RE: FEJ 1/5,5 F-16 build thread
ORIGINAL: rbxbear44 Just received my FEJ 1/5.5 F-16 from my good friend ''WhoDaMan'' in CA. It's very nice...a ''Pig'' but really nice. FEJ does a great job with the main construction and paint (Artic Aggressor Scheme''). This has P-200 written all over it!!! Heavy airframe but I would expect it on a bird of this size. I am working with Dan Gill at Details4Scale to get the same options offered for the SM f-16. I'll be sending the back fuse half to him so he can work on the Speed Brakes, Lighting system and chute system. I want him to work on the ''Turkey Feathers'' for this size as he has been on the 1/6 too. Also, I have sent the gear to John at Matrix for a after market fitted gear. Don't know how long but I will try and have this bird ready for FL Jets, Lord willing!!!! In the meantime, will be working on various parts till I get the rest of the plane back. Good job FEJ!!!! Rex
Hi Rex Keep us posted on any upgrade you have. I already bought the lighting system from Dan Gil and installing it now. the chute and speed brake will be great addons. the turkey feather will be a dream for this plane. I have mine desert camo scheme No. 107 plane and it looks great. waiting for my gear to arrive after upgrade at the factory. Thanks, Zivo

RE: FEJ 1/5,5 F-16 build thread
Hi guys, few weeks ago, I visited the squadron who has the famous 107 F-16, which according to it FEJ has painted their camo scheme - it is the Israeli desert camo scheme, squadron 116, plane no. 107. Needless to say, I ordered this scheme and I have it in my home. I decided to visit the real plane and take pictures for documentation, for the build. Here are few of them which I can release. Build starts this week. I already have all I need, and the P200SX just landed in my home as well. Gonna post pics as I go along. Cheers, Zivo Israel

Hi Todd, Got some valuable info there but still cannot figure this out: should I invert the plumbing? What do you think I should do to make sure that brake is active when gear is down? Right now it still works the opposite (gear up. brake active) Thanks, Zivo

RE: Advice required mixing brakes on 12X
Hi Guys, I have an issue programming the 12X for brake in my jet: I am using the EV-5U as well. Aux6 is for the brake , and for now I use the right knob for brake , just for testing purposes. My goal is to have the brake functional when pushing down on the elev. stick, when gear is out only. The thing is, I can only operate the brake function while the gear is in! For some reason when the retracts are out - no brake, when they are in - yes brake. I tried to reverse the gear, or the brake - still they always work opposite. I even connected a regular servo to the RX Aux6 instead of the EV5U cable - and still the same, so I guess it is a radio issue and not the EV5U issue. Cna you guys help? Thanks, Zivo

EQ10 and 2S lipos
Hi Bob, I intend to use the following setup on a large jet: EQ10 2 X 2S lipo 4000mah each from lightning power all servos around are hitec 7950TH that support 7.4v my question: is this setup 7.4 OK for the EQ10? will it run the 7.4v to the servos? Also, the RX receives regulated 5.2V? Thanks, Zivo

Hi Guys I would like to replace the gear doors air cylinders to the BVM type. I measured the main ones and they are 44mm stroke that is 1.75" stroke. BVM only has 1", 1 5\16" and 2 3\8 size ones. What do you think I should do with the mains to adapt it? The front one is exactly 1 5\16 so it is not a problem. Any thought is apreciated. Zivo

RE: JWM in Israel
ORIGINAL: -JC- Hi Zivo, I really don't think that there were many political reasons for the low attendance this year. It was more a combination of factors that led to the lack of attendance. From the US pilots perspective, here are the main reasons for not going: 1: Pilots who build their own models feels that the JWM lost relevance when the "builder of the model" rule was removed. Why bother going when you compete against "The best models money can buy" instead of competing on equal terms with actual builders. Solution: Hopefully the IJMC will make rule changes for 2011 and reinstate a builders class. Othervise the contest is just an aerobatic contest with scale jets. 2: Americans work more hours than most. A typical vacation time for us is two weeks, where Europeans typically have 5 weeks +. So, the event is way too drawn out. Most have families, and having to tell the family that the entire years vacation will be spent with dad flying model airplanes is just not an option for most. Having only one plane in the air at a time is way to slow moving, and pilots only get to fly a few times over all those days. Plus, it's boring for spectators and helpers to look at. Solution: The IJMC should learn from the Top Gun, the biggest and best scale contest anywhere. Frank Tiano's event is 4 days, with even more pilots than the JWM has ever had. At a minimum, switch to two flight lines and cut the competition time in half. This would lower the cost for everyone and make it possible for most to attend if only a week is needed. The above were to two primary reasons for not being able to produce a full team, and has nothing to do with it being Israel or any other country. Other reasons include: - Weak world economy combined with the fact that the competition area only had extremely expensive hotels available. Approximately $4000 per person for air fare and hotels for 2 weeks. A similar visit to US from Europe with hotel would cost roughly half that. - The fact that political/religious motives made Israel impossible to visit for Arab countries. The JWM should only be held in countries where all interested competitors can travel freely. - The fact that at the time of the registration deadline, the war in Israel had flared up which made the final two US pilots pull out (Justin Sands and I) A good friend of mine was blown to bits by a suicide bomber, and as you know, there has been a lot of those attacks in Israel over the years, so we did not feel it was worth the risk to travel to Israel. Hopefully 2011 will bring back a full field of pilots. But to do so, I think there has to be rules that puts team or factory built models in their own class, a more compact schedule and options for less expensive hotels in the competition area. And off course, the above is my personal opinion. Good luck to the pilots who are competing. It sure looks like the Israeli organizers did a great job.
Hi John, 1. I agree 2. I TOTALY agree! the event is much too stretched out. should be 3 days max! but that was the ijmc agenda. I hope this could be brought to voting and the next events will be shorter. Regarding the political issue - No country can be excluded from the list of possible hosting the comp. on that basis. Israel is a safe environment and I wish you can see and feel for yourself, rather than get the wrong impression from CNN or other biased network. The dead sea resort is one of the most atractive and tourist friendly site on the face of the planet, far away from any area of conflict. I know that from your side one can get the wrong impression about what is going on here, and this competition is one of our ways to tell otherwise. In the meantime, we will do our best to provide you some great pics and vids for this huge (small..) event and have a great day. more pics and vids coming tomorrow. Zivo

RE: JWM in Israel
More affordable only for 6 US guys... there is not much financial diference going overseas to Ireland, Hungary or Israel. The only diference is political, and this competition should be beyond these issues. At least we hoped it would be. Zivo

RE: JWM in Israel
Hey Guys, We are Guns & Roses at the holy land... remember that it is not about guns, but the people holding them. they are all responsible, well trained personnel, all in duty. As for the event - indeed we wish they were more competitors, but the organizers estimated this, and beside arab countries who chose not to be here due to political issue (and too bad, this could have been the begining of something..) I do believe that the global financial crisis is the main reason for this. A pilot will think twise before spending 4-5K for this trip to the competition and would rather keep this money for his next plane or so. I know I would... RE: Ever Wondered what the Inside of a Fly Eagle Jets F-18 Wing looks like?
ORIGINAL: AndyAndrews Well, based on all of the posts it appears that the FEJ wing is constructed fine and may even be (cough) better than some. It certainly feels rigid and the fact remains that these wings virtually survived a head on collision with a pine tree and they didn't break. The solid carbon rods broke off in the wings. This has been a good wing lesson for me. Andy
Hi Andy, Your response is honorable. I have learned few things here too. I have good confidence in FEJ, that they are closely monitoring this thread and taking notes. Just have a look in their website - coming soon F100, F-4 (1\7!!!), Mig-29, F-86... unbelievable rate. I think it will be less than 6K though... I am just building the F16 1:5.5 from FEJ, and loving it. Best, Ziv

This is truly an incident that must be seriously inspected: 2 independant plane systems, with 1 thing in common - the TX, probably the same electronics inside.
