RE: WH Slick 540
woot. welcome to electric 1. dont fear the batts. yeah they can bite but follow charger instructions and battery instructions and keep an eye on them while charging and things will be good one thing i wish someone would have told me when i got my very first electric and smoked it in the air and watched it come in fast. fudge the numbers to the safe side on your motor and esc, run a timer so your plane can get back, learn battery c ratings and you will have tons of flights out of it if i may suggest. pick up a second battery so you wont feal the temptations to bump the c charge rating up while charging (sure way to mess up batts). that way you can have one charging while your flying

RE: Would you pay $78.00 a year for AMA if they offered PRIMARY insurance?
i voted yes. right now i have insurance through my own insurance company and AMA (my ama was to participate in our ama field and the ability to travel and fly at other fields) i think what ever primary policy could be provided i think a substantial deductible should be required enough that someone would not be able to justify wiping out their moderate priced plane for the sake of an insurance policy to get a new plane in my case which is not everyone else's case, i would think 400-500 would be a fair deductible (due to me only having 2 of my 6 planes and 2 helis that exceed that price and i cherish them enough to not write them off.

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
ORIGINAL: EddieDean What is everyone using for a SD-10G transmitter case? The manuel says the 978411 aluminum carrying case but all the pictures show it holding the M11 TX. EddieDean
im using the 2 tx sized case from tower hobbies but only keep 1 tx in it. i made a little compartment on the "empty" side to keep my ama card, tx strap, screw driver and wrench for my electric flying times the foam is cut type for making custom size but it is falling apart more then i want. i tend to be padding my tx with wash cloths from one of those 3 dollar packs of wash cloths from walmart the "grain" on the case is bumpy like a golf ball so my "cool point" stickers end up getting a little ca on them to keep them on

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
got the email of the manual shipped with tracking order man oh man i really think airtronics did good with this fielding of a new tx got it out to us to use, provided a get started portion with the tx, provided online manuals AND now sending the manual was speaking with a friend who use the red shirt brand. all he got was a cd........ good job with this fielding oh i love the tx. only two little irritants which aint bad at all. wish i had a bigger easier timer to see (it seams smaller then the timer on my rds8000) i dont dare look for the timer while flying my 130 mph ritewing all those switches. its not the tx fault its a peeve. i just have never used so many switches and i get lost staring at numbers instead of "hey you dork flip this one" labels

RE: Request for a review of several radio systems or best bang for my buck.
for the price i think the rds is the best value (unless you go used and get hobby city assan modules) of course im tainted. i fly atx. but at the time when i went to 2.4 the 2 rx plus the tx for 220 bucks. cant beat it. and the rx are a tad cheaper then the other two big radio manufactures as for fealing like a toy i cant argue that one but for the price... dont transport it and leave it out or treat it like a toy to counter the feal of being made cheap?

RE: Return to flying-radio input: Airtronics RDS8000, Futaba 7C or Spektrum DX7
i voted the rds. i have two rds8000 and a sd10 that arrived this week i originally had the dx7 but for changing over at the time. i think it was the fact of the price for additional receivers and so forth along with daring to be differant. (im the only constant flyer at our field flying atx) along with bad customer support experience with horizon i had. after the change, im glad. programming has been very easy for me on the rds along with having 6 receivers for the price (i took advantage of a second tx plus 2 rx offer. the price was just to simple to ignore getting a back up tx) as for progression. i have 6 receivers that can work with the sd10 and for 500 bucks if you ever expand.. the sd10 is a monster for the price as far as getting hit. we have a "dead zone" over a few palm trees at our field. i aint scared of it. have not got hit yet where others on the other brands have. can we prove its a true dead zone that hit certain manufactures there? no but i have no problem using the entire air field for flying where some will avoid that area

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
ok another question on this. i have several a123 2s packs i use in my larger planes. will it work? my thoughts are as follows resulting in a yes but safer to ask then to just jump a 2s a123 is 6.6 v the stock batt is a 6v batt? 2s lipo is 7.4? li ion is 7.4? ive never played with li ion. what chemistry is it charged with? i dont recall seeing li ion on my cellpro 4s oh mine isnt the multi 4 it is the generation before the multi 4

RE: MAN reports on Airtronics SD-10G 2.4Ghz radio system
hey all. im wanting to order a lipo what connection are you all using with the lipo conversions. will i be able to chop up one of my hitec servo extensions and use it or will i be able to whack a connector off my sanwa s8n-700 (stock rds8000 batt pack) and use that? i have the blue batt pack upgrade currently in my rds8000. guess if the connector is the same i can use it in the sd. that pack is doing good for me. but then something in me just wants to be the first to run lipo at our field. not enough im the only blue shirt in a sea of red at our field

what capacity lipo has people been using. any certain brand fits better then others? im getting close to pulling trigger on one and figured id go lipo with it instead of hassling with the smaller tx packs i have with my rds.

RE: Confirm this newbie's first-buys!
would like to share my opinion i started out with a kadet lt40 with a thunder tiger 46 year and a half ago the one thing i wished someone had presented to me prior to my starting so i could see and study and pursue..... electric (of course i got hit with the beggining joys of the hobby with sky rocketing nitro prices) as it stands now i have zero glow planes, have 2 gas planes (w.h. baby extra, pau edge) and 6 electric planes (3dhs velox, 2 bme yak, vec jet, rite wing, swift 2) i did start out with a simple tx (rd6000 used)) . but then i took advantage of the airtronics 200 dollar rds8000 with 2 rx its a 2.4 system for a fair price. just have to get servos you want. liked it enough to buy a second for a back up (hey it was 200 bucks) and upped my inventory of 2.4 receivers by taking advantage of the same 2 rx 1 tx deal gain
