RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
!!!!Take the time for pre flight checks!!!!! This is what happend to me, I was flying last week, threw it in Idle up, and started flying pretty hard, I was practicing rolls, and loops, after about my 4th roll, I came down around 20' and the heli made a loud pop noise! I knew this was not good, I was right, it went into a half spin and stopped, the motor bogged about 1/2 speed, remember Im in Idle up, I tried to lower the stick to bring it down quicker before it beat itself apart, but it would not change altitude, the pitch would not move! Thats ok though cause it came down after it beat it self up in the air for a bit, after the fight with itself in the air, if fell to the ground spinning out of control and CRASH! The fight was over, and gravity won. After inspection I found the screw for one of the wash out arms came out, and caused one blade to loose control, then the loose arm took out the swash stabilizer, and twisted up the links on the swash, after the crash, it broke the blades, frame, stripped servo, stripped main gear, bent flybar rod, broke skids, and broken links on head.

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
I started nose in first, this way the directions make sense, if you want to cheat, go nose in, watch the level of the heli, with the heli nose in, you are able to move the cyclic stick in the direction the heli leans to bring it back to level. For instance if the heli is facing you, and it starts to lean to the left from your view, (the heli is actually leaning to the right if you look from the tail side) just push the cyclic stick in the direction its leaning, and this will bring it back center. With it leaning left, it is actually leaning right, moving the cyclic stick in the same direction is telling the heli to go left, since in reality it is going right, giving left stick will level the heli back out. This works in all directions. just move the stick in the way the heli leans, and this will center it back out. A good start for learning nose in. It worked for me.

I think out doors is the best, more room for rolls loops, and wild flying! also less odds of crashing into yourself! LOL!

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
Yep, there are usually about 3-4 planes in the air at a time, it is a huge gym, it is open for flying once and a while on random days. It is nice to have a place to fly like that even if it is not avalible all the time. [quote]ORIGINAL: consultjdm Ace, Nice Video, where were you flying? Did I see a plane go by in there too? Wow. [link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoVUdPwisYw[/link] Ok, here is the link to my flight last week, No loops or rolls today, i didnt feel like there was enough room inside, I think I would have lost it with a roll, I just played around, and had fun, great time though.

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
It was my friend flying, but as far as my observation goes, looking at the exact previous turn, (before the crash) it looks as if he almost lost that one, I assume he got turned around, and got the clasic Brain freeze, i will post the video of my flight soon. [quote]ORIGINAL: consultjdm Acebusa, That flight was really nice till the crash. I can't believe a few shafts aren't bent

[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpwHAWeBx6o[/link] Sorry it took so long to post this, I had problems with the video format, anyway, this is my friend flying, at the end when he crashes you will hear it hit the ground, then you will hear a crack, like a wip. This is the blade flying off, and hitting right behind me, and my other friend! Wow!

[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiD1ufRlP4M[/link] Did you see my video, I smashed mine in a loop too, Didnt hurt mine as bad, but should have been in the same boat as you, Sucks to see them hit the ground like that! Check out the video it might bring back a horrible flash back of your crash. LOL! Sorry that you damaged it so bad, but congrats for trying!

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
A few rolls, a loop, at the end what caused the crash was over confidence, I was coming out of a turn and tried to do a loop, I wasn't leveled off yet, so I was banked when I got inverted, since I was banked even with negitive pitch I was still loosing altitude, and SMASH!! That was it!

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
It didnt hurt it as bad as you would think, new blades, tail slider arm, skids, canopy, and a few minor parts, these helis are pretty tough, battery flew off, luckly it didnt get damaged!

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
Ok, here is my video, my friend had a hard time following the heli with the camera, bare with it, it ends with a crash due to over confidence, I started to feel invincable and quickly gravity reminded me that I wasn't. Still had a pretty fun time all in all.[link]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiD1ufRlP4M[/link]

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
Sound great, I dont know about the charger, or that brand of battery, but sounds like good specs for the battery, everything else sounds perfect, Which motor are you going to use? I saw you listed 2. Also you will need to decide on the pinion for your motor, I think the 11t is recomended for that motor, The 3550kv will spin slower than the 4050kv, but the 3550kv will probably put you where you want to be with a 11t pinion.

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
Also a little note, if your just hovering, I wouldn't use it until your use to it, when I first started using Idle up, I was doing nose in hover, and a gust of wind took my heli to the left, no big deal usually I was only a few inches off the ground so in habbit I cut the throttle, Forgot I was in Idle up, so that actually made it go negitive pitch, and wamo! slammed it to the ground hard, broke some parts, and flopped in a circle on the ground till I gathered my self, and shut off the idle up switch, Just be careful.

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
I use Idle up a lot, Expecially when Im flying outside in windy conditions, or flying high altitude, I like to be able to bring the heli Down in a hurry if need be, Also if you are not in Idle up, and a gust of wind shoots the heli up, you may chop the throttle rotor Idles down, and the heli begins to fall, then you throttle up, and the heli jumps, to wind up the rotor, and you are all over the place, if your in Idle up, it stays smooth, Just much better if you ask me. [quote]ORIGINAL: shag555 Are any of you guys using Idle-UP? I'm pretty good with forward flight and hovering in all atitudes is no problem (now). I haven't messed with the IU because I figured I'd concentrate on the things I mentioned first. I should probably stick with what I'm doing and get it down pat, but what my question is, is IU used primarily for 3D flight or is there an advantage to using it now for what I'm currently doing? Thanks [/quote]

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
Well did about 3 more rolls, on more loop, flew some circles, touch and goes, nose in, full throttle launch, started to get a little over confident, and tried to go into a loop way too low altitude, Landed upside down on the pavement! The rest can be figured out, Its not all that bad though, destroyed the blades, and skids, broken tail slider, other than that not too bad, got most of it on video, so I will post it soon! Oh well Im ok with it, its part of flying these things.[&o]

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
I did it!!! I went out after work, and got up high in the air, and did a complete roll! Not too controlled by any means, I decied to try again and did it two more times, Second one was a little better, and the third I rolled slower stopped upside down for a second, and finshed the roll, Too much fun, decided to push my luck and did a backward loop as well, it all went well, I was all over the sky though, all the birds were taking cover. After that I decided to land and not fly any more today, so 3 rolls 1 loop, and the rex is still in one piece, and a smile on my face![:D]

I was flying in my garage last night, had fun practicing found something fun to do, first I stacked some books just under the height of the blades, and practiced landing on them, very fun, then tied a golf ball sized object hanging from the skids, flew over a cup and tried to set it in the cup, very fun practice! Wow! Remember my post about my t-rex being to tame, and not turning as quickly as I would like? Fixed that problem, increased the value on the dx6 value cp2, and cp3, it is very sensitive to right stick inputs now, I mean WOW! I love it, for you guys wanting to tame down your bird decrease the values.

Nice flying JD, I like Thunder power 2100, A while back a poked a little hole in one of my newer batteries when I crashed, sent it back to thunder power, and they said they can't replace bad cells on used batteries, but they offer 50% off the price of a new battery for batteries under a year old, pretty good service, if you ask me, another reason to spend a little extra for thunder power![:D] New battery for $35 + Shipping, Total under $40
