RE: longer range with radio
I had just taken off when that pic was taken - that's where our AMA sanctioned park is located about 20 miles from an airport. I fly FPV elsewhere - at a place where a lot of us fly FPV and we're very safe - I think that you're just an idiot for taking two things that were said in different responses and a picture from my profile that was taken many months ago and mixing it all into like if it was the same thing.

RE: longer range with radio
you must be stupid or something. my airfield is close to an airport (about 15 or 20 miles) and the airplane you see on the picture is thousands of miles away. My airplane is flying like 200 feet of the ground when that picture was taken.! - let me introduce you to two words you've provably never heard of. Optical Illusion. There is always at least 1 or 2 AMA and park ranger at the public park where I fly and I always have one of them be my co-pilot. The day that I flew in the clouds was a rainy day and the clouds were very low, and I had two people spotting. You have no idea all the other things that I do for safety, so shut up I am provably a lot safer that you will ever be -

RE: longer range with radio
If I wanted to go to a nudist place, I'd just go to Haulover beach about 15 minutes from my house. Flight time is not an issue. I extended my flight to 32 minutes. As for distance I just came back from flying and doing some tests. I got t 892 meters in altitude. man...clouds are shaky inside! [:D]

RE: longer range with radio
oh my god....i tried so hard to keep it focused by not giving extra information and dumbing it down as much as possible, but it's just impossible. I have a UAV, in fact it's about the only type of flying I do, the other being banner towing. I know where to buy equipment to get long ranger range with my radio, and I am aware of what it takes. I just posted a simple question to see if anyone else has tried a CHEAP, super simple way of getting a little longer range. nothing fancy, or sophisticated, just simple DYI one hour project to maybe gain a couple hundred meters....trying to see if anyone has tried something. I am aware of the sophisticated expensive ways....you know what...Dude you have no idea what I do or who I am to say I have no business "attempting".... wow...i've never experience people like this in real life.!! amazing! - like it or not i fly my UAV 3 to 4 times a week. TO EVERYONE - if you don't know, or haven't tried anything, just don't respond...i am not interested in opinions or lessons of how RC works. Please just refer to the SIMPLE question. thank you

Hi Guys - Is there a simple way to get at least an extra mile using your radio? what if I make the receiver cable longer? if I make it twice as long? and for the radio if I attach a long cable on the antenna. any ideas

RE: lipo Batttery Mah or volt
I have a lipo charger and it's great. It tells me how many Mah it put in the battery while charging. But what I wanted to know was. Once the battery is fully charged. If I use it... let's say for 20 minutes, or 10 or whatever, how do I know how many Mahs were used. without having to charge it again.

My volt meter tells me the current voltage of my lipo, but is there a way to tell how charged or many Mah have been used after a flight.

also, I want to buy video glasses because flying using a tv is a pain and the tv has a lot of reflections on the field. Has anyone have any experience with the MYVU SHADES 301 VIDEO GLASSES FOR IPOD IPHONE - they seem to be the least expensive, but I want to get opinions before I get them

I want to do the same thing. JMSTECH, when will this be available? also, my current POV plane is a Hangar 9 Frenzy with an OS61. I love this set up because it has a lot of lift. I want to get a dome to put my camera in so that it is protected from the elements during flight. Any ideas?

RE: the better prop
Oh - the airplane is a Hangar 9 Frenzy - I had an OS 91 on it and it flew very well... but I am not interested in flying 3D I just want to do regular flying. I flew it yesterday with the .61 not knowing what to expect and I have to say...I like how it flies with the 61 better than the 91. She feels lighter in the air and more trainer like which is what I am looking for. I think she should handle the extra pound, I just wanted to know the best prop/engine combination for pulling the extra weight

the better prop
Hi - I have an two cycle OS .61 and I would like to know. What would be the best prop I can use to pull some extra weight in my plane? I am adding about 16 ounces of extra weight to my airplane and I want to get the best performance. Right now I am using an 11x7.5 prop, but I haven't added the extra weight. any thoughts or ideas? thanks

charging a lipo - volt high???????
Hi - I have a lipo 11.1v battery. When it's done charging its voltage reads 12.5volts. Is this normal? shouldn't it be only 11.1v? And more important, I have it in a Futaba 6EX radio. Is that extra volt going to kill my radio? thanks

RE: breaking the sound barrier
You can do all that, or you can skip so many steps by just getting a good FPV system and a remote control that goes 5 to 6 miles. - this part is actually easy to do. The hard part is building the plane/rocket system
ORIGINAL: kriegsmacht Ok here's what you do. First build the plane. It wouldn't look like a scale F-15 with missles and pilot figure, it would more resemble a round or oval fuselage cruise missle. Use carbon fiber tubes like the high power rocket guys. Long tube, thin wings, sharp nose, delta wing.. I dunno, whatever works best with supersonic airflow. Get an expert aerodynamic guy to tell you what would go out of control when it passes mach 1. Install the turbine engine system with the most thrust available. Or two, side by side. In between them, install one of those high impulse, high altitude rocketry engines, radio operated igniter of course. A radio communications system, so several people can listen and communicate voice on the same channel. A long, secluded, wide open, unpopulated area. 3 or 4 seasoned RC turbine pilots. 3 identical computerized radio control transmitters , 72mhz PCM, all set up and programmed the same and on the same channel. And here we go... Space out the pilots 1 mile apart with a caller between each pilot. The PCM will use failsafe and will be set to leave all controls at position of last good signal. Pilot 1 takes the plane off flies it upwind and high till its pretty small, then turns downwind and kicks it in the guts. Full power and a nice dive. As he passes himself he levels the plane and lets it continue to fly wide open. When it passes over the position of the first caller, he gives a signal. At that time, pilot 1 switches off his radio and pilot 2 switches his on. The radio will lockout and maintain current everything, for a brief second until it immediatly sees good signal from pilot 2 who, after having control, clicks on the rocket engine. It is during the control of this pilot, it should go supersonic. Pilot 2 maintains a straight and level heading, and the next tradeoff is made in the same manner to pilot 3. The rocket motor will have burned out, and it is up to pilot 3 to get the plane into a climb or turn or whatever to slow it down and land. This is sort of odd for beginners forum, but it's sort of "what if" anyways, and all in fun.
RE: lipo battery question
awesome! ok I got it. I always like to overkill everything that I do - it makes me feel safe and it allows me to push the envelop, which is why I like this hobby so much. If I never pushed the envelop, I would have never crashed an airplane :-) thanks guys for all your help. I think that weight is not going to be an issue with the airplane that I am flying this system in because of the wing span and lift to weight ratio.

RE: lipo battery question
it's not an airplane it's a video transmitter. so my battery should be good for it rihgt? since I can discharge at 17amps and I am only consumming .4 amps. I am confused with one thing. why do you say "If that system pulls that little I doubt anyone will want to fly her with a 2,200 mAh pack, assuming its a plane." the way i understand it is that I am only pulling .4amps and the max I can pull is 17amps which should be more than sufficient. If not, then I am still confused about the meaning of C rating

yup - it actually works fine with the field battery. But now I have another question about this charger. I charged the battery for 5 minutes. Then for 50 minutes. Does this charger know when the battery hits the 2200ma.? does is the "kill switch" set up for when it hits the limit on that particular charge?
