RE: Sig Spacewalker II 1/4 scale
I use the syringes as well. Coffee stirrers work well for extensions and a little heat they will bend and stretch. My local Publix gives the syringes to me. But I still reuse them. The epoxy flakes right off and wood glue rinses out well with water.

LOL! I thought that was all planes olive Drab. At least that's how mine look on take off. Oh God what I'd give to be a world class pilot. Oh! Wait! With flight assist I am, and loving it.

RE: Improving stability
I would go with the Guardian. Put it on a switch and run it in 3D mode in general. If you get into trouble or get disoriented switch to the 2D mode and the plane will return to straight and level flight.

RE: Andy Sheber Pitts s1s
Tff, I'm not one to argue but the following is a direct paste from Sig's site. Notice the last sentence. Stix-It works great for adhering SIG Koverall, silk, silkspan, tissue, or any other uncoated covering material to a model. Its high solid content and adhesion qualities make it a breeze to cover models with these economical coverings. Stix-It eliminates the messy part of the traditional process. No more need to dope through the covering and rub it down with your fingers. Simply brush a coat of Stix-It on the wood, let it dry, then iron on your covering material.

One final note. Go to the Jet section and in the search window type in "Eagle Tree Guardian". For those that spend many thousands on there airplane, there seems to be a different attitude toward flight assist.

RE: Improving stability
Jet, no offence here. And my responses were not directed to any one in particular. But more in general to the fact that it is a personal choice. And it's not right for others to attack that choice. A good example is something mentioned earlier and that would be Helis. Why is it ok for helis and not for planes. They did not have gyros when they first came into play. Gyros did not have heading hold when they first came into play. But it's ok to use them now, why? Because the pilots need some form of flight assistance right or is it because flying a heli is just to difficult without it. Hmmmmmmmmmm!! Me think's it to be the latter!

RE: Improving stability
No! There is no cheating in everyday recreational flying. Not if that is what I want to do or use. And all the blow hards and enlarged ego's are not going to change that. Now granted I may not be the McDaddy pilot like apparently so many are. But I have the right to use what ever electronic means that is at my disposal to make me happy with what or how I fly. And that goes for anyone. If you want them, if you like them, and if that is your choice, do it. Great. Fabulous!!!!!!

RE: Andy Sheber Pitts s1s
Anthony, same here with the Stix-it. I just did not remember it being that old. I guess like other items I need to date it when I purchase it. Of which I have done with the can that came today. I also ordered some more fabric yesterday as well. I threw away the pieces from the failed attempt to attach. I am beginning to get that I will be glad when this one is done feeling, so maybe a few more days doing other things will alleviate that.

RE: Andy Sheber Pitts s1s
Well I believe I figured out why I was having attachment issues or pulling away issues. In the process of recovering today I got to a point where I could not even iron the fabric on, period. Now, I know my jar of Stix it is maybe a year old but the bigger issue may be evaporation. It has became somewhat thick from being open during use. So I think it is to old and/or to weak. I ordered another can, it should be here in a few days.

RE: Andy Sheber Pitts s1s
Thank's Billy. I do really like the Stits process just have to get better at it. Thank's Steve and I know what you mean. I have looked at that big one for some time but it was beyond me. But recently I decided that I want to build my dream plane while I'm young enough to enjoy it. After it's done it will be back to reality for me. On the engine I initially thought of the DLE 170. Did not think I could afford the McDaddy of engines, which for me is a Valach 170 4s gas. But as with the kit if I'm going to build such a nice, big, dream plane, I might as well power it the same. So I have talked myself into the Valach. I have attached a link to a video of the size I will be building with the Valach 170, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueBSibTEE6g enjoy.

RE: Andy Sheber Pitts s1s
Thank's Anthony. I have made an aluminum transition piece, this give's the fabric more surface area to adhere to. And it does not need that piece of cloth tucked in the corner. Irregardless of the outcome this will be the last cover job. But on the bright side I have learned a lot about the Pitts so the BIG one will come out real nice.

RE: Andy Sheber Pitts s1s
David the Sig has worked well for several airframes now. I was laying down some real wet layers in an attempt to get that glass smooth surface. The really wet layer is what has caused the problem. I know (by smell) the stix it and the poly have the same base and apparently the Sig is capable of being reactivated in the addition of more base chemical. I had assumed once heated and dried it was done. Â Maybe someone with more knowledge of these matters will chime in.

RE: Andy Sheber Pitts s1s
John that IP look's as good in yours as it does in mine. The silver (Polyspray) has been done. That is a far as I will get today, it has become to warm for me to spray. I have also found a problem with the Sig Stix-it, it would appear the Poly's base ingredient reactivates the Sig adhesive when wet spraying. I did have one place pull loose, reattached it as best I could. No I'm not recovering again although that spot does look like crap. I will work on it with a little heat and see if I can get it to smooth out. I will call Stits tomorrow and see if their adhesive does the same, if not I will switch. I tried their Polytak a couple of years ago but did not like it. I may have to get used to it because we can't have thing's pulling loose.

As one can see in the below photo. The wife did go to town. The Polybrush is complete in about 20 minutes I will shoot the Polyspray. If all goes well and the wife is gone long enough I just may get the coat of primer yellow on today.

As it stands I am very pleased with the way it is going. And as it is I am only 5 months into this build. Not bad for a scale scratch build, if I do say so myself.

Coming along VJ. You're going to love that DLE 35. And if you don't mind I'd like to add to your razor technique. A thin strip of brass with one egde sharpened will curve nicely for the not so strait cuts, well un-cuts.
