RE: Gas RC was a mistake !!!!
ORIGINAL: lopflyers Hey Yearningtofly, not everything is lost. You still can belong to a club whether it is in public or private property. All you have to do is follow the rules, stay on the box until the instructor certifies you.
my point is if i meet certification and posses the requiste ama insurance why should i have to be a member of a private club to fly over public lands

RE: Gas RC was a mistake !!!!
there is no other side of it as it was not presented in criticism and as evidenced by the many who share the same experience of rudder-less instruction and rudderless flight overall it is not made up or far fetched

You had no control of the model, I saw you try to qualify 3 times in order to qualify for a solo certoficate, each time you did not qualify, amd Isaw you crash twice. For the record, it is not an instructor issue, but that of the pilot.
Wow, every story have two sides, we've reading this guy complaining about the instructor and it was all the way around. I love to go to both clubs I belong to. Besides good place to fly without obstructions, there are your good friends to talk to, share stories and even share tools. I would not trade my clubs here in central fla for 1000 parks
you see there is no complaint about the instructor or field and in several posts clarification by myself of that it is about the rudder is this the kind of spin you use on the ones you dont like in your club ? these are men in these clubs ....a good many military no ?

RE: Why Is 3D Hated?
never joined a club....I wanted to and visited a few and found divided hobbyists...then found this website and this thread and my thoughts were confirmed and it is specifically about exactly as stated in my first post of the thread: infighting among factions in a hobby (e.g. 3D, warbirds, etc) and the lack of leadership which causes the decline and participation to the point it begins to threaten the very hobby itself in many places can you talk about that or like warbirdguy you want to focus on the messenger ?
ORIGINAL: DanMN Yearning, just looked at your posts, and the last one in the 3D debacle thread. If you don't like clubs, don't join one. Be a park flyer. That is fine. You will hear different advice from all people. Most people that I know from clubs are great people. They volunteer their time to help people. Including myself.
where i want to get ......the only suitable flying space, all three here on public domain by the way, and you cant fly without being in the club

i just left a hobby after a good ten year run that was destroyed by this type of inter-faction bullsh!te 95% of the men you meet at these clubs are ex-apollo astronauts, doolitte raiders and jet jockeys....where is the leadership out of that ? good lord, moses, mary and tony janus...........

I found the club isnt for me after buying a combustion trainer There isnt even consensus on usage of the control surfaces among "clubbers". Just left a hobby full of strife among its factions.

RE: Gas RC was a mistake !!!!
Soaking it all in. I am no way speaking negative of the instructor or field / club. Those guys were real nice to me and very accomplished. Get my .46 TT Pro run in tomorrow and going to go to a field in Tampa to reconoiter. If I was instructor the first things I would ask a student after formalities and introductions is: - What do you know about the three axis' of flight and their respective control surfaces ? - What is your vision and when was it last checked ? - What is your panic tolerance and your OODA Loop processor function in stressful situations ?

i fly a 4 channel t-28 in the park.....I purposefully stayed out of 3 channel as learned from the getgo with rudder on the sim i tighten my turns with judicious rudder...maybe im doing it wrong never been up with him was directed to him from the field in our conversation i mentioned coordinated flight, shallow bank angles and rudder usage and that is when he advised me about not using or even touching the rudder with him i wanted to join at this field due to the bisecting runways but might look into the other club in tampa

Gas RC was a mistake !!!!
Trained on the sim extensively. Feel confident. Started with parkflyers. No issues. Decided to get a gas trainer, look at clubs and an instructor. Instructor tells me...no rudder.....you wont even touch the rudder when you fly with me. Most guys and instructors dont use the rudder out here. Want to buy a gas trainer and radio ? Park is where it is at for me.
