RE: Futaba 14mz flap setup
Gary, Here is how I do it. 1) Make sure the model type is set for 2 flaps 2) Use function menu to assign flap control to whatever switch you want 3) In flaps ATV, define a curve or a line 4) Set the right flap perfect setup (up, down, etc..) 5) Go in the flap setting and adjust the left flap to be perfect as well 6) You will see that #5 is iterative because when you change flap offset it affects both left and right. Use a digital gauge for a perfect setup 7) Add some servo slow 8) Feel free to also define several conditions (takeoff, landing, etc...) . Make the condition switch the same switch as the flaps I hope this helps. Arnaud

RE: Fuel line setup question
It will mostly pull for the main with a just a little coming from the non empty tank in paralel. This will cause some fuel to be unavailable. Arnaud

RE: Fuel line setup question
If your tanks, especially the closest to the UAT are very strong, it is more reliable to run them in serie. Every time you put 2 tanks in paralel, there is a chance that one will empty before the other. The pressure in the first tank will be a lot more than the pressure in the next tank, etc.... One way to minimize this effect is to use some very large vents. If you must run them in parallel, try using the same fuel line length and make sure to connect both saddle tank to one common vent. I hope this helps Arnaud

RE: Airpower 5U Pro air valve failsafe HELP!
Axel, This issue has been driving me crazy and I have seen it on several valves. For me the problem was that I was using a Futaba 6014 receiver, without a signal booster. After adding a booster on both the gear and brake signal connection, the problem totally disappeared. Assuming you are a Futaba user, here is what you need: http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdID=SPMCP I hope this helps. Arnaud

RE: Futaba 12z / 14MZ gear sequencing built in :)
I'm afraid that's impossible. In the end, the failsafe needs a way decide that the gear needs to be lowered because the pressure is getting too low, and start the whole sequence. So it needs a way to tell the receiver that something changed. Receivers have no input, just outputs. Arnaud

RE: Futaba 12z / 14MZ gear sequencing built in :)
Because it works on just one channel. If you put it on the gear channel, the gear will go down on pressure loss but there is no way to tell the rx / radio to also lower / change the position of the gear doors. I suppose you could use 2 gear failsafes but then it become easier and economically equivalent to use a failsafe and a gear sequencer in serie. Arnaud

RE: servo fire
I'm glad this happened on the ground! How many volts do you guys run in your melting servos? I wonder if this is a factor. I agree that binding is likely a problem but I suspect that over voltage could be a factor as well. Arnaud

RE: Futaba 12z / 14MZ gear sequencing built in :)
Use 2 channels both operated by the retract switch. One for doors and one for the gear In ATV section, use a line or a curve with a few points for both channels. Define the points for the door to form a square shape. Define the gear line to be flat for 50% of the time, go down abruptly and stay flat for the remaining of the time. Use servo slow on both channels. Enjoy. But as mentioned before, you won't be able to use a gear failsafe. Arnaud

RE: Futaba 12z / 14MZ gear sequencing built in :)
This works well except for the fact that you can't use a Tam failsafe with this system as 2 channels are used Arnaud

RE: what gyro for vector thrust?
I use Futaba 401 in my Euro. I suspect that any cheap gyro that can be turned off from the transmitter will work. Gyros really help to exit flap spins and tumbles. Just release the stick and you are set! I have flown my euro without gyros and exiting flat spin was a little on the scary side as a lot of inertia was building up. I think you want to be able to turn them off when flying in non 3D mode or to get more extreme maneuvers like faster flat spins. Have fun! Arnaud

RE: Futaba 14 channel receiver question
Sure you can link an unlimited number or receivers to your TX. However, the only way to get real redundancy for all channels is to use a powerbox. The powerbox monitors one special channel that you define and automatically switches if a failsafe occurs. Arnaud

RE: Best all around sports jet?
Another point is the fact the Bandit caries more fuel than the Flash. My timer is set at 8mn and then I spend a good 2mn to land. I fly with a 120SE between 80 and 100% power. All the Flash I routinely fly with land after about 6mn. The Bandit is a major pain in the ass to assemble at the field. So much that I keep mine in one piece. But I understand that BVM just fixed that in the new version. Also, the bandit is more work. Arnaud

RE: Skymaster or Feibao Rafale?
I love my Tamjets (Feibao) Rafale. With the ordinance, it was marginal with a 120 so I now use a Titan SE. I don't think a P80 would be appropriate. The only problem with it is that you'll have to shorten the main LG by 10mm and move it forward as much as possible. Without that modification, the plane has rotation problems and tends to jump in the sky. Arnaud

RE: Skymaster Mig 29 Nose Tray
ORIGINAL: ianober So if it isn't offered by Skymaster then how do they expect you to fasten the pitot on Arnaud? I mean the threaded rod on the pitot is not long enough to reach the former where the nose attaches and even if it was there is nothing in the middle of the former for you to screw it into. Seems like a poor setup to me, letting the customer rely on "figuring out" half the option.
I was planning to cut and glue a vertical or horizontal piece of wood and then glue a threaded rod at the proper location such as the rod goes through the nose and then bolt the pitot on it. This is assuming the pitot has a female thread. I can't remember. I have a similar setup on my 16 and that's very convenient. Arnaud
