RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Your falcon is doing exactly what it is supposed to do. Remember, you are controlling the direction that the nose of the heli is pointing, not the tail. Something you need to start doing right now in the learning curve, is to concentrate on the nose and not the tail. Sure, you have to fly the tail on a falcon 40, but don't be concerned with which way it is pointing, you want to concentrate on which way the nose is pointing. After all, that is the direction that the heii will be flying. Hope this helps some. Jim

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Fishman, It will not hurt the extreme motor to reverse the wires on it. Same with the tail motor. As a matter of fact, I am flying the slo-max 300 that is no longer made, and have been for over a year, with the motor leads reversed. As to the switches on the back of the transmitter, they do not control which way the tail and main motor turn. They are for servo reversing. As you have noticed, there are some extra switches on the transmitter that do nothing. Same story with the channel reversing switches on the back. So just wire your motor so that it runs in the proper direction and go fly. Jim p.s. you also don't have to have the diode installed. Also you don't want another of those crappy oem main motors.

Norm, Don't feel dumb. That is a cp heli, so that puts you ahead of me if you hovered that. But at least I'm glad that the help we tried to give enticed you to try again and not sell. Hang in there bud, you'll get the hang of it, and then you'll really start to enjoy these things. Anything I can do for you just let me know. You can always send me a PM. Take care friend. Jim on edit, I do know that blade tracking is critical on cp helis. Something we don't have to worry about on the fp. So check that. Some of the other guys can give you better info than I can. JB

Norm, Give me an idea of what your birds are doing. You said you have two, are the troubles the same, when did they start, etc. Good luck Jim Norm, here's another idea. Since you have two falcons, and I live in North Alabama, box one of them up and send to me. I will go through it,set it up and return to you ready to fly. PM me if interested. Jim fishman, US Hobby Supply is the place when ordering parts. Good selection. good prices, and EXCELLENT customer service. Michael has the tower pro sg90 servos, $6.50 ea. and they work great in the falcon. I've had a pair for about 8 months, no problems. Jim

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Norm, I offered help, but never got a response from you. You stated that people on here didn't seem to want to share info. I assure you that this is not the case. Having said that, I offer the following. 1.Remove the blade grip (blade holder) with blades attached. 2 Inspect blade grip for the following: a. blades properly installed on grip. b. This is important, check the bottom of the grip where it snaps on the bearings. These little clips can spread, and not properly grip the bearing. This will result in an uncontrollable wobble/viberatioon. Just ask me how I know. Very frustrating and difficult to find. 3. Balance blades and blade grip as one unit. ( Make certain blades are aligned) 4. Carefully inspect rotor head core. Use a good light and magnifying glass if available. The ears that hold the bearings will break quite easily. 5. Check fly bar to make sure that it is centered.( equal distance on each side of rotor head. Don't guess, measure) 6. Again, this is important, check fly bar paddles. they should be level to very slight positive pitch (no negative pitch) when viewed from the side of the heli. They should be the same for both sides. 7. Reinstall blade grip and blades. The blade grip should snap onto the bearings and be rather tight. Make sure that both sides snap on with equal pressure. ( see 2b above) 8. Tighten blades. The falcon don't like to fly with loose blades. I tighten mine so that they will not move, but will flex on an impact. I hope this helps some. Also If you have not installed fuse mods on your birds, then do so. This will save your 4 in 1. There are some you-tube vids that show and explain proper set up and balanceing and if you want to give it another go before selling your birds, let us know, and I'll post a link here on forum. When properly balanced and set up, the falcon will have a rather stable hover. It will not however remain in one spot without continous and small inputs from the sticks. Good luck, Jim

Be safe my friend and let us know how the "gasser" is going. Also thanks for all the help you gave me and the rest of the guys when we started out. Jim

Hey Dave, Thanks for the geek. I knew what happened, I just didn't quite know why. Everything you said makes perfectly good sense. Thanks for the explanation. (But all that theory still doesn't help me keep it in the air. LOL) Like someone said before, helis don't fly, they just beat the air into submission. And believe me, mine has beat it's share of air, dirt, grass, trees and so forth. Have a great weekend guys. Jim p.s. oh, and it made a salad out of one of my bell pepper plants. But that's another story JB [X(]

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Ken, as Disney stated, this is a normal occurrence in ff. It is called transitional lift. Tends to climb in forward flight, and will loose altitude in backward flight. The only thing you can do is to reduce throttle on a fixed pitch bird to stop the altitude gain-BUT remember as you slow down back to a hover, you will begin to loose altitude so be ready to increase power again. Maybe this helps some. Jim

Danny, that should do the trick. These are great little birds for what they are. I've had mine over a year now, and it is still the only heli I own. I just like flying it. Of course you have to know its limitations (wind, etc) but when conditions are right, I love it. Jim

Way to go max on the kite flying. These things are fun, and the exercise you get is an added benefit. Especially when your 65 and a diabetic. Jim I have about 50-60 flights on my dd tail. I don't clean it. I see no reason you cant lube with silicone just make sure you lube just the ends of the shaft and don't let the lube get on the brushes. Hope this helps, Jim

Danny, Glad that did it. Theory, think about it a minute, if tail rotor is not vertical, depending on which side rotor blade is, and the direction of rotation, every time the tail rotor tries to correct, it not only pushes tail to side, but also up or down. Anyway glad that that did it. Jim

On the vertical tail bounce. It is absolutely critical that the tail motor is perfectly horizontal. Any tilt in either direction will cause the tail to bounce, especially with the dd tail motor. Check this, the tail rotor blade HAS to perfectly vertical. Fly SafeHave Fun Jim

Larry, I'm with you. Never heard of two at the same time, but I guess it's possible. I would pull top off of servos and inspect gears carefully. look at them with magnifying glass. if they jumped, then there should be evidence.(bent tooth, etc.) Let us know what you find. Also is it possible that the arms slipped? Good luck, Oh, and how do you have the 55's mounted? I had one of my sg90 pop out of the mounting tab once. Jim

akandys, Might I suggest the sg90 servos sold by Michael at www.ushobbysupply.com. He is a heli pilot, and is very knowledgeable about our hobby. Also you cannot beat his prices, his quick shipping, and his customer service is beyond reproach. I have had the sg90 in my falcon for about 8 months, and they have preformed great. Also the sg90 are $6.50 each. Also check out his complete stock of falcon parts. Most of us use Michael whenever we can. He's the best. Good luck and fly safe, Jim

Danny, my rec. will be the e-flite blade 400. very popular, and at least as much info in the forums as on the falcon. Just my opinion, I'm sure there will be others. However I think I would steer clear of any of the exceed stuff. I think they definately have a winner with the falcon, but a bunch of problems with the others. JMHO. Jim

RE: Falcon 40 (Exceed heli) Forum
Danny, You may have to "tinker" with the gyro gain a little. This is a pot located inside the little hole on the rx. This adjustment has no stop, so you can turn it completely around, so be careful. Best way to adjust,,,, unplug battery, adjust SLIGHTLY in one direction, power up fly and check out tail action, if better, try a little more in same direction and check again. If worse, then of course adjust in opposite direction and try. remember, after eah adjustment, battery has to be disconnected and then rconnected for gyro to sense changes. Hope this helps, [8|] Jim
