RE: TBM DV8R anyone have one or about too?
Hi, to all DV8R owners and admirers. I must have seen most of the videos on you tube. Some are good and some need a better camera, cameraman or woman. Well in my quest for new DV8R videos I found a new one, though not actually a DV8R video per say, it has the DV8R in it. Staring Mr.John Redman, it is a horizon hobby production about proper placement of the JR/Spectrum DSM remote Rxs (very interesting even though i am a futaba sort of guy). Most of the DV8R videos I have seen have the Tiger meat one. One has the russian red. and two have the Australian blue. I have yet to see the sport (red). Then there are the kit DV8R videos with custom colors and schemes. This new video has a white thunderbirds color scheme and what looks to me as the robart landing gear. I am most interested in DV8R landings and this video really shows how nice this dream machine lands, just floats right down. Great camera angle and cameraperson. Here is the link.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXFfJUGUH_U.

RE: Wingtip repair advice needed
For damage like that. i would clean and sand the wingtip and go with some shaped balsa or light ply and tack in place with thick CA , then reglass the wingtip, sand again fill any gaps with bondo and repaint. There, nothing to it. I currently have the DV8R in my workroom but i think i can make some more space... hey airbus send it to me! I charge a flat rate and for materials used.

RE: TBM DV8R anyone have one or about too?
I am so happy i got the last one in tiger meet colors. Putting it together now. When I first saw it on the TBM website I wanted one. After reading up on it many people said how good a flyer it is, I ordered one. Now seeing it live, I think it looks great ! Very big and sturdy. That twin rudder sure looks the buisness, giving it that F-18 look. Lots of slot hinges to cut, 84 to be exact. thats for the control surfaces as well as the wings, elevator stabs and twin rudders. If i would have known how much time it would take just for the hing slots, I would have gone with the robart pin hinges. I used 4 x 2rudders, 5 x 2elevators, 6 for each flap and aileron. I used hysol and I am sure that they are never going to work there way out. I decided to make it a three part wing so as to remove only the wing tips for transport. I called TBM and I was told they are going to continue to offer the DV8R and they are expecting a shippment in a few months.

I saw the live webcast. Wow what a plane[:D]. And a big shout out to Joe Sutter who was the chief engineer of the original 747-100 40 years ago and is known as the "father of the 747". He was at the unveiling. He must have been very proud to see his baby grow up[8D] bigger and better then ever.

RE: good ol cyprus...
it was open day at the field 10/09/2010, lots of people were there and of course the jet flyers. the weather is always nice here in cyprus. some pics that i resized (more to follow) we start with some rc universe favorites i.e cairoman, jascat100. jascats boomerang sprint with new (from jetpower) merlin 90 jets-munt. meli's boomerang nano powered by wren supersport, and another almost identical nano with a jetcat p-60 kerostart by non other than cairoman. the guy in the white van is the BIG CHEESE mario. he and his partner george coughed up the $$$$$$ and built our brand new model flying field complete with paved runway and markings, seperate heli area, clubhouse with kitchen (cold/hot drinks, food, snacks) and of course maybe the most important .... toilets(for both men and women)

RE: ATJ Turbines
I own an ATJ-120ti and have put it through its paces on the bench, so far 15 starts. performs well..... starts first time every time, egt seems within parameters, performs as per specs (123,000 rpm at full throttle). throttle acceleration, engine shutdown and cooling seems fine.

RE: JETJOE
I order from jetjoe, no problem at all. ship with ems and at my door within 2 weeks. a balancer was ordered but no manual so i e-mail jj 3pm my time and sure enough they send manual via e-mail attachment 9pm my time wich is well past working hours in china they must have somone working the red eye shift[:)]. they are well priced and work (cant say for sure if they use proper metals i.e inconel and good steel, they say they do????). when ordering do provide all the info. i called them once, i admit my chineese is bad and there english is bad but use slow and simple speech like.... how many dollar for_____. or.... how much cost shipping? everybody in the world understand dollar or euro. i will admit i have seen my share of jj-1400 and jj-1200 and i witness 3 times when problems arose. all involved the falcon 120 conversion. first time was back in march when during taxi flames started shooting out the bach almost burnt the elevator.... after engine was taken apart (right there at the field) problem was a hairline crack or fracture at the back of the combustion chamber i saw it, was repaired later with small spot weld and engine fired up again. the next time same problem during takoff roll (another falcon 120 with different jj-1400) it made a noise poof...puff...poof...ect. yes combustion chamber again !!! (makes one think if they make it out of bamboo) and the third mishap i saw engine shut off in flight, falcon glide in for a safe landing, the fuel pump was to blame, it was the jj version not the new flight works. every so often check the combustion chamber and use a good fuel pump. as far as the balancer well its simple only detects vibration. if anyone has one and needs the manual i will be happy to e-mail it
