RE: 1/2 wingspan regulations or is there?
Thanks guys, I myself have a very old and outdated ama rule book that I got back in the mid/late 90s. I just thought I would jump on here real fast to see what you all do. Modifying the rules a bit is what I assumed this gentleman was saying but giving me their modified version for there club specific events but didn't say that to me, just guessing from what I've read here. So I also assume to be an ama sanctioned event, we still have to abide to the ama rules? Again I thank you both for clearing some of this up. For now, we are in final stage of building them and gonna see what things need be done to satisfy our need for speed! Happy flying ya'll!

1/2 wingspan regulations or is there?
So my brother and I have been flying r/c for 20 plus years and have never really messed around with the little half a planes. We decide to build a couple and are thinking about competing at some different ama clubs around the greater Iowa area. I haven't been able to find anything in rules about wingspan and was told by one gentleman that they could only be a 28" wingspan and within certain weight requirements?? Is this true or just a club specific rule? Any info regarding half a regulations for competition, would be much appreciated ;) a

I am having the same issue/problem but with the nitro planes sr-71, spektrum dx7 and have it set up with elevon mixing but it is responding with aileron movements in either stick direction movements...up and down left or right? What am I doing wrong?

RE: Maxjet SR-71
Ok, first of all I have been flying r/c for over 23+ years just not electrics as I have just got into them recently with in the last year or two. And this isnt my actuall first twin as I have had several nitro twin engine planes over the years. Im just not use to all this electric stuff and is new to me in this fashion where as only having the two control surfaces....and Im sure I wont crash it. I have yet to crash ANY of my edf jets( hard landing or two maybe :) ) that I have yet to date and if I do, oh well. Thats part of this hobby, is it not? I just wanted to know what to do as far as setting up the control surfaces. elevon mix is what I was looking for and relized it after I had posted. Everything is working and fine. I do as most have my days and put to many hours over the shop table and my mind tends to quit working on me. Thats when I just need to walk away for a while and things usualy come back to me or I can usually figure it out. Thanks again a

Maxjet SR-71
I have the this plane set up with both esc's and servos ready to go and have yet to figure out how it's going to fly in regards to only having elevators/ailerons? How do you go about mixing the two or is there something else I am to do?? I am using a spektrum dx7 but I cant see where you can mix those two, rudd/ aile and elev/ flapp is all I see. this is my first twin set-up and first with only two control surfaces.... please help! RE: Jetmax SR-71 Brushless setup?
:) I have the Panther F9F 2, Great planes L39, and Exceed F-18 and have sucessfully flown them all..... with out failure. I have been in the hobby since my father put me on the sticks some 28 yrs ago so Im not completly illiterate :) I just dont have much to go from other than saying that it requires 2-40 amp esc's and 65mm brushless motors?? I need something a little better to go off of than that. Now if it was nitro.... I wouldnt be here asking. lol Thats all Im saying. just asking for a little help, hence the new to edf-electric thing, but not totaly new to the hobby.... I have read a few articles as well as a few forums that some guys are dumping quit a bit of money into these just to get them moving faster than the stock 40 mph that they came out with and from what they are saying, 500.00 bucks is how much they had to put into them to perform to there standards or to just to get it to fly and not stall out. Most of them were complaining that was way to much to be put into a foamy....well I still think it can be done for way less my self and want to try. I already have 85.00 in the plane + 80.00 in both esc's and 40.00 on a battery. So if I can do it for 300-350.00 then its a win for me. a

RE: LST2 Clutch Problems
I'll check it out, but I think it's ok. Never thought about that one though, full maxx, good call!. Once my stuff gets here and if all else fails.....I'll just rebuild the darn thing as it could probably use it! I have already replaced both diffs, braces, pins, engine, drive gears and now I might as well replace the tranny and slipper cage asembly too. But I will try it one more time for the sake of spending money and trying to help out the economy!!!! yeah!!!! Ya right.[;)] Thanks for the replys and help trying to solve this one. a

RE: LST2 Clutch Problems
I will replace the nut as soon as the slipper pads and a few other items I have ordered arrive. If this fails, I will replace the whole slipper assembly and start from there. I don't know what else to do as I have had really good performance from all of my Losi trucks, truggy and buggy's. I think that there drive train's are nothing short of exceptional and very easy to maintain..... So far this one has me stumped.[:@]

LST2 Clutch Problems
Hi all. I have a lst2 that has been giving me a few problems lately and thought I post here to see if some of you could help me out. I have now gone through two clutch bells and on to my third and now also replacing another set of slipper pads as well just after about five tanks of fuel give or take one. I have the Dynamite max life shoes and have about two gallons on them with little signs of wear. I had replaced the clutch bell and slipper pads/disks at the same time because of having the same problem before.... the slipper pad disk melted the slipper pad in the middle seizing it up, causing it to become a direct drive with no slip at all and just trashing the clutch bell with in a few tank fulls of fuel. I have backed the slipper nut back as far as I could befor it almost has no thread left at all? I am stumped? The only other thing I could have possibly thought of and don't know if this would make a difference or not, but the clutch inside the two-speed, if I had it backwards, would that have caused the problem? I already have it all tore appart and this just dawned on me this morning when I was fumbling with it all and noticed that I COULD have done that, but I am not for sure if that would make a difference in the problem or not? Please help!!!!! a

RE: EDF Predator UCAV from Nitro Planes
I had built a battery tray to put the batteries back further behind the c.g to ballance the plane better. I posted a pic of my plane on this page at the top. You can kind of see the tray, it puts the battery just in front of the fan but doesnt interupt the air flow as it's above the ducts. I don't know how well it will work as we haven't flown it yet but soon will be and will post results after we do.[:D] As far as elevator throw goes I did add longer control arms as well, so I hope I am covered there too!

RE: EDF Predator UCAV from Nitro Planes
So in other words, I take it that the Predator has no real bad flying characteristics? I had sold mine to a good friend who has yet to fly it and is planning on getting it up in the next couple of weeks and is going to let me maiden it. I can't wait to fly it as I had it in my shop for what seemed forever to me untill just the begining of the year and then came the axe from the job so it had to go. I think I may tell him to reinforce the landing gear block as well as I noticed that they did pretty much hot glue the whole plane like you stated. What is the finnished weight of your predator, Kwesdog? I had a 6cell lipoly which went with the predator when I sold it, and it came out around 7.5 lbs. My buddy was thinking of trying to go with some smaller packs in a series because the one I had is a pretty heavy Rhino pack and I know ther are a lot lighter packs out there.

RE: Toki .18 I want the real scoop
Thanks for the reply, I may go ahead and try one as there a pretty inexpensive engine and I am looking for something to just run hard not wory about and throw it in the can when I'm done after a day at the track if it gets smoked. But who knows, I might be supprised!! But I doubt it as they say...you get what you pay for.[;)] Thanks again for the reply. a

Toki .18 I want the real scoop
I have heard good and bad about the toki .18 engines but have never been around one. I always hear they only last 2 gallons or what ever but what I want is consistency. The only thing I want to know other than consistency and hold a good setting is just that, does it at least idle good and transition smoothly? I just want something to last a couple of races and throw it away if I have too. If the majority of you say yes, I probably get one....or three. Thanks a

RE: EDF Predator UCAV from Nitro Planes
I ended up selling or should say, having to sell my Predator and a few other planes to a good friend of mine due to lossing my job. I hated to have to do this but in times like this and our economy falling on it's face, I need a roof over my familys head rather than my toy's right now. My buddy told me I would be able to maiden it though, so I guess there is still an upside to selling an airplane that you really don't want but have too.... to a friend![:D]

LST2 Brake problems
I keep losing my brakes on my LST2, replaced them and after about a few tanks, it's the same thing.... no brakes or not enough to even slow the momentum of the wheels when jumping. What tricks are there or are there better pads out there to use? I have the Spektrum 3.0 and have been having some issues my self, but that may be my rx. I am looking in to it at the moment and actually have to get another rx to see if that is the probelm. I get about a hundred yards out and it will go dead on me then if I reach up the sky with my Tx I will get it back momentarily, just enough to point it my way then it comes alive after about 75 yards or so.
