thing with 2 different pitot tubes - one is the pitot that comes with the airspeed sensor and the other pitot from a Jetcat unit. Both recorded similar figures. I checked the connections again i.e the Airspeed sensor has 2 ports one for the Static pressure and one for the Dynamic pressure marked -ve and +ve on the sensor. Any idea if the unit has to be calibrated ?

Spektrum Telemetry TM1000
Hi Has anybody tried the Spektrum TM1000 telemetry module with any of the Powerbox Cockpit or Royal series. I just installed the TM1000 in my airplane but i had to connect the unit to the receiver and not thru the Powerbox. The TM1000 comes with a standard 3 wire JR type cable to connect to the telemetry port , where as the Powerbox has a 4 pole wire with the white connector for Spektrum telemery. If I use the Airspeed sensor there isnt another 4 pole port left on the TM1000.

RE: Powerbox iGyro
Sounds good Dave, Added to my shopping list at Jetpower 2012
ORIGINAL: Dave Wilshere Selecting the wing type The iGyro features an integral delta mixer. This makes it possible to exploit the advantages of heading-lock gyro stabilisation on aileron and elevator even with a model delta! This mixer can be activated in the GENERAL SETTINGS menu point. If your model is a delta, simply select YES at the DELTA-WING point. Caution:if your model is a delta, you must not set up a delta mixer at the transmitter. The iGyro carries out the mixing. The iGyro analyses the aileron and elevator signals from the transmitter, calculates the deviation according to the sensors, and generates the signal for both delta control surfaces (elevons). The mixed delta signals are available at the AILERON-A and ELEVATOR-A outputs. AILERON-A should be assigned as aileron, and ELEVATOR-A as elevator, as described under point 4.6. In this case ELEVATOR-B is available for vector control or a canard system, and can be set up independently. Cool [:)]
I'm installing the JMP Airtrap in my KC. The instructions say in addition to the membrane sac there is a filter inside too. I havent looked inside it but can anybody confirm this ? If thats the case I can eliminate one fuel filter from the line.

RE: wiring of AMT CTF button
Ray , Im setting up a Pegasus in my Kingcat too . Im setting it up for the single channel operation. I have a few questions: Can one use a metal Kavan type filter instead of the plastic Festo filter supplied with the engine ? Why is the filter suggested on the upstream of the pump(Suction side) in the manual? Can the fuel solenoid be eliminated and replaced by a manual shut off valve ? Does the CTF switch stay connected at all times and in the airframe ? Somewhere in the manual it says it can be removed. What lead is the GSU connected to during the start up ?

Jim I have a KC with a XL200 too ! It has over 150 flights on it now , the XL needs to go back to Wren for a check up. KC + XL is a great combo but a little more power would be nice. Craig- Did you end up with any extra noseweight on your KC with the Peggy ? How much downthrust did you need on the turbine ?

Kingcat with AMT Pegasus
Hi Guys, I'm setting up my new Kingcat and this time around decided to try the AMT Pegasus. The Peggy as you may know is probably one of the heaviest turbines around . Plus I'll be adding a 1~1.5 lit smoke tank + Pump etc Many of the new gen turbines producing similar thrust are far lighter (Thrust to weight ratios) Considering the weight penalty do you think its still worth putting a Peggy on a KC or should I just choose something like a Rhino ?

RE: Dreamworks Startup-Overflow Vent System
My apologies Todd - I did wonder why an otherwise very well made and thought of vent system didn't consider wear on the O rings. I guess your explanation clears up all my doubts.

RE: Dreamworks Startup-Overflow Vent System
Hi Todd , I just ordered a few of these and got to see it up close today. Here are my initial thoughts on it. The inside of the vent system (mounted on the airplane end) is threaded and is sealed off with a flagged screw plug , while the probe that is to connect to the vent and the external tank is provided with 2 O rings . It wont be long before the O rings get damaged with the probe being pushed in and out and start leaking air. It would therefore have been better to have designed the vent plug also with the O ring kind of design rather than the screw type closure, to prevent this. IMO it would prevent damaging the O rings and still been able to seal off the fuel system for transport.

RE: The 250mph Swist F5D
Looks good Henke !! Im sure it'll be as fast if not faster than an Opus on the same power. Im runnin a Kolibri T25 on my opus and I get about 4.5 min at WOT. This IMHO is the biggest downside of an Opus. It flies great BUT the runtime is limited due the size of tank you can squeeze in. Also the ECU, RX and batteries in the nose is too tight a squeeze and the fuel lines tend to get kinked no matter how you run them. But once thats done its pure unadulterated fun and extreme performance. Hopefully since you've designed your own tank you'll probably see the same performance with much more run time Keep us posted

RE: Paritech 5m DG303 Turbine glider
John, The 5m DG303 is a little small to have the turbine retract into the fuse, especially with the supersport . With the Supersport you need at least 1lit of fuel and the tank if placed on or near the CG will takke up too much place wher ethe turbine is too be retracted . Paritech claims the 5m DG flies even with a P20 or kolibri or Wren 44 Gold, maybe the 44could be made to retract inside.

RE: Paritech 5m DG303 Turbine glider
OK Guys , Finally its test flown yesterday , all I can say is this ones a keeper !! It flies just perfect , oodles of power from the supersport , the 1.3L fuel tank that I salvaged from a crashed bandit works perfectly. This is the first time Ive used spoilers and Im just astounded by how they work. For landing I flew in a clean config (no flap) and just popped the spoilers on short finals and the plane that otherwise floated the lenght of the runway stopped at my feet

Hi I have set the incidence parallel to the wing centerline. But the turbine is set at 3 -4 deg right thrust , this is to prevent the hot exhaust from hitting the tail directly. This was confirmed by paritech . It does help, I had posted some pics of the turbine install in a dfferent post

RE: Futura CG
Pete, I flew mine with CG at the center of the wing tube but I think the model is still noseheavy and its a very conservative CG recommended by the manufacturer.I also remember I had a something like 800gm of nose weight to get to the recommended CG position. This was with a P200 for power You can safely move it back to the rear of the wing tube
