RE: What Brushless Truggy should I buy ??
+1 on the Losi truggy....bought my 1st one as a roller with a Tekno V3 kit and after running it a few times, I was surprised how well it ran and how tough it was. I started looking and found another used one to replace my Ofna buggy. These are 1.0 spec mind you, but theres lots out there. You should be able to find a good roller with spare parts etc for around $200.

RE: New to me truggy
Stay off the throttle when landing? Just a suggestion. There's different ways of setting your mesh but I always use the paper method. Then I hold the pinion and move the spur back and forth to ensure I have just a tiny bit of play. I dunno, seems to work for me. I will break everything else on my RC's but the spur/pinion is not one of them.

RE: play in losi 8ight t 2.0 wheel hubs
Well, I have a 8T 1.0 and have quite a bit of slop thruout the truggy. Reading thru various forums/posts, I'm finding out this is normal for the Losi truggy's whether its 1.0 or 2.0. I havent put mine on a real track yet but I've run it pretty hard on the street and a BMX track we have here in town. Out of all the RC's I currently own, this Losi hasn't let me down once. All my other ones have either snapped or broken something. The Losi just keeps going.....slop might be a good thing i'm thinkin'.
ORIGINAL: ThunderbirdJunkie Castle's pinions are usually 1mod. They don't include pinions with the 1/10 stuff, and everything with a 5mm shaft ITBJRC they supply a 15t 1mod pinion.
Well, unless they've changed, I emailed Castle about this awhile ago inquiring about the pinion they supplied with their 1/8th scale motors and they said they were .8 Mod. I dont know if it really matters as I'm not very confident in their aluminum pinions anyways....RR is all I run.
ORIGINAL: dgs4
ORIGINAL: ThunderbirdJunkie You don't want that stupid clutch Tekno has. That is the stupidest thing in the world. Just sayin'
Do I need to use a different pinion or do I use the one supplied by castle?
When i rec'd my used Losi, it was missing the Tekno clutch kit. Not sure what you're putting together here but I needed a long shank pinion as a normal pinion would not reach the center diff. Also i needed a different motor plate to run it this way.....Amain had it all and its on its way. And if Im not mistaken, the pinion Castle supplies is a Mod .8, not a Mod 1 which is probably what you need. EDIT: I see you have a Mugen buggy which would mean a V4 kit....a normal pinion should be ok in your case but not the one Castle supplies.

Uh guys, I'm pretty sure he's running 2 x 2S lipo's in series to get 4S as of now. To the OP, get 2 more 2S lipos in the 5000+ mah range with a 25-35C rating and your runtime will increase greatly. And maybe grab a matching 3S for those times you wanna get "crazy"

I run a Castle MMM ESC and 2200Kv motor in the Ofna buggy......with a 4S lipo, its fun. With a 5S lipo, its stupid fun. Just to see what it could run, I normally run a 14T but tried a 17T pinion and put the radar gun to it. 60mph was the result. I can only imagine what a 6S lipo would do....crazy. [:D]

Most RC's just come with grease anyways and that should last quite a while.....I would think an E-Maxx or anything Traxxas would just have grease in the diff's anyways.

Someone with that kind of budget that wants to start off with a hobby grade RC, I would probably recommend the Stampede 4x4 for a few dollars more. My 1st RC was the 2WD version and I had a blast with it.

I've heard that you have them for the Hyper 10TT but I dont see em listed on your website. I just finished installing them on my LX1-E and I think they would be put to good use on the truggy as the driver is only 9 yrs old.

RE: What would you recommend?
Is that $500 budget include batteries/charger as well? Me personally, knowing what I know now, I would seriously consider the HPI Vorza Flux (RTR) but that may be out of reach considering the $580 price tag. Next would be a Kyosho Inferno VE (also RTR) and with a price tag of $399, its well within your means. If you want to drop down to 1/10th scale, the Hyper 10TT is another to consider for a cost of $199.00 Pick up a ESC/motor, servo and Tx/Rx and you should be able to be around the $500 mark. I have one of those on the way from NitroHouse, they look like a blast.

It was a custom made one from a friend with a CNC machine.....full bearings, airplane landing wheels . No its not adjustable, it just bolts onto the back with a supplied plate. Very sturdy and obviously gets removed when we hit the dirt. All together, it was around $75. Not cheap but then again, this hobby aint cheap.[;)]
ORIGINAL: SyCo_VeNoM I am also contemplating removing the wheelie bar seeing it doesn't work that good from my runs. IMO it needs to stick farther out in back to actually catch the truck before it has the inertia, and ends up on its lid.
Yep, you need something similar to this. RE: buggie pics!!!!!
ORIGINAL: INTEGRA Comparing a LX-1 to a Full blown Race buggy like the H9 is a No no.....the LX-1 has been around for a LONG time with Very little changes. Its an entry level Rc At best where as the Hyper is a True competition race buggy.
Who's comparing? I know the Hyper 9E is definitely a step up. The LX1-E is maybe one of the entry level 4WD buggies, but far from an entry level RC. $200 for the kit, $300 for the ESC/motor, $100 for a digital metal gear servo and $100 for a 2.4Ghz tx/rx.....not to mention spare parts, batteries, wheels/tires, there's $1000. I cant see that being an entry level RC. And I've added numerous upgrades........Hyper 9 shocks, CNC parts like steering knuckles, rear arm holder, shock towers and braces, it handles, tracks and bashes pretty awesome. But I know theres better designs out there.....and if a track should come about (there's talk), I may have to upgrade. But for now, its doing just fine.
ORIGINAL: meef rustler Is that a good buggy?
Not sure if you're referring to mine but if so, yes its a good buggy.......after replacing the necessary parts with CNC /upgraded ones. Hubs, shocks, aluminum pieces, lots of $$ spent to get into a worthy basher. It should be a good racer if I get the chance and set the alignment/suspension correctly. But I'm still contemplating a Hyper 9E which would be a nice upgrade for me.
