Dx6i 6th Channel Programming
Hi I was wondering if I could program the 6th channel on my Dx6i to a switch on the radio. One of the extra channels is the gear, and that works with a switch but the other channel is AUX. It is used for gyro gain in helis, ECT. But I can't figure out how to program it to be operated by a switch on the radio. Any ideas? Thanks, Zane

Would this work? (Electronics questions)
Hello I have had my Helimax heli for a while (a Novus CP nano). It is fun, but I don't like the transmitter. It has been unreliable, and is heavy. It also has no adjustable settings other than trim. I was wondering if I could take the transmitting module out of the Helimax transmitter and put it into a spektrum transmitter, or would it be more complicated than that? If that would work, then could I just plug the Helimax module into the trainer port on the spektrum radio when I wanted it? Thanks, Zane

RE: Need help programming flaperons on Dx6i, just won't work
I have it set up this way: there is one airleron on each wing, each aileron has its own servo. each servo is plugged into the two aileron channels on the rx, so no, they are not on a y harness
ORIGINAL: mighty9 Flaperons are for a single aileron per wing that you want to use as flaps to.To get the flaps to mix you will have to go set up a a flap to aileron mix. Im not sure the 6 has a trim function for the mixes though. And if you have a Y extension there is no way to do this. You must have a separate channel for each servo.Do you have 4 servos 2 in each wing?
Need help programming flaperons on Dx6i, just won't work
HelloI have a Radian, with flaps that have one servo each. There is a flap on each wing. I just got a Dx6i today, and I got it all programmed as per the manual for flaperons. So the servos are plugged into the two aileron ports, the Dualairleron servo thing is on, and the flaps work just fine, moving together when the flap switch is triggered. But when I move the aileron stick on my transmitter, the two flaps still move in unison, as if they were flaps. I just can't figure out how to make them move oppositely when in aileron mode. I have tried reversing flaps and ailerons, to no avail. Does anyone know what I am missing? Thanks, Zane

I had a transmitter problem with Helimax, and they fixed it for free, because they said that they have a deffect warranty for up to a year, so if they decide that the damage wasn't caused by you they might fix it for free. It might be worth a try sending them an email

Need some help from an electronics Guru
Hello I was wondering if there was a way to bypass the reciever in the all in one electronics unit in the Novus CP nano helicopter. I know that in RC cars with such all in one electronics units, lets use a Losi 1/24 scale for an example, the reciever is on the same curcuit board as the other electronics, but it is separate from the speed control. I was wondering if this was the case with the Helimax all in one unit. If this is the case, would there be a way to bypass the reciever and wire in another one? I know where I can get a 38mg spektrum RX, and I want to install on the in the Helicopter. Does anyone know if there is a way to bypass the RX? I talked to Helimax support and they said to post it on here because they don't know enough about their own helicopter to tell me wether this would be possible. Thanks, Zane

Today I got out to lake Chachuma to run my boat in a lake and see how fast it could go. Well it is a reservoir, so of couse they said no. So then we went to the Santa Ynez rive and found a place big enough to run the boat. It worked pretty well, and was so fast. I still need to fine tune my weight balance so it doesn't porpoise. In the video I get to about 3/4 throttle. Before the video started I went to full throttle I porpoised out of control and flipped. So i am not trying that again till I fix the weight balance. So last evening I went to our friends pool to try it out. Of course I couldn't get up to anywhere near full speed, but I ran through most of a battery pack, and I think it went well. There is still one place where a few drips of water can come in, but I will fix that. Hopefully in the next few days I can get to a bigger lake to really try it out. And my I really like the realistic sounds the stinger drive made, because the prop sucked in some air. The sound is muted in the video because of all the background noise. So today I got all of the rest of the parts for the boat in the mail. A few days ago I also finished epxoying the inside of the hull. I do this to add strength, and seal the wood incase the boat ends up sinking at some point. I also went to the hardware store and got the varnish and seal for the outside of the hull. All I need to do now is finish up the hull and install the electronics and drivetrain. There isn't much else to say. Here are some pictures: All done with the epoxy. RE: Flat pan aluminum chassis micro SCT
Today I finished up the aluminum chassis I have been making for my micro SCT. I had it almost finished a few weeks ago, but I had problems with the gear mesh, and I didn't get around to fixing them until now. I was occupied with building the boat. I also added some sticky velcro to hold the battery on. The gear mesh problem was that I had drilled the motor mount holes a tad bit to far forward, and that caused the spur gear teeth the hit the flat part at the base of the pinion, where the set screw would be on a larger scale pinion. I managed to get it driving around, but it put a huge strain on the motor mount and the gear mesh was so tight that the battery lasted 1/3 of usual time and the motor smelled bad. So this time I managed to get that problem fixed. Instead of making new motor mount holes, which would have required making a whole new chassis. I couldn't just swap the motor side with the battery side because the center driveshaft it offset. The motor is lighter than the battery, so it has to be farther offset from the center to achieve a perfect left right weight balance. So it would have leaned heavily had I swapped the battery and motor. So what I did was take off the pinion and cut off the flat part, as it has no set screw (it is a friction fit). That way the pinion gear can move closer to the motor. Then I can get a good gear mesh without redoing the motor mounting area. I took it for a test drive around the house. It cornered beautifully, and it seemed to work well. On the first run the steering block fell off the chassis, but I re glued it and it seems to be holding. Here are some videos and pictures. Today I did some drilling sanding and gluing. I drilled some holes in the flat pieces of wood so the inside of the boat was all one air compartment. Then I sanded the burs off, made a spacing jig and started gluing the frame. While I am writing this the glue on the last bulkhead is drying. If some water where to sneak into the front somehow, like a leaky glue joint, I could never get it back out if it was sealed in.

I did some cutting, and I have the frame almost all cut out. Now I just need to hollow out the centers of the bulkheads to reduce weight, do some sanding, build a jig and then I can glue it! Right now it all fits together perfectly, but it has some splinters. I am just finishing up cutting the pieces of wood for the main frame. I also made a stand for the boat. It is a simple 3 piece stand with a lip around the bottom so that it can be a parts tray. It fits the cardboard version well. Now all I need to do is add padding to the v shape that holds the boat so that it doesn't scratch the wooden version.
