RE: KARBONITE GEARS
ORIGINAL: jerrysu29 My posts were meant for the same FYI for extreme cold weather flying. I would gladly trade places with ya during the winter months for flying.
I've used the Karbonite geared Hitec servos for several years with no problems. They are in multiple 60 to 120 sized planes. I guess it is good to know that I should not fly them in cold weather. However, I've been in Florida so long I've forgotten what time of year is that[:D][:D] I know, I know, someone will say its when the hurricanes go away[:)][:)]

Why not go this route, it is the same plane? https://www.homeandhobbysolutions.com/Primus%20Details.htm I bought a horizontal and vertical stab from Jeff for my old Taurus. If you want a Taurus, this would be the way to go.

RE: covering for four star ARF
I recently had to recover a 4*120 arf and sig gave me an outfit in CA that sells a covering that is the same as their "aerokote." I'd give SIG a call. It is late and I don't have the info at my fingertips. If I find it, I'll PM you later. Now I remember. I think the name of the covering was Toughlon. Sig gave me a telephone number for an outfit in CA that sold the same stuff as Aerokote, they just called it Toughlon. Or maybe Sig just calls Toughlon Aerokote.

RE: YS 2 Strokes & After Run Oil
The castor oil used as after run oil is probably flushed out when the engine is running. I certainly don't have all the answers. I was just really surprised at how all the after run oil choices(except castor) bead up like water in oil when mixed with our glow fuels.

RE: YS 2 Strokes & After Run Oil
There have been discussions in several forums about the "better" after run oil. People use ATF, synthetics, etc. I do not wish to start an after run oil battle. Just an observation, though. Take a small container and put some of your fuel in the the container. Then put in the after run oil of your choosing. See if it separates like water and oil. If it does, is it really giving you much protection? After performing this test with several fuels and after run oils, I started using castor oil as my after run oil. Castor oil does not separate and leave areas where the fuel remains and areas where only the after run oil contacts the parts. Castor was the only one that mixed with the fuel. I generally put at least a tablespoon or two through the breather tube(where it blows the oil from the engine) with a syringe.

RE: Curare 40 original MK kit
ORIGINAL: richardgerardi Firts dumb question. The plan only has one wing. the right one how do you build the left wing? I was thinking that maybe to build the left wing on the plan and then flip over and it will fit fine? Am I correct? i will post pics once I get started. I had posted a thread amny months ago and some one asked that I make templates but I don't have the time and would really like to get this one going. Any suggestions on how to get the retratcts on and should it have flaps and air brakes aI see on the plan many things that I don't know if I like. It does not have a manual. Thanks for the help.
You could take it to a copy center(Kinkos, Office Depot, etc.) and I'll bet a reverse copy could be made.

RE: Atlanta 60 and Engine - HELP
ORIGINAL: Roguedog le fou, How bought this setup for the perry pump.
I don't think all that stuff will fit in the nose of an Atlanta. As Deadstik and I mentioned above, the centerlline of the fuel tank is at least two to three inches above the carb. The airplane was designed back when the YS61s and OS61s, both pumped, were in vogue. These engines can still occassionally be found here in the classifieds and on that other auction site.

RE: Spektrum not binding
Don't know a thing about the Futaba transmitter( I use JR and Spektrum) but I saw this question some time back. It had to do with the transmitter's PPM or PCM( or whatever) mode. Hope that helps. I'm sure someone who is familiar with those type modes will chime in soon. It might be your problem.

I've been following this thread as the A-7 interests me. I used to fly the real one in my younger days. Just curious if anyone has seen plans or a kit for one that might be more in the 70 inch wing span sizie? Maybe something for a 1.25 sized engine. Just curious.

RE: Setting up Flaps JR 9303
dspadler, I have the x9303 and it sounds as if you have the XP9303. They are identical(or nearly so) in programing. Go to page A-11(wing type) for instructions on setting up your ailerons using one channel and a y-harness. Then go to page A-25(flap sys) to program your flaps. This is certainly not presume that you have not done this, but after more than two years using the X9303, I still start at the first page of the manual for my plane setups. I just go page by page. There are so many little things(inhibits, etc.) that must be accomplished that I never just do it from memory. Good Luck

GOOD SOURCE FOR 12V POWER SUPPLY
My 120vac to 12vdc 12 amp power supply just died. I'm sure a new one would probably be cheaper than repairing the old one. Would like suggestions for a good price to value source to buy a new one. Thanks

RE: covering question - yet another
If this is a kit built plane and if it has a solid balsa wing tip that is sanded to shape, I do the following to make the covering job easier. I will shape and taper the wing tip block but do not taper the wing tip block to a point. I leave the tip flat. Then after the lower and upper covering is applied, I will make an appropriately sized air foil shaped trim piece to go on the wing tip covering any irregularities where the wing covering was trimmed. Another tip, UltraCote will make wing tips much easier than Monokote.

Now that you mention the computer power supply, I have one that I stopped using when I bought from a friend the one that just died. I still would like to find a source for a dedicated 120vac to 12vdc power supply. But thanks for the imput. I will get my computer power supply down from storage until I can replace the dead one.

RE: Breakin of my new Saito 125
I have a Saito 125 that has many hours and gallons through it. It does vibrate more than some other comparable engines. It is a lighter weight engine for comparable displacement. As mentioned above, after several hours tune it as you would any glow engine(low end lean enough to accelerate and not die and an rpm increase at idle if the fuel line is pinched). It will then get smoother. I use a castor oil blend in my 125 and the outside of my muffler is fairly black from the burned oil.

RE: Channel Sharing with Battery
If the battery slot is labeled something like "batt/7" then you can use a y on any channel. I use JR/Spektrm and those receivers have slots for all channels and then an extra one or two slots labeled "batt" But when I was using Futaba FP 127 DF 72Mhz receivers, connecting the battery with a y to any channel would work.
