RE: Tiger Day in the UK
I'm very envious, going to the museum sometime in September, there my be another Tiger day then I think. AFV, that breakfast is the one to have, sets you up for the day, just makes you the western worlds leading contender for a thrombosis! If you're renting a car guys, factor in the gas costs, its round about $10 a gallon here now!

RE: Awesome Hobbies update..
The thing he obviously forgets is that its "forum rats" like us who do the purchasing and with the known good sellers you mention, if he doesn't step uip to the plate, he's gonna go to the wall. Its not a huge hobby in the greater scheme of things and most information/gossip, call it what you will, gets known, either by word of mouth or on forums such as this. I'm sure the good sellers who serve us well have had an increase in thier sales with people extolling the virtues of thier services. It can work the other way too.

Dunno if its the same guy but in issue number 60 of AFV Modeller (check AFVmodeller.com for back copies) a guy called Bruno Carsuzaa converted a Hooben T55 into an Enigma, full build piccies are in there with a fair amout of scratch building, looked bloody awesome tbh.

All the way from the rainy UK, I certainly would be interested mate. I have an initial tiger with side bins, I'm working on a mid range tiger and a late version was next on my list with accurate mods so just let me know if you would consider posting to the UK and the cost. Abo.

I'm on the process of building/painting one right now in DAK colours. I would love to aquire another one to build an end of war ambulance but they're as rare as rocking horse doo. Makes a change to armour. The softback book "VW Beetle at war" was a huge help.

RE: Hooben 1:16 Elefant pre-odre
kubel-head, just my attempt at sarcasm as Hooben are notorious for putting off delivery dates. kclank, spot on, if its anything like the T55 it'll have metal gearboxes, elevation and recoil units fitted, no turret rotation for obvious reasons. I'm told the put off date (again) is due to quality issues with the wheels, still JuneISH. Just have to get my order in for the metal tracks then!

RE: Scissor Periscope
Don, try http://afvmodeller.com , click on shop, then click on AFV resin accessories. They are ALL items for the Trumpeter KT but there are a set of scissor scopes about half way down, may be of some use. They're a little expensive as they come with other bits so I don't know how badly you require them!

Regarding Hooben, the elefant is due out in the next couple of months, I have my name down for one and didn't I see photographs a while back from Hooben of thier Maus and E100 projects? Take your pick out of those three offerings. Wish I knew about the rest, sorry.

RE: Bergepanzers
We're here to build armour not destroy people's characters, we should get on with it. Jim, as one of our friends has said, buy yourself a panzer III and try a conversion of a Berge. Here are a couple of shots of mine, probably NOT historically correct but who cares, I don't. I enjoyed building it and I still get pleasure from it now, THATS the important thing, and, more importantly, no one was killed or injured in the making of it.

RE: Bergepanzers
All I hope is that someone hasn't destroyed the awe and respect a 14 year old has of a grandparent who just may have embellished his wartime exploits just to prove a point. OMG! what is the world coming to? A 14 year old lying about his age to obtain porn for a youtube account!!! We MUST inform the village elders. At that age I nearly went blind....several times.

RE: Bergepanzers
Spot on Woz, well said. The young lad came on here to show his pride and joy off to a new bunch of people and what happened? His beloved model was subjected, if not to ridicule, well it was pretty close. Remember the excitement and pride when we complete a project and want to show it off on here, even the old farts amongst us? Perhaps with life experience we can take critcism a little better than the lad. He is out of order, with some of his comments being over the top I agree but if you corner a dog it comes out snarling. Respect is deserved on here, a lot of guys have served thier countries and have a vast knowledge of this subject. I'm an in the middle guy, I know more than some and a fair few know a LOT more than me and I'm willing to listen but I won't be spoken down to by ANYONE! Perhaps the kid feels the same way, with inexperience he reacted as he did. If he does it again we can all gang up, go round to his house and pummel the snot out of him, THAT'LL teach him! ( before you set youtube on fire, jim, it was a joke) Jim, sorry to sound like your dad but you should take those offending comments off they WERE out of order mate.
