RE: 5th Annual West Texas Warbirds
Hi again guys. Just wanted to add a bit about the upcoming event. I finally got my P47 back into shape to fly again and none to soon. I had an electronic ignition conversion done to my Zenoah G45 which used to be a magneto ignition. With all the magneto equipment off, and the cylinder fins shaved down the engine weight was dropped by nearly 2 1/2 pounds. I was then able to remove the box I had made to contain BB's from the rear of the plane (just ahead of the vertical stab). I had to cut a hatch in the fuselage there to get the box inside. As it turns out I had to add just a little extra weight to the nose to hit the CG just right. I took it out this passed Sunday afternoon to "Re-maiden" it I had had landing gear problems previously as well. The left side gear would fold up frequently, even after many adjustments, but this weekend I had no such problems. The engine runs beautifully with the electronic ignition. Had 3 flights and 3 landings without mishap. So looks like the 81" Hangar-9 P47 will be my sweetheart for this years event. Looking forward to it like crazy.

Hi guys. I finally was able to get the Mall show pics uploaded to the thread. This was on Saturday September 1st. Our third annual Warbirds mall show. We had a great time talking planes and getting information into peoples hands about the event.

RE: 5th Annual West Texas Warbirds
Hey guys, it's me again. Just completed our 3rd annual South Plains Mall Show to promote our 5th annual West Texas Warbirds event coming up on the 14th-16th of September. We had a great time, as usual, talking with all kinds of folks about our planes and the event. We usually get a terrific turn out for the event from the mall show and I'm thinking this year will be no exception. I'm uploading a few pics from the mall show. This is a great way to promote the club and the event.

RE: 5th Annual West Texas Warbirds
Hey everybody! It's hard to believe we're heading into our 5th year for hosting Warbirds Over West Texas! We've grown a little more each year and our facilities have improved with us. We're extremely proud of all our club members who pitch in throughout the year but especially at Warbirds. There's a lot that goes into hosting one of these events but we always seem to rise to meet the challenge and our club members, visiting pilots and spectators always seem to have a great time. I don't know if we'll see something like this again this year but I remember the 1st year we did this something that happened that turned out to be great entertainment for all. One of our visiting pilots from Clovis New Mexico, Jimmy Cowman, was flying his big B-17G. He came in on approach to land and found out he had no throttle control over the port side 2 engines. He was unable to keep it on the runway and it ran off into the infield chasing one of our club members Grady Alberts. It sort of looked like one of those scenes where you have a big goose chasing someone. Luckily for Grady, a couple of our guys were able to catch the wings of the big bird before it could run Grady down. Too bad no one had a cam corder running at the time. Hopefully, if Jimmy is there again this year he can wow us in maybe a slightly different way. If any of you out there are pilots and need another event to come to to strut your stuff, check us out at www.westtexaswarbirds.com. Everything you'll need to know is there. See you in about 3 weeks!

RE: Warbirds over west texas
Hi guys. I'll be there with bells on. I'm not sure yet if I'll be doing much flying since I'll have other duties to perform such as announcing, shooting some pics and vids. Miss Lubbock 2008 (Brittney Bennett) will be here to do our pilot interviews for the DVD and will sing the National anthem at the commencement of the "after break" flying on Saturday. We're having a couple of planes being flown out from the Texas Air Museum, Slaton Texas branch on Friday and available on static display til Sunday. Cast Iron grill catering will be providing us hungry thirsty souls with eats and drinks all 3 days for Breakfast and lunch. Of course we'll have mens and ladies porta-potties on site for those pesky calls of nature as well. Everything you could possibly need will be provided on site, except for electric hookups. Bring your easy-ups and as someone has already said lots of water. If I get a chance to fly it'll be my trusty Hangar-9 Fokker DVII and an Airfield P47 EPO electric. This is going to be a really great event and I hope to see a bunch of you there! Yee Haw!

RE: *** Warbirds Over Texas 2011. RCU Onsite Coverage ***
Hey Guys. It was a great event! I was with the Lubbock boys that came down for the event and I'm sure glad we did. We'd like to make it an anual habit. Of course we host our own event every year on the first weekend of August. This year it's on the 5th -7th of August.....WEST TEXAS WARBIRDS at the Abernathy Aerodrome in Abernathy Texas. Check us out at www.wingsmas.org for further information. We have 1,700' of runway on the north end of the landing strip and it's 75' wide, no trees, just wide open sky. You'll be hard pressed to miss that runway. It's always good to "Get out of Dodge" so to speak and just have fun flying. So make arrangements to get away that weekend and let us host you. We've got great entertainment lined up for Saturday evenings Pilots Banquet. We've got a Jazz band and a lovely young lady Jazz singer that also happens to be called "The Jazz Singer." We also have Colonel Kenneth Hite speaking at the banquet. He retired in 1977 and flew F-86's and F-4s in North Korea. His older brother is still one of the surviving members who was also a co-pilot on one of the B-25's in the Doolittle Raid. We'd love to have as many of you as can make the trip to come join us. I'd love to pack out the dining hall for Colonel Hite. There sure aren't many like him around any more. Hope to see you there!

RE: NITROMODELS REPLACEMENT PARTS REQUEST_Post Here
Well, what do you know? My own question is answered. I reaccessed the notroplanes site and clicked spare parts again and now it shows the propeller but it is out of stock. Oh well.

an addition to the above post. The web site is www.nitroplanes.com/92a847-800p47-rtf-24g-silver.html I need a replacement prop for the Airfield P47 750mm RTF and possibly a prop shaft. Nothing listed in spare parts for either.

RE: NITROMODELS REPLACEMENT PARTS REQUEST_Post Here
Hi there. I ordered a nirtroplanes 2.4 GHz P47 Airfield 750mm r/c plane. I had a slight mishap with it and as a result need a new 3 bladed prop and possibly a prop shaft. I checked out the nitroplanes sight, looked up the plane again, clicked on spare parts and nothing was show on the parts list for the prop. The motor is out of stock but there is nothing in the parts listeing about a prop shaft either. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Yeah guys! No rain. We'll be high and dry for West Texas Warbirds. Temps are supposed to be in the mid 90's on Saturday and Sunday with patchy clouds. Winds 10-12 mph out of the south so you couldn't ask for better conditions. Put the pedal to the medal boys and let's all rip the shies over West Texas a new one. Ha Ha.

RE: ^^^^^WEST TEXAS WARBIRDS 2010^^^^^
Hi guys. Well are you war bird jockies just straining against the bit to get your tails down here for some awesome, magnificent, incredible, stupendous, hair raising, chills up the back making, goose bump having, goose bumps on goose bumps having, intensely adrenalin pumping flying? Too many adjectives? I don't think so. Not if we're hosting the warbird event of all warbird events and you have the guts to make the trip to even try to keep up with us. Ha. Manfred Von Richthoven, step aside. WINGSmas is here and we're laying down the gauntlet for any who would take the challenge. My viewpoint is of course completely objective and unbiased. As the secretary for WINGSmas, it's my sworn obligation to remain completely neutral in all situations. All kidding aside. This is going to be an exceptional event. Everyone who can needs to make the trip. We've got special guests to grace us with their presence and some entertainment lined up for the Pilots Banquet that you will absolutely love. No hints. I wouldn't want to take the element of surprise away from you. We're all looking forward to it here, and looking forward to connecting with you all again.

RE: Heavy Metal Warbird Fly-In Lubbock, TX
Hey guys. Just want to say again what a great time we had as the team from Lubbock, Tx WINGSmas at this years Warbirds over Oklahoma. It's only 4 weeks now til we hold our Warbirds over West Texas event. I hope to see all of you there. This year is going to be really special. We'll be having a full scale Vintage WWII era plane flying in on Saturday the 7th. We're alos having Patty Maxine and Laverne (The Andrews Sisters) to perform for our Pilots dinner on Saturda night. We're also having Miss Lubbock Centennial. She will be at the airfield on Saturday for a few hours to have pictures made with pilots and assist in doing pilot interviews. That should be lots of fun. She will also be performing for us at the pilots banquet. We're going to have a great, full day of flying and a great banquet to top things off. We're looking forward to having Jimmy Cowman again this year. I don't know what he's bringing to fly but I'm sure it'll be top notch. Peter Fritsche will there also from Allen Texas with his giant scale P-38. Will Bill Holland have his big new Corsair with the folding wings ready to fly by then? Hopefully. This is going to be great, so don't miss it!

RE: ****Warbirds Over Oklahoma 2010****
Hi Muggenkidd. I think everyone who attended the event had a great time. The 5 of us (5 horsemen of the apocalypse) from Lubbock really enjoyed all the event had to offer. You have a really great group of guys up there that made this thing all it could be and then some! We are really looking forward to you all coming again to Lubbock to fly with us. We had about 30 pilots last year and this year we're shooting for 50. Peter Fritshe will be joining us from Allen, Tx and hopefully 1 or two more from his area. We're hoping for more Oklahoma Pilots as well. Look forward to seeing you.

RE: ****Warbirds Over Oklahoma 2010****
Hi again Pete. I'm happy to hear that you're going to come. Yes, we have Jimmy Cowman and his crew chief David every year at our warbirds. He does his RC shopping in Lubbock since there is no hobby shop in Clovis New Mexico. Our event is kind of a "warm up" for him before going to Warbirds over the Rockies. I had time set aside for that this year but it seems they moved the event from the last weekend in August to some time in September. Oh well. You can't win 'em all. I'll let the guys know to expect you. The crew from Oklahoma will be with us again this year with maybe a few more pilots. We're hoping to hit the 50 pilot mark this year, so if there is someone from Allen intrepid enough to make the trip with you bring him or her along. How about the wife and kids? Are they game for something like that? If you have grand kids I guess your kids aren't really kids anymore are they? Oh well. As we get closer to the date if you need to reach me my cell is (806) 777-1598 and e-mail is flyboywagner@yahoo.com. See ya soon.

Hi G Pete. Tom Wagner here from Lubbock, Tx. It was good to see you again at Oklahoma. In case you hadn't heard, you won best WWII and best of show awards for the P38. You've got some awesome planes. We hope to see you in Lubbock on August 6-8th for our Warbirds event. I thought you lived in Austin since I saw you there last month and 2 years before that. But since you live in Dallas you're only 4 hours from us. Us guys from Lubbock had a great time in Oklahoma, overcast skies not withstanding.

RE: WINGS WARBIRD INVITATIONAL
take it from me as someone who was at last years Warbird Invitational in Abernathy Texas sponsored by the Wings Miniature Aircraft Society (WINGSMAS), it was fantastic and this year looks to be even better! More pilots, more planes, breakfast and lunch served both days Aug 8th and 9th by Cast Iron Caterers. Anyone who hasn't been to the Abernathy Aerodrome (the official flying site of WINGSMAS) since last years Warbird event will hardly recognize the site. Wow! Alot of time, sweat and of course cash went into all the improvements but they're all well worth it. Bring the wife, kids and anyone you can grab to the event this year. Your sure to get a thrill.
