RE: Xtreme F-16 1/6.75
Looks like the perfect size for one person handling and big enough to still fly good without getting knocked around in the air. I wonder if the gear are as tough as the 1/6 version and can handle grass operations. Marty

Hey Rich, I tried scanning it and then printing it. It printed a tad smaller. I will email you the file anyway as it gives you the correct shape and you can enlarge it or let me know a better way. Marty
ORIGINAL: ModellbauUK  Just taken delivery of a new jersey fuel can. Looks pretty good. I like the recycling facility to connect to the over flow of the tank Does anyone know if you can use a lipo battery in place of the recommended 8 cell NiMH battery?
I just recently had to change my plastic project box which housed the battery and switch and went to a smaller box and used a two cell 2300 A123 which works great and slows the pump down enough as to not getting those scary expanding cracking sounds as the tanks expand.[:D] Also less worries about charging than with a lipo. RE: 18 MZ T2 trim reversed
Dan, Just a thought. If you go into the linkage menu under function and check the trims for the elevator channels( I assume they are on different channels), are they both set the same or different in terms of "combined" or "separate"? I would play around with those settings and see if it changes anything. Marty

RE: Comp ARF BAE Hawk build thread
ORIGINAL: tucson Alan And Dave, Thanks for your input. I like the idea of bolted ball joints to help correct the angle. It is not a perfect fix but if it works leave it alone. A friend here in Tucson Has not started his yet. He says he is going to mount his servo on the inside of the top skin between the gear mount and original servo mount. He says that it is then in line with the horn and he can still get his gear in and out. I will look into that also. Stan
Tucson, What did you end up doing with the flap setup? Mine are way off. I tried the "cracking the horn" technique. Big mistake. I should have thought it through more. Now I've got hours of cutting, dremeling and fitting a new horn in there at the right angle.[:@] Marty

RE: Jets Over Kentucky Part II (Crash)
Is it me or do both elevons seem to start fluttering simultaneously? I know flutter can induce other parts of the airframe to vibrate themselves apart but this seems to happen at the same time like maybe the servos lost power? Just wondering. Marty Great video BTW

RE: Fuel Shutoff Valve??
ORIGINAL: Gonzalo38 Afterburner: I was checking the drawing of the Cheetah KS manual, and the shutoff valve is installed before the pump. I was checking the downloadable version of the manual. In the gas version is after the pump.
My diagram for kero install is dated Febrero 2012. Marty

RE: Fuel Shutoff Valve??
ORIGINAL: Gonzalo38 It's interesting to see that not even the manufacturers have an agreement on the placement of the Fuel Shutoff valve. When looking at a Jetcentral manual, the installation drawing for a turbine with kerostart says that the valve goes before the fuel pump. For the same turbine but this time with gas start, the installation drawing shows the valve between the pump and the solenoid. When looking at a Jetcat manual, the installation drawing shows the valve installed after the solenoid. In some other drawings (kerostart), they don't even show a shutoff valve in the drawing. In the Wren manuals, no mention of a shutoff valve.
I'm in the middle of installing a new JC Cheetah KS and the diagram shows the cutoff right after the pump. Marty

RE: Futaba S-Bus system
ORIGINAL: Xairflyer
ORIGINAL: FenderBean People keep bringing this up but what kind of redundancy does the normal setup have? In a jet you still have one servo lead for each servo, if you loose a servo going to either elevator most jets are done. If you have a servo go bad itself the wiring doesnt matter, even if you have to servos running the elevator you might survive if one servo goes bad/dead and still free wheels. Just a thought I think its just like everything else thats new just like 2.4 everyone was scared of it and now most clubs dont allow 72mhz [:D]
But you still have the exact same with Sbus you still can loose one elevator/ail/rud servo, but now you have increased the chance of loosing everything with one cable feeding all the servos. Why didnt Futaba build in a redundancy system using two cables instead of one, the reason being is the person who designed it is sitting behind a desk and dos'nt even fly and if he does it is probably foamies. Why also was it made to use a special servo ? to make you spend more money! They clearly didnt need to do that as Hobbyking have shown with their recently introduced Sbus decoder that can use standard servos.
You might want to get more info on something before you start ridiculing it. You don't need to use sbus servos in the sbus system. Futaba already sells a decoder. Anyone who is setting up an sbus system and uses a a HK decoder should probably stick to control line aircraft. Marty

RE: Jets Over Kentucky Week 2012 /
The amount of time and effort to put on the Grandest Jet Event is something most of us don't usually think about when we are there experiencing it but after it is over and have time to reflect, we realize the work and sweat that goes into it. For that I say thanks to Lewis and his crew for another memorable Kentucky Jets. Marty
