Twomanytoys if you have a fuel filter, you shoud clean it out. I saw a ton of crap inside my fuel filter. Soooo simple things you could really over look.

RE: VX .18 overheating problems. Anyone?
Yeah. My egine is always overheating and leaking so I am going to seal my entire egine and carb with some RTV(red sillicone). Oh yeah can you use RTV red sillicone on the cooling head as a gasket sealer? I was thinking about my fuel tank was it, but i flipped it upside down and nothing leaked out of there, unless it is clogged. Hmmmm. Good ideas I guess. The only thing is that I had my volcano for a long time about two gallons through it and now it starts to overheat! But we'll see.

RE: Problem with OWB.
Thank you Ehoof. Atleast I know it's not my OWB makeing my egine hot. I think the leaking fuel causes my egine to get hot, very hot because air is getting into my egine. But I think I am going to seal every part of my egine up today. Thank you once again Ehoof you are very helpful.

RE: Problem with OWB.
yeah. I did just that Clermont. I put new RTV(RED sillicone gasket sealer) now There is no air leaks since I can hear swishing noises comming out of my carb. which means my motor is only getting air from the carb and no were else. Well the gasket sealer for the back plate sucks, it really doesnt seal. Oh yeah does anyone have a picture of the right way to put on the OWB. I am second guessing my self?! Clermont or ehoof or anybody could post pic showing right way to put on OWB for Vertex .18 stock volcano sv egine. Thx for all your help and advice.

Wait. I think that could be it, just missed ur post about the oring on the back plate. That sounds like a good idea since there is a mighty ocean on my volcan sv. Ehoof helped me fixed the first leak now its leaking somewere else!

RE: Problem with OWB.
Well see I put it on both ways and they both start the motor and MY OWB is not broken. It stops one side from turning back. Because the motor has more than enough torque to go against the OWB thus causing Extra heat that i do not need. Just got to be for sure though.

Yeah my egine is new. I cleaned out the carb before and found nothing. My problem started when I took apart the Pull start and took a educated guess on how the OWB goes on. If any could post pictures show how it goes on that would be helpful.

Ok. Now I have made my decision. It will be the Hurricane XP pro because I like shinny aluminum parts. Thank you all for your $0.02.

Problem with OWB.
I took apart my Pull start many times and managed(I think) putting my OWB on the right way. The reason why I say I have a problem is that my egine gets hot whenever I run it normally. All my needles are very rich. Highspeed needle is at 4 turns up and my Low speedneedle is up all the way to a point were I can barely keep it running. And my tempature is around 40 American degrees outside. And my egine still runs VERY hot. My egine is a stock egine on the volcano SV.

Need help deciding Avalanch or Hurricane!
Ok. I am almost to a point were I have enough money to buy me another nitro. This time a 1/8 scale. I was wondering which one out of the two are good the hurricane XP PRO or the Avalanch. Just need some input before I buy again. Since when I bought my Volcano SV on ebay and did more research I found the Volcano SV PRO!! Which got me angry. Anyways I would apprciate any input.

KK. Maybe 1/8 of a turn towards richer on low speed and hi speed needles. I'll try that.

RE: pull start problems
Ok. It starts on the second or third pull when is cold. And when its warm the compression does feel a bit softer and it starts on like the 12th pull. I think its not running hot. I have the HSN and 3 turns open from close setting and the lowspeedneedle flush with the collar. Dont have a thermometer(too expensive). And I did the spit test you were talking about. When I have the egine reving at full throtle to medium throttle at 10mins the spit sizzles less than a second. But idle at 5 mins it evaporates slowly. I think it may be my driving skills or up the needle on the lowspeed and hispeed.

RE: pull start problems
ehoof. I think I have the same problem with my pull start. Ok here it goes. When my car gets cleaned out and put in garage for the night. Then the next day I can start it on like the Second pull. Then I run it a bit until tank runs out of fuel. I put more fuel while the egines off, then I try to pull and it wont start on the thirs or fifth pull, I have to to pull like 12 times to get it started. I've primed it the same way 15mins ago and its not flooded. It just feels looser then the first time I started it 15mins ago. Would it be because of the hot egine parts expanding and I lost compression and have to wait for it to cool down. Or I have to scuff up the OWB a little since after run oil gives the egine a little restiance.

You could look on e-bay for Traxxas T-Max 3.3 Shocks that are aluminum and are around the $50 price range. Also these arn't aluminum but this is a full set of 8 shocks for $19. http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Traxxas-Tmaxx-3-3-2-5-complete-set-of-shocks_W0QQitemZ190138593566QQihZ009QQcategoryZ44028QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

RE: Condom and apply, anti-water
Well. A condom? I drive my volcano through some big puddles and nothing in the receiver casing ever gets wet becaue its sealed were the servo wires come into the receiver casing with some gasket sealer. Is there anyway to protect the servos or are they already water tight? It does look a little weird with a condom in the receier casing. Go to the track or racing in front of a crowd and you need to check the receiver or batteries and you pop out a condom lol.

Redcat Volcano compatiable parts
I have done some digging and these are the parts that I could find that are compatiable so far with the volcanos. Parts Compatiable with volcano: -traxxas #4146x use clutch spring not shoes - duratrax lightened and vented purple flywheel #DTXC7703 - hotbodies purple t-maxx shocks #25000 -hpi 2.2 spike rims with proline masher 2000 tires - hpi 5 spoke rim#2160 , any 2.2 tires will fit on rim -glow plug os a3#71605300 -exhaust manifold HPI Aluminum Exhaust Header Nitro 3#86037 -duratrax #dtxc7703 lightened and vented purple flywheel -DuraTrax Flywheel Lightened & Vented Blue NEVST #DTXC7702 -HPI Teflon Clutch Shoe Set #A886 -Traxxas T-MAXX 3.3 Shocks -HPI vented Clutchbell 17tooth with bearings -new transmission with steel clutch bell:http://www.clermontmotorsports.com/servlet/the-226/clutchbell-and-diff-kit/Detail - 18 tooth hpi clutchbell -HPI 44T spur gear part #A444(a little modifying needed) -sh .18 or os cvrx egines Ok. Thats what I found so far. But if anyone could give more compatiable parts with the volcano, that would be great. PS: Does anyone know if you could put a super charger/Turbo on the volcano sv? Is it natural for a Nitro rc truck to leak alot of fuel onto the chasis, carburator, pull start? I know theres no holes inside my fuel line or fuel tank. I think it could be coming out of carberator. Any ideas? Sponsored: BY ME.

RE: Motor problem, need help
Oh yeah. If your going to take apart the pull start watch out for the recoil spring. It might pop out on you. And its not really that difficult to rewind the spring. Here is a link that teaches how to fix pull start mechanism: http://www.dg-rc.co.uk/catalog/nitro_pull_starter.php While you're in there clean the OWB with some break clean. And re-oil it. I use WD-40 if you dont have that you could use that mystery oil or 3in-1 oil. Also the compression problem maybe the cooling head or the glow plug not being tight enough. So take a look at that also. Good luck.

RE: Redcat Volcano compatiable parts
Ehoof what would be a good egine to replace on the volcano sv? I am reading about the O.S. egines are they a direct fit onto the volcano sv? Also there are many types of O.S. .18 egines. I see one with a turbo and it seems like a not bad of a deal.

yeah. Finally found the problem. I looked at the fuel nipple and along side the fueline there was a tiny nitch. put water in the fuel line and watched it leaked out. It wasnt much to catch my attetion. But found it! YAY! No more oceans on my volcano. Thx. I thought I did a good check on my fuel line but didnt see that little nitch by the HSN fuel nipple.

RE: Motor problem, need help
Yeah. same here with my volcano. Like when u pull the pull start it feels a little softer to the pull?It could be something wrong with your pullstart mechanism. It could be your OWB might be a little oily or gunk in it? Or your glow plug is not inserted correctly and you crossed threaded it thus messing up the entire egine(doubt it). But if your going to get a new glow plug go with the os a3 if you have a .18 egine. Also EHOOF I did tightend the cooling head and it still leaks. Under the cooling head is there suppose to be a gasket?
