RE: New to me B4 issues
Update 2.. After taking the car to the hobby shop and finding my esc was messed up, I replaeced it and got some servo mounts.. Got the car running and it runs great! The only issue I have is after i put it into reverse even for a second, I cant go foward for a few seconds, on the other hand I can be going foward and just slam it into reverse at any time.. Im pretty sure this is bass ackwards because of a built in esc braking sequence or something.. Any ideas? Can I switch the polarity on the engine and servo reverse to fix it or is this a way to let the magic smoke out of my setup?

RE: New to me B4 issues
Update... Got the servo screw back in.. It looked harder than it was to remove the servo.. Ended up cracking one of the crappy servo mounts so a hobby shop trip is in order.. ALso the connecter on the esc is a deans connecter already.. Should I try cutting off a cm or so, stripping and resoldering it back to the esc or just buy a new one?

New to me B4 issues
Hi all! Im new to r/c cars but have experience with nitro planes and boats. I recently aquired an associated B4 buggy dirt cheap. Ive had a couple issues with is as to be expected from a used rc.. The screw that holds the servo arm has fell out. How in the world am I supposed to get it back in the servo?? Also I think I have an issue with my rx/ esc. I can run fine for a while and then the car acts like it loses signal for a second thenk I regain control.. Ive noticed if I flip the connection between the esc and battery I can cause this problem.. Any ideas on this? Again I am a total newbie to cars and electric! Thanks a lot!

RE: Labor Day cooking on the grill.
Ive found a great rib recipe that I will share iwht you. Get a good rack of baby back ribs and place themi in a glass cooking dish. add about an inch of apple juice to the pan. sprinkle on your favorite all purpose seasoning. I use Shoups. its a spice made in my hometown of Frankfort, IN. Cover the dish with tin foil and place in the oven for about 2 hrs at 275. This tenderizes the ribs and adds juices and flavor to them. After the oven, place on the grill. I use a Weber charcoal grill and push the coals to one side. I place a couple handfuls of hickory chips on the coals to add some smoke flavor and cook on the other so I have indirect heating. flip the ribs every 20 mins, slathering your favorite bbq on every time you turn them. leave on the grill for abouit an hour. This way the bbq carmelizes on the ribs, giving you that perfect bbq flavor. This method makes the ribs tender and juicy, but still firm and meaty.

Wing joint repair
I nose dived my Great Planes Escapade in the other day and I broke my wing inot 2 pieces. When I assembled this plane, it was an option to epoxy the 2 wing halves together or have a 2 piece wing for easy transporting. I decided to epoxy the wing together. When I crashed, the wing cracked in half on the right side of the wing. Basically, my epoxy joint held and the firs rib stayed with the left wing. I ahve done all of the internal wing repair and was wondering if it would be ok to just epoxy the wing back together as is. I would epoxy them together and then put a layer of glass over the fracture. I am almost positive this will be sufficent, but just wanted an oponion. Thanks!!

RE: What is your view on restaurant tipping?
I served tables for over 2 years at a Ocharleys, a decent restaraunt in Indianapolis. I was the best server the restaraunt had and I was often the one called in when another server screwed up. Overall, I gave exceptional service. I had drinks refilled before theirs ran out, offered HONEST advice about the menu, etc. I avereged about 1200$ worth of sales for the restauraunt a night. I got paid 2.12 an hour and got to keep all my tips. on 1200$ sales, I usually brought home 180$ a night. I feel FOR EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE, tip your server. they work their ASS off foryou. Customers dont realize that the servier is the one making their soup, dessert, bread, etc. I also agree that bad service should not be rewarded. I regularly tip 15% becasue 70% of servers dont try to wow their guests with great service. When I get GREAT sercive, I usuallay tip 20% As a server, a 20% tip is GREAT. Remember, the restaraunt basically doesnt pay the servers, so the customer has to makeup for that. If the restaraunt paid the servers, your food dish prices would be 2-4 dollars more expensive.

Thanks for the info! I will get a better idea on how this engine will sit one i get the fuse built. Im not opposed to changing engines, but i had this one on hand and want to try it. Will glassing the inside of the cowl help it keep it's shape if it gets too hot? Thanks for the advice!

Sig 1/4 scale Cub
I just recieved my sig 1/4 scale cub. The papers say that the kit was made in 1982. I was wondering if there were any pitfalls or tips on building this kit? Also, how close can a gas engine sit to the cowl? I have a Homelite 26?cc engine for this plane and it looks like its gonna be a TIGHT fit.

RE: Dynaflite Butterfly build
I have one of these airplanes. mines about 10 years old now. They are a great lazy flier. The only thing I would to the plane is redesign the landing gear. on a rough landing, they pop right through the fuse. One thing you could to to prevent this is to fiberglass the sides of the fuse where the gear rest. I have laso heard of people not even putting landing gear on and just belly landing the plane. Other thatn the gear, this is a great plane!

Dont let the pics intimidate you.. its really easy to build. I had only built a coulple of airplane kits before this boat and it was a breeze.

RE: Dumas airboats
Im not sure with a .40 I would venture to guess 25-30 mph with a good prop on it. my .51 is too much. I rarely even mak it to 3/4 throttle before it is moving fast enough to go airborne. For some reason, boats seem to go faster than cars or planes. I primarily fly planes taht go 70-90 mph and this airboat gives me as much of a speed rush as the planes. I got my plywood from my local hobby shop. if you dont have a LHS, towerhobbies sells the stuff as well. BTW i used a bandsaw to make most of my cuts, but it could easily be build using a dremel tool. I dont think it would be fun at all to build using an exacto though. this ply is TOUGH stuff.

RE: Dumas airboats
If you want to build, Cajungator has a set of plans a little farther down teh airboat page. He gives you all the measurements and you build the boat from scratch. I followed his plans and got an awesome airboat built in about 2 months. I used aircraft grade plywood which is $$ and it cost me about $50 in wood and 15 in adhesives. I used standard Futaba servos, a tiny 2channel reciever, and a supertigre 51 for power. This is WAY too much engine for the airboat, but I already had the engine laying around. After buying everything, I think you could build the boat and all the equipment for 175-200 dollars. (If you already have a transmitter, it would be considerabaly cheaper)I fiberglassed my boat so I would not have to worry about leaks and it has worked perfectly. You can buy plane engines on the Rcuniverse market, ebay, towerhobbies, etc. I would reccomend a .40-.46 engine as these will be plenty of power for the boat. you could find a gently used engine for 30-40 dollars if you are patient. Dont know if you want to scratch build but I had a blast building mine!
