RE: twin 25s onto a Ultra Sport 40
I have UltraSport 40 as a twin. Two 30 Magnums 4-strks produce enough power for simple pattern. You can find two photos and two videos on link [link=http://rc-twin.ru/ult.php]UltraSport40twin[/link]. Two 25's 2-strks is a good choice for this model.

RE: 4-engine model in fly
Hi Dope Each engine was turned and warmed in pit aria. Therefore start one engine takes 15-20 sec, no more 1-2 minutes on start position to start 4 engines.

RE: Four engine model
Thanks Bob. Usually it takes around one month from USA to Russia. I have one more fly on 4x4. 6 minutes in the air. I did not have any strength to have one more fly. [:D]

RE: Four engine model
Thanks Bob. I through look your message some time and understand clearly how and why you turn engines such way. My two central Magnums have enough high idle yet. Now I don't know how my multy will land on four engines. My first landing was with out one engine.

RE: Four engine model
Hi Bob, I did not try to turn engine into unison. Each engine was turned to its own optimum. For throttle I use 4 separate servos in one channel. Now I have one fly only and I don't have full opinion about fly ability of the model. Than I flow it seems that its slowly flying model but it seems too speedy on video.[:D] I have 9x6 props now but I thinking to try 9x7 after convenient with the model. Now the thrust is a little bigger as weight model but two central engines aren't broken fully yet. Thank for the magazines. I studied English reading such magazine. I was a seaman and bought such magazines in Canada. [;)]

RE: Four engine model
Hay Bob. Nice looking plane. My one weights 4800 grams - a few heavy as your one. Engines are Magnum 30 four strokes. Mine is combined old F3A plane, 60 size(modified fus and fin+rudder) and GP Extra 60 (wing -enlarged span on one section, each side). I had to spend last Sunday to setup engines and engine's servos. There were a lot of spectacular on maiden fly.

RE: Building a Twin engine Ultrasport 60
A couple years ago I scratch built the US40 twin. I had two Magnum 30 4-strks on it. If I were you I: 1.Enlarge the fin and rudder 50% at least. 2.to keep weight I build tail dragger and don’t install heavy farewall. 3.Two 25 fx – it is the good for US40 – for US60 I think two 35-40 2strks will be good choice.

RE: OS .55 problem every flight
ORIGINAL: peregrine On the ground it's perfect and I can't replicate the problem. In flight it lasts for about 2 minutes, very consistently, then dies over a few seconds.
Try to inspect fuel tank. May be clunk storage in up position or line inside the tank has crack.

RE: Ultra Sport 1000 Twin Build Project
Hi P-Diddy! Unfortunately I don’t have any building photos. The nacelles were built as square part of fus and were glued between nervures. The clearance between fus and prop 6 mm. You can light the model if you don’t install firewall in front of fus. You are going to make tail dragger and you don’t need such a solid nose. Mine has a very light nose. It’s made from light balsa only. To change balance the model I can move akku from the tail wing edge to the nose.

RE: Four engine model
Terror Dactyl My two engine have different compression. One of them has better compression as other one. The engine with better compression is speedy on max and idle RPM as well. But when both engine run it was seemed that they start to work sync. I’ll check this with tachometer next time, may be tomorrow if weather permit. Around me nobody flies multi. May be somebody has scale model in Moscow.

RE: Four engine model
Multimaniac Thanks for information. My twin has all your wrote except thrust of engines and foil. They were installed 0-0 and the wing has original symmetrical foil. I can’t tell that it’s overpowered compare to single one. I know a lot of Switzerland’s are multi languages. Some years ago I spoke to Francua in Neon on English. At the same time he spoke to staff in the office in French and by telephone in German. Paul Thanks. It’s very useful information. I also made breaking procedure on stand. Each engine had at least 2 hours working time.

RE: Four engine model
William Robison Why not in future. Single – twin – 4- 8 – 16 …… Who knows? On Russian we say one – two – a lot of. On modeler’s language it sound as single – twin – multi. Real multi starts from 3 engines. Twin is not multi engine model. Multimaniac I tried your link but I don’t understand German. I’m thinking about sport model no scale one. May be in future I’ll be build Pe-8. The effect from flowing air over wing from engines I noted on twin. I understand that on four engine model this effect will be bigger. ps2727 Can you write the specification of your model? Wing span, weight ets. 25 fp is close to 30 4 stroke. Thanks

RE: Four engine model
Hi! I see I am not along wishing 4 engine model. I am thinking to use four Magnum 30 4 stroke. I have two ones now. My modest experience with bashing pattern ship into twin says that sum of displacement of engines should be the same as single one. I can compare twin US40 with two 30 4 stroke with single US40 with one 70 4 stroke in front. The models have the almost same weight(plus-minus 50 grams) . The single has a little bit more thrust as twin. The twin descents sharply as single due more drag. The single is speedy on touch down. The bigger engines adds weight only and flying speed. I guess that multi have to fly with running all engines and when one engine quits its time to landing. I am going to use draft f3a model for 120 4 stroke as base. It has span 1.8 meters (near 6 feet). The model will be taidrager for keep weight down. I did not meet any problem with taidrager twin on take off. I did not try to synchronize engines. Each engine was turn individually for best performance. Now I do not see any problem with 4 engine model compare to twin from my few experience BUT I do not have enough twin and any 4 engine experience.

Four engine model
I have a few experiences building and flying my first twin http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_3862333/tm.htm. I red this forum a lot of before start to build the first twin. Also I found a lot of useful information about flying twin models. Now I’m thinking over a next project. May be it will be four engine model. What kind difficulties I shall meet during building and flying such model? Nobody fly’s multi here. My model is only one. I can ask help only here. Thanks.

RE: Ultrasport40 - twin
This Sunday I had a lot of fun flying this twin. The left engine quieted in the air one time. I noticed this situation than I could not turn to the right. Model went away from me. I reduced throttle to idle on remained engine and made landing as dead stick one. My friend made some photo with Pentax DSLR. I hope it will be interesting. Take off.

RE: Ultrasport40 - twin
Thanks a lot for your post. I made such modification than I scratch built the plane. The fin and rudder were increased near 50%. The fin, rudder, stab and elevator were made from strips. Fus was built with out plywood almost. It has plywood around wing sable only. The fus was built with out solid pieces of balsa wood. ¼ balsa its the thickest balsa on fus. The wing was built according draft. I added nacelles only and installed two aileron's servos. The ailerons have building structure. To keep point of balance the elevator and rudder servos were moved to the tail. In result the weight of twin is the same as kit building US40 with OS70 in front.

RE: Ultrasport40 - twin
This weekend I had three flies on this plane. The sound was very impressive. On last approach the right engine quitted when I had tried to apply some throttle from idle. The plane started to turn to the right slowly. The throttle was brought to idle and plane landed safety. Here some photos were made before the first take off.

RE: Bad Vibrations Ultra Stick 60
I had almost the same problem with Ultra Sport 40 and OS 70 in front. It looked as flatter on tail in midrange throttle but it was on the ground without moving the plane. The problem was gone after installing soft engine mount from Du-Bro. The reason such vibration is resonance part of plane with vibration from the engine.

RE: Ultra Sport40( elevator's resonance)
I tried two props 11x9 and 12x8 with out any changes. I work with throttle a lot. Engine pasts through this setting very often. The 4 CA hinges from 6 on elevator were broken. I replaced they for Do-Bro hinges. I am afraid that this resonance can destroy or elevator or hinges or elevator or clevis. I want to avoid this unwanted vibration completely.
