RE: Flyeagle F18F
ORIGINAL: FELIrc Hello! F-18 drivers. I flew my f-18f 1/7 scale honeycomb version, this past Sunday. I am powering the jet with the new k-180 and running the engine with diesel. The jet flew well. Stable platform, no bad tendencies and plenty of power for scale flying. The only thing I had a problem with was with the flaps and mixing of the elevator. On the first flight after selecting the flaps down for landing the jet pitched down onto a 45 degree dive. I decided to retract the flaps and performed a no flap landing. The other two flight I flew the jet without flaps for t/o and landings. I will mix some up elevator for the next flight and see how that goes. Anyone here using up mix on the elevtor when the flaps are deployed? Thanks in advance!
I dont use the flaps if there is abit of wind i have mixed alittle up elivator when flaps are deployed but i need to take a little out as it dosnt want to come down but i havnt mixed alot i i will measure and let u know

RE: Flyeagle F18F
ORIGINAL: japan3d I have been emailing GJC about this aircraft, and he reccomended I start with Viper or Velox. I've been flying R/C for 37+ years, almost everything from 1/2A to 50% giants along with helicopters. Is this plane that difficult to fly? What are it's bad flying habits? Is 200+ feet of grass runway enough to takeoff and land? If I get it, it will be powered by KingTech 170-180.
I stoped flying jets for 4 years and i only did 3d planes and large petrol like carf 2.6 planes then i got this f18 it is so easy to fly It realy is easy people was telling me to get something else to get back into it aswell what a load of crap, yep in the turns u have to use alittle power my merlin 160 powers it great nice big loops if u want to go straight up to the stars put a 200 in it but u will have plenty power. people think u have to be special to fly, jets special needs more like sometimes the only problem i had there was no wind the one day and i used the flaps and it wouldnt come down but i have put more down in now and no problems

RE: Flyeagle F18F
I only use my flaps when there is no wind i have to put some down in or it just keeps floating on and on if there is a wind try it without flaps first then mix some in to your liking it will pitch up its best to put a little more down elevator in so when landing u are putting a little elevator up in instead of pushing down in to get it down on the ground .It will fly nice on that engine mine is alot heaver and still floats real nice flying plane

Just one of the takeoffs i had to take afew things out to keep it under 20kg waight here in the uk it come out at 19.8 lol but u have to add 5.5ltr of fuel to that.with the merlin 160 mark 3 that puts out nearly 40lb of thrust it fly's real nice http://youtu.be/0jSASy7VeOU

RE: 2.4 conversion confusion
I have been flying frsky 2.4 in 90mm edf's and models up to 50cc with not one problem.I was asked the other day if i would put it in my jets to be truthful i said why not i have had not one problem but they turned and said but its cheap .So the question was just because futaba and jr and all the others charge the eirth for things dose that make there stuff better. i have just ordered the frsky telemetry I havent put it in my jets yet because of the 8 channels but im going to put it in my composite arf p51 mustang i have got hitec servo's in it and i have a hitec programmer so i can alter the direction on the servo so Y leads can be used. but i still think just because u pay alot more money for the brand names it dosent make it any better

RE: Flyeagle F18F
I havnt had any problems with my gear i just took them apart and put some light silicon oil in them ,and they work ok. When i take off i have to retract straight away if not the air against the nose wheel stopes it from goin up but if u slow the plane down in flight and then retract it, that also works
