Moto-x, terribly sorry to hear about the accident. At least you're OK. Yeah, insurance companies don't want to pay you for the full amount of the vehicle contents, much less the labour you spent on your planes. We have a guy who had a garage fire a month ago and is still arguing with the insurance company about the pricing, including labour, of the planes in his garage. Take care.

I'll go with the masses on the shirts. I would like 2 tees in Lge if they aren't HANES. If they ARE Hanes, I would like them in XL (HANES shrinks too much). I would like two stickers, one green, one blue. #87. Thanks a lot for your efforts. Allen B.

Either shirt would be good for me. And a sticker. The RAF blue colour sounds like a good idea. A LG as long is the material would pre-shrunk. albsurfer #87 (Allen B.)

RE: Spitfire Brotherhood (All Spitfires Welcome)
I used a DS821 servo on them and just adjusted the linkage, and a little wire bending, until the servo didn't buzz. They were fine after that. On days when it's real calm out I like to use them because I've almost gone off the runway a couple of times without them. We have a 600' paved runway and high brush at both ends. You have trouble touching down some days within a 100' because we get thermals at the ends of the runway.

RE: Great Planes Extra 300 GP/EP
ORIGINAL: mach2 I looked into the rear of the fuse and didnt see any lead, but the belly of the plane was recovered because the original owner broke the landing gear out of it, so i guess it could be hidden. If not i just dont see why my plane is so tail heavy. Its flying good, but Id feel better if I had more power at this CG. The rudder servo is in the bottom rear, but I looked up the manual and thats the way it should be for the GP set up. Ive never used EP, but after looking at some videos on youtube of the Rimfire 80 that is recommended, that looks like a crazy powerhouse for this plane!!! EDIT - hey frankeldan, you are in the Revolver thread too arent you? Anyway, Yeah, sounds like that rimfire is the way to go for all out power. I kinda want to sell the 55ax i just put in it and try electric. I hate how you cant hear anything but the prop (and only when its pretty close), but wow, that motor has got juice! Do you know what batteries the guy was using? Im using a 12x5 apc at the moment because that's what the LHS had. I have a few xoars coming in a couple days from tower. Ive got some 12x4, 12x6, 12x8 and 13x4s coming. Ive got a couple 11x7s but im sure thats too small for it. Jeremy
As stated after this post, move your rudder servo to the tray for balance, but DON'T trade out the metal gear servo for a nylon gear. It isn't enough weight to worry about and if you bash the rudder, you'll run a risk of stripping / chipping a gear tooth or several. I started using MG servos on both rudder & elevator on aerobatic planes because I stripped a rudder servo when I was doing wild-a$$ stuff. When I landed, yes I saved it, the elevator hit and chipped two teeth on that servo. I changed both out to MG servos and haven't had any probs on any of my aerobatic planes since.
ORIGINAL: markhamregular <p class=''MsoNormal'' style=''MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt''><font face=''Calibri'' size=''3''>I have an H9 Spitfire 60. I have a problem with the flaps. They are under the wing and mine are a little hard so the servo is binding all the time. I am using a standard 3003 Futaba. Can I fix the problem by installing a high torque servo? Anyone having the same problem? <p class=''MsoNormal'' style=''MARGIN: 0in 0in 10pt''><font face=''Calibri'' size=''3''>Thanks,
markhamregular, what do you mean by "... a little hard..."? Do mean they are stiff? If so, is it because of the CA Hinges being stiff? What did you use to glue them in? Mine are OK, but if you try to extend the two flap arms full open as far as they will travel, it is difficult to get them to go to that position. The flap arms don't need to go full throw to work fine. If they are binding because the flap arms don't go full throw, you can cut a little balsa out of the wing in the arm slot for more travel. If you CA'd the hinges and they are binding, you may have to remove the CA from the bad flap and then re-glue it.

Your Spit looks great! I remember reading about PSS planes a couple of years ago. Pretty popular in the Mid-West even. I live 30 minutes from the Malibu Mountains in CA. Several of my flying buddies used to go there once a week in 2007-2009 to fly their gliders of various types, including Combat!! Two of them used the mock-jet fighters.

Count me into the Spitfire Brotherhood. I have a H9 MK II 60 size w/SAITO 100 & a MAS 14x8 SCIMITAR prop. My first MK II died during a low power take-off after about 23 flights. I just got the canopy to finish the rebuild of this great flying plane. I've been thinking of getting the Top Flite kit for quite a while, but I would have to mod it for either manual or electric retracts.

RE: Minnflyer (AKA Mike Buzzeo) has unexpectedly passed away
My condolences to Mike's family, friends, co-workers, and his fans. I've read many of his articles, how-to's, and e-mailed him for advice. He was very talented. His advice and skills were a big help to many of us RCU fans. He was only 2 years older than me. I also spent time in the Navy until a medical retirement. I can't say any better words about a fellow sailor' passing than donhef above. Salute...

RE: World Models or Airborne Models Tucano 60
I haven't finished it due to some family problems that came up. I worked on it day before yesterday, but the wood pieces I used started to splinter apart when I put in my blind nuts. It looked like they got crushed because they weren't wide enough either. The blind nuts didn't leave enough side space. I made two new rails out of 1/4" plywood x 1/2" wide and epoxied them in. The retract will stick out forward of the firewall. I'll make a couple of pictures after I put in the reinforcement wood on the rail sections forward of the firewall. I changed the motor mount to a DuBro Anti-vib mount like my buddy Phat did, so it only leaves about 1/2" from the motor mount to the rail to put the reinforcements in place. I will also add a couple of screws to hold the rails down to the firewall. The pics will show it clearly. I will then need to do something about modifying the wheel-well or replacing it with a full custom build from something. Take care.
ORIGINAL: kiosk
ORIGINAL: AreoFanatic seriously considering this extra since i crashed my AeroWorks Edge 540t. Would a .55AX be enough for good 3D flight though because thats what id have to put in it
i went electric with mine....love it, tons of power on 5-cell setup.....
kiosk, what was your setup on this plane? I had a GW 57" MX2 and used a Hacker A40-14s, 14x8.5 prop, ICE 75A, and a 5s5000mah lipo. Lively, but in verticals it was a bit heavy. I did 3d/IMAC/Freestyle with this setup. When I had the GP Extra 300S I had a .55AX in it. I've been considering going back to it.

RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
I've noticed more guys at our field buying the DLE20cc because of it's power & lighter weight than other gassers. The price is good, too. We had one guy using an OS 75AX, but he's switched to the DLE 20cc and seems to be happier, but he has it propped for speed more than aerobatic manoeuvers. It does make this plane pretty heavy in flight.

RE: AeroWorks Edge 540T 46-60?
I'm using a pair of 49 oz/in small servos on the rudder & elevator of my 3hds 47" extra 300shp. I haven't had any problems. I used the recommended HITECs and in a 12 mph gust, the rudder servo stripped when it hit the ground and the elevator servo failed in-flight causing the crash. The two SAVOX I have now are larger then the recommended, but they've taken 12-13 mph gusts 6 times now without a failure! The HITECS that failed were HS-65MG servos and I've lost 5 of them now, 3 without a rough landing or hitting the ground. I just lost a new HS-311 used for a throttle on a .46 size plane on the maiden flight! So... guess who's thinking of not using so many HITEC servos now. If I go for something really large, I would seriously look at SAVOX. I'm considering them right now for a .90 project I'm thinking of purchasing. Good luck.

It depends on the servo. In some, the gear setup is terrible to put together.
