RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!!
I used the 615s with oleos on a 17lb P-40, flying off a petromat runway. Worked OK, but not great. I figure they should do just fine on a 10 lb Corsair with relatively short spring steel wire struts. So far, so good. If your runway is rough, the 615s may not work as well. As for fixing the leak, I have no suggestions other than replace the cylinder/shaft. Brian

RE: Are there constant load servos for flaps?
mike68: I had some analog servo humming on my ESM corsair. I slide some thin paper (like a dollar bill) between a flap section and the wing, made sure the paper moved freely, then went to first flap position, checked again, then full down flaps, and checked again. Did the same procedure on all six flap sections. Found a couple of places when a flap section would bind. A little sanding cleaned it up. Brian

RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!!
Ed: The 108 fit rather well. I used a Bisson Pitts muffler. And put in an 800 or 850cc fuel tank. Took a little dremel work, but it went in. An 1100 mah LiFe battery is in the top of the fuse under the fuel tank. If you get to the point of really going the 108 route, let me know. Some pictures of my install might be helpful. Brian

RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!!
Got a few more flights on my Corsair. All good. Still breaking in the OS. Once its broken in well, I am going to try a 3 blade prop. The elevator seems fairly sensitive. I've got -55% expo (futaba) in it. That's more than I use in my other warbirds. Brian

I like the Mall Show pictures. Looks like a good event. I like the weekend forecast even better! At least a couple of us from Amarillo should be there to fly and a few more will probably come to watch. Brian

RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!!
Got the maiden and a second flight in today. No drama. no video or pictures (sorry). Light crosswind, cloudless blue sky. Easy enought to keep this corsair straight during takeoff. Needed a few clicks of down elevator and right aileron but no problem. Made several horizontal figure 8s, turns nicely. Right aileron rolls were straight and quick. Left aileron roll had a little "barrel roll" in it, but not bad. Full flaps to land with some down elevator, but i don't think it really needs the down elevator. Easy to land. Actually more like a sports plane than a warbird, but it sure looks like a warbird! Second flight was similar except I had a few small hops on landing. Found out the plane (stock blue covering) really disappears against the cloudless blue sky here. As posted early the plane came in at 10 lb, CG about 1/16" ahead of design location, OS 108, Robart air retracts, no additional weight needed for balance. A couple of pictures after the maiden flight. Brian

RE: JR 791 retract servo with LiFe pack.
I use LiFe batteries and need 4-cell voltage in a couple of planes for specific items. JR has a 2 Channel Voltage regulator I use. At $30, the diode's are probably cheaper. This solution is not necessarily better, but here is a link to the item. http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/2-channel-voltage-regulator-JRPVR5203 Brian

Warbird Day 10/6/12 Amarillo, TX
Warbird Day is coming up Oct. 6th at our clubs field in Amarillo, TX. See the pdf attachment for details. While this is only a one day event, the field will be available for flying Friday and Sunday for those who come early and/or stay late. Just let me know. We put down new petromat for our runway and pit area earlier this year. Attached is a picture of the field. Brian Amarillo Radio Kontrol Society

RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!!
Got a few details to check, otherwise mine is ready to go. 10 lb, CG about 1/16" ahead of design location, OS 108, Robart air retracts, no additional weight needed for balance. At this point I think TF did a good job on this ARF. Mostly went together well. One flap is a problem with the tab between the inner flap and middle flap coming out of the slot at full 1" throw. Has anyone had a similar problem and fixed it? Right now, i am just limiting the full throw to about 3/4 in. I am kind of disappointed in the "kill" decals. There are about forty individual "kill" markings, not just a couple of full or even partial sets. There's no way i can get that many to line up in any reasonable fashion. Should get it in the air sometime this week. Brian

RE: NiMH charging
Roodester: I know you are considering switching to NiMH batteries. You might want to look into a different type of chemistry - A123 LiFe in particular. Hangtime Hobbies has a good FAQ about them. http://www.hangtimes.com/index.html One $45 charger such as the Thunder AC 6 is all the charger you will need, even with six planes. I switched to the LiFe batteries last year. Made things much simpler with multiple planes. You can find LiFe batteries for less than Hangtime's price. I value their options, add-ons, and customer service enough to buy from them. Brian

RE: I Saw it! TF 60 Size Corsair ARF!!!!!
Mine is coming along. should be ready in a few weeks. OS 108, robart retracts with wire struts. Pilot will probably be same as the one in the manual. i looked at some of the kit build threads to see what they said about the pilot. One person used the upper portion of a GI Joe. A little larger than scale, but looked OK in the cockpit. A mock up indicates mine will come in about 10 lbs with a good CG needing no extra weight. Brian

RE: Giant Scale Flight Battery Options???
Q1. The LiFe batteries I use (from Hangtime Hobbies) are at 7.2V off the charger and 7.0V 30 minutes later after settling down. unless you can find some documentation that your servos and other electronics are good for 7+ volts, i would suggest a voltage regulator. Q2. Don't really know, but i doubt it. I had a Cell Pro Multi4, but I sold it. Now using two Thunder AC6 chargers. The Thunder AC6 does not have the memory flexibility the Cell Pro has, but when I went to LiFes I found that one setting could deal with all my RX batteries so the memory thing really was not necessary.
