RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Alright well it looks like my truck is working! I did one full turn on the HSN and opened the carb a little more and it runs really well now. I still have that extra opening in the carb that worries me still but other than that, the truck runs very smoothly.

RE: -=OFFICIAL HPI FIRESTORM THREAD=-
Thanks! That did the trick! But im having more problems. Looking into the carb, i see two holes. One located at the top left where there normally should be one, but theres also another gap located at the bottom right of the carb when looking inside. My truck has had the most difficult time starting and i dont know if its because of this extra hole in the carb. My truck has been running poorly it seems. When starting my truck, it dies about 4 times before its actually up and runnning. At that time the throttle seems very inconsistent and not that responsive. Its almost as if it doesnt want to reach top speed. Dont know if this has anything to do with that extra hole in the carb. Also, on my radio, the throttle trim has to be all the way up for the truck to run pretty much. That doesnt seem right either. Please help!
ORIGINAL: Fuel Crazy yep if the batteries are good... eliminate the switch to see if it still powers up. The switches that come in these things are cheap. I dont use switches in mine period, just plug the battery pack straight into the reciever when i go to run.
Im sorry guys but im not that happy with the firestorm. Mine in particular has had numerous problems since day one. My LHS has proven themselves worthless as well. Im thinking i just might have a faulty firestorm. Every time i look into the carb something just doesnt look right. Not only do have a small opening where it should be inside the carb (1mm or 2mm?), i also have another hole thats located beneath it (hard to explain) Figured it was a slipped idle screw which it was for awhile. Anyways, with the amount of problems ive had since the unboxing, i figured i just got a hold of a bad one. Any idea what hpi's warranty is like? I would like another one seeing as everyone very much enjoys theres!

I broke my front suspension arm about a month ago and have been searching for parts for this particular model. Do yall know of any good websites to find these parts? Also, i was wondering if i could use parts from other similar models to the firestorm. Im still very new to this hobby. Thanks!

Still having problems with my Firestorm.. I managed to get it started, then broke my engine in. Drove it around and noticed the brakes hardly worked. Adjusted the brakes along with the idle (to keep the truck still and not roll away). Thus the problems began. It didnt want to start anymore. Well, it would start then die. Found out my idle screw slipped so i fixed that i think. Now it starts, drove it around THEN dies. Looked inside carburetor to check if there was enough opening (1mm?) still doesnt want to stay on. Whats odd is that on my remote the throttle trim is all the way down. If i move to the neutral position on the remote, the truck dies. I have no idea what is wrong. A lot of gas is being shot out of the exhaust (too rich?) but it seems like theres not enough gas pumping through the engine. I dont know if i should mess with the hsn or the lsn as my engine is still fairly new. Meaning i havent really driven it around much, just idling for however long it want to stay on. Please Help!

Sweet! Got it running. Did the first step of the breaking in process. Went through a tank pretty quickly as it just sat there. Seemed a bit too quick but i have no clue as im completley new to this. Also, right before it ran out of gas the truck sped up to full throttle right before running out. Is that normal?

Okay so i got it running but only when i was pulling down on the trigger on the remote half way. As soon as i released, the truck died. Then messed around with the servo throttle arm thinking it had something to do with that. Again it worked but, it would die as soon as i lowered the speed. Any idea what could be wrong?

Im having problems satrting my truck. Glow plug is good. Glow pluge igniter is good. Gas is getting to the engine. The engine just doesnt seem like it wants to turn over. I pull so much but am scared im going to ruin the pullstarter. The back wheels start to spin for a second then stop. I constantly check to see if i flooded my engine so i know its not that. Do I need to adjust the idle? If so, how much and in what direction to i turn the idle screw

As my stock adapter I have two prongs. But i didnt want the standard battery pack that comes with the firestorm. So i upgraded to a chargeable battery with three prongs and two prongs in it thus purchasing a charger with three prongs to charge correctly. The guys at the hobby shop just gave me the chargeable battery pack along with the charger that goes with it. They didnt mention any adaptors other than the adaptor for my charger. Oh and is it possible to have a faulty glow plug on arrrival? My car doesnt seem to want to start. Ive flooded the engine a couple of times but took care of that. Seems to me it might be the glow stick or the glow plug. But both are fairly new. Thanks in advance!

Hello all! i just recieved my firestorm! ive done a couple of mods such as fuel filter and heat shielding. i upgraded the best lipoly battery and charger site battery pack (1600) and had to purchase a switch harness so that it may plug in correctly. But this is where im having problems. The stock switch with the chord doesnt want to come out. There are two clamps that hold part of the chord underneath the transmission that are very hard to reach. Ive triend making a hook out of a paperclip to try and pull it out but still no luck. Im brand new to this and rather not remove the engine to reach the problem. Is there an easier way to get this done? Thanks!

RE: Some of the best
Hey! You made it! I was beginning to worry. You're 7 pages late!
ORIGINAL: David Gladwin Now we seem to be getting back to having a serious debate about a serious issue, the question of rules has been /is being raised may I say something as seen through the eyes of a professional pilot ? It would seem to me that THE most fundamental rule of any aviation (and I have flown and instructed on many types from sailplanes, still do, to heavy jets, professionally for almost 40 years ) a pilot must NEVER, EVER, put his aircraft into a situation where there is NO room for even the tiniest error, regardless of how skilled the pilot may be. Airmanship rule no 1 ! Deliberately flying THAT close to the ground, in what I am told, I was not there, was a strongish crosswind, seems to have been just a situation. There is a very good saying : '' The superior pilot uses his superior judgement to avoid situations which might require the use of his superior skill.'' I also hear that there was another incident which COULD have been very serious last weekend I understand that a jet crashed at the LMA meeting last week, causing a fire which caused the closure of the M11 due to the smoke, ( a major UK motorway) resulting in 6 mile tailbacks. We ALL have a collective responsibility to protect our hobby, we just don't need incidents such as these, if we are to continue, as we are almost without regulation. Now, please discuss in a sensible, mature and objective manner. Regards, David Gladwin.
I do believe that the global financial crisis is the main reason for this. RE: JWM in Israel
Right on!!!
ORIGINAL: Gordon Mc
ORIGINAL: john agnew I have never felt that Israel was the correct location for this event, simply because it meant the almost automatic exclusion of the Arab nations which I believe to be against the spirit of open competition. In my view the poor entry at this event vindicates my stance.
My memory may be imperfect on this issue, in which case I appologise in advance for any inaccuracies, but ... wasn't there another country originally slated to hold this year's event, but then they baled for some reason ? If so well, perfect location or not, at least the Israelis did actually stick with their commitment to host the event. Maybe I'm missing something here, but since no other country had apparently even bothered to put in a formal request to host the event, it seems just a tad wrong for any of us from those "we don't want to bother with the hassle of hosting the event" countries to then complain about the only one country that did actually step up to do so. YMMV, which is fine. Gordon
RE: Powerbox RRS Question
Hi, I mean it does measure the strength of the signal it receives. It can be valid but weaker. On the display are the signal strength in % for each receiver. If one receiver is 100% and the one it is using drops to 95%, it will switch to the 100% one. If you have a power failure on a receiver you would get 0% signal so it would switch to the other receiver. Putting it simply, If both are working fine but one has a weaker signal than the other for whatever reason, it switches to the stronger signal. In a failsafe condition, the receiver is still able to send a failsafe signal. With the RRS, you set a spare channel to do this. The receiver goes to FS and the channel you selected for FS switches over and this is the FS signal the RRS detects and will automatically switch to the other receiver. Does this answer your question?

RE: Powerbox RRS Question
Hello, I have the RRS and believe it works as follows: It monitors both signals from both receivers. When all is well, it randomly selects one reciever's signals. As soon as reception on one receiver drops from 100% or if it goes to FS then it switches immediately to the other receiver. So to answer your question, yes there is logic in monitoring the signals. Hope this helps (if I understood correctly myself when I purchased it).
