ORIGINAL: Goinstraightup Very impressive Marcus. Your power selections for your Magics are wise. I see too many people overpower. You've kept it light which is key.
Thanks for the compliments....learnt at that time, the key to 3D was 'wingloading'. I really miss flying the Magic3D....hhhmmmm... now this has got me thinking to get the new one up with the same specs as above! [:)][:)] regards

RE: Modeltech Magic questions
ORIGINAL: JohnMcGowan Hey guys, I am starting on a Magic ( the original version) and am going to power it with a TT46 Pro with a mousse-can setup. This is what engine I have to use, so is this a good choice? Anything I need to know as far as assembly? I would really like to use nylon screws to mount the wing, instead of the recommended rubberbands,.. anyone done this? Also, can I get away with using standard servos on all the surfaces? Any other tip/tricks would be welcomed. Thanks in advance!! John
Hi...I have been flying for 11 years...on my 3rd Magic, still new, deciding if I should electrifly it. My first 2 magics were worn out, gave them both away. My setup. Engine : OS40FP + mcp (home made) Prop APC 11x4 Servo: JR BB standards all around. AUW : 3.7 lbs CG: 5.5" Throw: Max deflection with expo (adjust to suit yourself) Some mods were, 1. Cut off the servo tray, moved the throttle servo forward 2. Smaller fuel tank (6oz) located at the cg, found a tank that fitted nicely in the center bulkhead. 3. Batt / Rx installed just behind firewall 4. Engine was tilted so that mcp was inbetween the landing gear. 5. Operated on the wings to make it boltable, just 1 bolt at the rear and a CF tube as dowel infront. Learnt to hover, harrier, rolling circles with this plane...its a VERY good machine, u need to get used to it. I loved it so much I scratch built a bigger one http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_584250/anchors_584250/mpage_1/key_mygic/anchor/tm.htm#584250 Im sure u'll enjoy it. regards

RE: MalayAsian Hangar
GC, Aiyo...flying plane is easier than helis.....try it first! Just to let u know, I learnt to fly on my own 11 years ago. I was in Kota Bharu at that time, so I purchased the CSM simulator and a 20 size trainer. With the help of the sim I was able to teach myself to fly...both plane and heli. Learning on your own is NOT easy and I dont recommend it unless u have to, especially learning with glow engines as u need to 'set the needles'. There was this senior flyer there (mode 2) who helped me to set my engine. To make a long story short, I took off and crashed 4 times (repair, takeoff, crash, repiar.............) before I could take off properly and surprisingly my landing was ok, albeit a little (quite) far from the 'runway'. With electrics nowaday, u can learn on your own, the guys at the polo club are ever willing to teach, so DITCH your fear into the longkang in Kluang (hehe it rhymes) before driving over to JB for your flight lessons. Keep us updated on your progress...and SG is RC shopping heavan! If you have any technical questions, search RCU/RCG/MRC (local experience) or google it! you'll learn a lot. Untill then....shut up and fly![:D][:D][:D] regards
