RE: Electric conversion for the BOT
We have several of these converted to electric in our club. A power 25 with 14x8 folder and a 2100-3300 3 cell battery works well. It will balance with this set up and no additional weight. I did a mini build thread at rc groups in the electric sailplane forumn on cutting the nose and modding it to be round to match the spinner. Mark Anderson

RE: Who is using SBUS?
I just got done setting up a 33% pawnee. We used servo's already in the shop (non s-bus) for the tail and engine control, and put s-bus servos in the wings and glider release. So far I am very impressed. It all went together easily and at least on the bench works great. We admittedly have a very diverse mix of servos but it all seems to work well. I hope to have all the bits finished up in the next few weeks and will pass on our experiences. Mark

RE: Stihl 4-mix 65cc questions
No spring. Runs great. Flew it for two years. Flew my 1/3 scale cub for an hour on 32 oz. of fuel. Started aero towing so it is sitting on the shelf right now waiting on a new home. Mark

RE: Stihl 4-mix 65cc questions
I used a wt-201. I put it on a 90 degree intake that I made. I have no spitting from the carb. The nipple on the side of the block is the pressure port for the pump. The only problem that i ever had is oil building up in the pump diaphram. I used a tee to form a sump and put a drain plug in and drained it each day. Mark

RE: World Models 1/3 Super Cub
Built my own with help of a friend. We band sawed white foam to his templates. Then I put a single layer of 6oz glass cloth on with epoxy. Filled and painted them. Built and installed in two weeks. They are only 5lbs complete. Has been a blast and always draws a crowd. Last winter I stripped the covering, Put all the servos inside, added a light system and recovered it with Stits fabric. added a couple of pounds but it still floats like a glider. Mark

RE: newer homelite chain saw conversion
I have a 50cc Stihl that I have flown for several years. It has a aluminum intake much like yours. With just a gasket hot restarts were difficult due to the fuel boiling out of the carb. I added a 1/8 inch teflon gasket and the problem went away completely. Mark

RE: home made wing tube sleeve?
I wrap the tube with wax paper. Two wraps is enough. I tape the ends to the tube. Then wet out the glass and wrap aroung the tube/wax paper. I then take a two inch wide strip of vacuum bag material and spiral wrap the glass. Tape one end to the tube and wrap tightly to the other end and tape to the tube. After you wet out the glass use paper towels to soak out all the extra resin. keep removing resin until the towels come away dry. I fold a section of paper towel in half and press it on the wet glass. Mark

RE: I want a Schneider cup racer 60 size
It flew really well. We had to put some new diagphrams in the carb after setting for all those years then the trusty Zenoah fired right up. I cant wait to see it on floats. Is your club still working on the Maytown float fly?

Allan Funny that this thread popped up. I helped Dan get his SS 320 in the air yesterday. Now he is going to put the floats back on. Mark

RE: Sachs 4.2 Prop?
That will be more than enough power. Some 1/3 cubs suggest an 80 twin for balance reasons. Mine flys more than scale with a 65cc four stroke. I would try a 24x10 for a prop on the 4.2

A wrap around DA header only requires you to elongate the mounting holes a little with a dremel. Then it will bolt right up. Mark

RE: World Models 1/3 Super Cub
A da 50 would fly this plane in a scale fashion. However would be limited if you wanted to put it on floats. And would require alot of nose weight, I would guess 1.5 lbsor so.

RE: 1/3 Scale J3 Cub - Engine Recomendation
Mine was purchased new as a short block. It is a replacement engine for a back pack blower. It has quite a bit of time on it now and I am very happy with it. Even on floats at about 30 pounds it has plenty of power.

RE: World Models 1/3 Super Cub
I asked this same prop question last summer. Some one at RCU suggested to go to a craft store that carries stained glass supplies. They have copper tape that is sticky backed. I put it around the leading edge of my wood prop from the tip in about two inches. I made several flights and saw no damage. I found it at Michels. Mark
