RE: Fuel on ply...how to remove before covering?
Epoxy won't adhere to oily (fuel soaked) surfaces. If it is available in your state, look for a spray spot remover called KR2. It sprays on and turns to a powder that absorbs oil and fuel. It may take a couple of applications to get the area dry enough to apply one or two coats of balsarite sealer, then you can cover with some success. If you can't get KR2 try using some acetone to float the oily stuff to the surface and blot with paper towels......Both have worked for me, but KR2 is not "green" enough to be sold on the left coast...

RE: UPS SHIPPING WARNING ALL SHOULD READ!!!!
Contact your state consumer advocate and file a complaint with them.. Had a problem with J.C. Whitney and an unauthoized charge that they refused to refund. Found that they had the same complaint in a number of states. State contacted them and I got my refund fast. Most small claims courts do not allow lawyers for either party so I have been told.

RE: Clear? What type
Have a friend that builds and competes in Scale Master and that is what he uses. I found Dupli-color engine enamel clear worked for me a t about $4.00 a 12 ounce spray can. Might want to check it on a sample to see if it is compatalbe with your paint first. It is fuel, oil, and heat resistant.

Cyclic... I belive there are a lot of Europeans living over there....[;)] My wife spent about 12 days in Italy last year, and found out the best thing to do is use your ATM card to get cash as you need it. If you can, use a credit card for purchases because you will get the best exchange rate at that particular time. Have a good trip...

RE: Breaking News
Keep hearing (hereing?) newsfolk using the word "nother". I looked in my aged dictionary and can't find it... Do they mayhaps mean another or other ? How about read, ried, reed for a threesome? As to spelling, my fingers are worse spellers than I. Or maybe they can't read the keyboard....

RE: Transfering plans to balsa
The 3M 77 is a good choice, they make a low tack spray to be used on the back of the paper, then stick to the balsa, easily removed with little residue. Any art supply would have it and it comes in small size that will last a long...long time.

ARF fuel tank...use or not?
Succombed to the cheap price for a H-9 ripoff P-51 about a year ago and have been pretty happy with the plane. I use it to "ease the tensions" so if I prang it , no big loss. Learning a lot of high speed stuff I wouldn't try with a more expensive plane. I digress...about the fuel tank. I have heard more than a few say to junk the tank from the get go, others say to replace the stopper and use the tank, well I have not had a problem with any ARF fuel tank until now, and I haven't seen anything like this before. Flying the P-51 today I noticed fuel leaking from the leading edge of the wing, and I removed the wing and tank as I thought the stopper was loose or the tank cracked, and this is what I found [X(]. The plastic plate in the tank seems to have had somewhat of a bad reaction to glow fuel.[:o] Plane has been stored with an empty tank for a few months so it hasn't been fuel soaked, but that wouldn't matter. Point of this rambling...check those tanks and hardware carfefully before use........[sm=wink_smile.gif]

RE: Biplane CG - please help
I assume that both wings are straight (no sweep back). If the cord was 10" and the offset is 1 inch, that would make the total chord 11". The approx 1/3 of chord would be about 3 5/8 inch, from leading edge of top wing, balance under the top wing. That's my guess

RE: After run oil??
Old scale guy..Morgan Fuels (Cool Power and Omega) say right on the bottle and at thier web site "do not use after run oil" they have an additive to keep engine from rusting and thier fuels do not react well to petroleum based oil. Drain tank and run engine dry is a good idea though perhaps rather than pinch fuel line, just remove from needle valve the start engine and run dry.. I have never used after run oil and as of yet had no problem with rust or corrosion..
