RE: Edge 540 30CC
Let me try again. Do all the the contol surfaces move the same amount for the same amount of servo movemnt? Are the linkage from the servo to the control surface all identical in length? Are all the servos at zero when the control surface is at zero? Subtile difference her can result in differnt amounts of movement of the plane , even when you flying straight and level. This may not always show up in manuvers because the torque of the engine may nulify it. Another point my AW edge 540 has the engine offset built in , it is quite visible and very apparent on take off. I am assuming this is true for yours too? How about my the battery - 6 volts ? Have you tested it under a load? Another point to check . Is it ballanced? did you use the balance device that came with it? That is only a good starting point, the balance should be validated by testing in flight. Have you ever flown a plane that is overly tail heavy? It can be all over the sky .

RE: Edge 540 30CC
Curious. 1) Is it trimmed correctly? Are all the wings and contol surfaces at the correct icidence? 2) What led you to think it was the operation of the rudder servo? ( other then failure to return to zero) What happened when it was replaced? Did the original servo peform ( move) erraticially ? 3) Is the geometry in all the servo linkages to the control surface all the same ? All zero servo deflection at zero control surface deflection? 4) Just a thought - did you check all the connectors to the new rudder servo for intermittent shorts under load and with the engine running. ( Including the one inthe Rx.) Another "shot in the dark" try activating the rudder while using all the other servos at the same time. This loads up the voltage draw on the battery. If the battery cannot handle it sometimes one ot two servos will get jittery. Think about that in a banked turn - all servos are asking for current( Ailerons , elevator , throttle and RUDDER). I assume you are using a 6 volt battery. 5) Are the control throws ( servo travel) setting in the Tx the same for both left and right?

RE: Spektrum not working after bind
I had an intermittent short in the port that the satellite rx connected to. Lost bind several times on the ground and could not figure out why. Tx work well with other Rx's. I just started replacing everything I could until problem stopped. Even an Rx with two sat ports will unbind if one sponatieously disconnects. I found that the wire from the sats vibrated quite a bit thus could have caused the port or the connector to loosen or become unstable. I have seen connectors come apart in old servo wires . The result is usually intermittent servo opeartion or jerky movement of the servo. The problem was in the connector in the wire from the sat rx. I found other wire that had suspect connectors and I replaced all them as well. This wires ,it seems do suffer fatigue and the connectors come apart.( Maybe from repeatedt vibration) One more note I recomend that people stay away from the oem Sat rx's from the far east. The are orange . They bind and seem compatable functionally but I not seen one that will range check more than ten feet. You save a few bucks but you can lose a plane.

RE: DLE 30 replacement carb
I have 2 DLE 30's . One runs great . The other has all the symptoms of the carb probs discussed above. Is it better to replace the carb with a DLE carb or a Walbro? An if the Walbro which one? Thank you

RE: DLE 30 Breaking Up-Help
DaleD What is good releiable test to determine if engine is broken in? Second , my DLE manual say low End at 1.1 and High End at 1.5 to 2.0. What gives for the 1.5 for both? Third I have DLE 30 that requires a 4 minute on the ground warm up before it willl not stop at full throttle under a load ( like in the air) . Once it is warm it runs like a charm. Could the long warm up time be a too rich or too lean condition on the HE needle? Once warmed up engine stumbles when HE is richened.

Try using a Igition BEC (like TecAero for one) it completey isolates the igntion from everything else. Bullit proof. Problem solved.

You might want to write to them and ask them for assistence. Somebody in the DC area could take the pictures for you. Good luck. The P61 was first amercian plane with onboard air intecept radar . (It was a briilant design and implementaion by a real american genius - Jack Northrup) I think the brits had on board radar ( for navagation only) before us , maybe the germans as well.

You get what you pay for . I have both . The O.S. will run longer and better than the magnum. Curiously the Manum looks like a bolt for bolt copy of the older OS models - maybe yes maybe no. But if true the it is older technology.

RE: SIG 4*120 ARF
I have two Sig 4* 120 arfs ( and have had one that has crashed. Another was bought as a source for parts for the flyer.). I love them . They are wondeful planes. Fly like a dream. I used to have a OS 120 four stroke in it .But when I put a saito 120 FS in it it and it came alive. IMHO the planes needs and can easily handle the extra power. I have 2 DLE 20 and two DLE 30s. The 20 is less powerful that my OS 120 FS. An OS 90 four stroke is roughly the sme power out put as a 2 stroke 60 and so the plane would be severly underpowered. It would fly , but not be as interesting and satistfing. I think would also be a step backward in performance. The installation should be no problem . The 20 is a beam mount engine and it should fit right nicely. Watch the balance very carefully and make sure to reinforce the firewall well . The arf version is not available any longer . I wish sig would sell it again and come out with a gas version. I will try to answer any additional question if I can.

RE: CMP Super Chipmunk 120 Landing Gear
My new wire is thicker than what seem to be able to see in yor photo. It also canted more forward. The center of the wheel should be just under the leading edge. If I had to gues I would say it is the original wire.

RE: CMP Super Chipmunk 120 Landing Gear
I have one also . I needed to open up the wings to make the block that LG wires go into longer. At the same time I installed thicker wire and robart struts ( which are fabulous). Both internal blocks went south , when I was taxing after smooth landing( or so I thought). Original blocks were .5 inch cubes if hardwood and the wires didn't even go al the way through them. I fly on very long ( 1300 ft) grass run way - very smooth as well. Mine flys so well I made the effort to repair. Work was not as hard or time consumming as I expected - now LG is essentially bullit proof.

RE: Let's talk DX18 here!
As soon as the jr users start to realize that ther new comunications protocal is not backwards compatable - they will all find a home a spectrum DMSS does not support anything but DMSS- nor DSM2 or DSMX . A new Tx will mean all new RX as well. That is a big hurdle to get over for not a lot of benefit I can see .

RE: AR9000 Blinking Light
Clean the contacts on a regular basis , at the annual tear done and prep for flying season at least. Replace the wires regularly. Connect and reconnect upon reoccurence of the this prob . Use multiple remotes. Have I missed any ? Also the main Rx will continue to work with a failed remote . How about an unbound remote? Degraded mode? I have a DSM2 rx ( main) which remote ( besides DSM2) will work with it?

RE: AR9000 Blinking Light
The problem is gone and I cannot recreate it. The remote module is back in its original port and is working fine . The idea of just a disconnect and reconnect seems to have done it. But then again maybe not - maybe I just jiggled a wire with an internal short or something is loose in the connectors. In net the enitire rx works correctly no matter what port the remote is plugged into. As barracua hockey suggested. Now I wonder if it was just the plugging and unplugging or do I have a break (intermitent ) in the connnectors or the wires. Will using two remotes in a 9 channel rx help ? would it reduce the liklyhood of anyhting such as this happen again? If one remote does not connect correctly will the entire RX combo still function? Ok here is what I am goign to do - anybody with a thought pls don;t hold back . I am going to replace the wires with new ones , this should eliminate wires as problem. I am also going to make sure the wires to the remotes are loose and free to move so they don't have to absorb the vibrations internally. I am going to use 2 remotes ( all new 9 ch rxs ) are being shipped with two remotes. If this occurs again I going to switch the connectors the remotes are connected to and see what happens . ( as per barracudahockey) If that does not work it all goes back HH.

RE: AR9000 Blinking Light
"Break inside the insulation" Unbeleviable , but makes sense. Especial after handling and operation in high vibration environment. And no real efective way to test if short is intermitent. I had no idea this could have been a problem. And if sent in for repair it may not have shown up. The connectors are similar in design to servo connectors and they are the first place I look when I have intermitent servo problems. The are frequently the problem. Also this kind of failure spoofed the rx into thinking it was in bind mode( althought it would not bind ). I wonder if JR/Spectrum know this? I wonder what they would say ? This could be a warning siuation - flashing without the bind plug in place? Anyway think you for your answer - I never would have thought of that . But going forward I am going to check those wires and connectors ( as best I can - broken inside the insulation is going to to tough to test for). I think I will just keep backup wires and if it happens again I will replace and see if that's the fix. Thanks again.

RE: AR9000 Blinking Light
Interesting. I just went out and moved the satelite to the other port on the RX. It is no longer flashing and it binds instantly. No rebind required. How did you discover this and do you know why it works?

AR9000 Blinking Light
I have an AR9000 that drops the binding and goes into binding mode( Rapid flashing lights) without the binding plug being in it. The occurs upon Rx powering up with the Tx on. When I then put the binding plug in it , the flashing again resumes and I can bind normal. The first connection with the tx after this binding process( Plug is now out) is normal and very fast. The second attempt to connect , after both rx and Tx powered down does not work and the Rx resumes rapid flashing. Once bond I never lost the connection with over four years of use . This flashing business only started today . The rx will not bind ( even when rapidly flashing ) without the bind plug in place. So I am guess even though it is flashing ( without the plug ) it is not really in bind mode. Only the presence of the plug will cause it to bind . Any ideas or suggestion before I send it to HH. Thanks.

RE: DLE 15cc?
A 20 cc DLE is really as powerful as 90 FS glow engine. Not more as some claim. But the weight difference makes the glow engine a better "performer". The glow engine is lighter. But still , why would DLE market a 15 when they are selling a 20 as fast as they can make them. It is not going to be better in any way, plus less powerfull and a poor performer ( weight). Same goes for a 35 , when they are selling a very good 30?
