RE: Nitro fuel expiration?
I've had fuel stored in my outside storage area for 4 years, During the month of December I used it on my rc truck and it ran just fine. As long as the lid is shut tight I believe it is ok, just my opinion.

RE: REDCAT RACING? ANY GOOD?
Redcat is an upcoming r/c company. I have some in my game room and have had nothing but fun with them. The Vortex is truely a good vehicle, I also own HPI, Traxxas and others. Even though some feel different about each others brand I feel Redcat is and sells good quality vehicles. I gave an Electric Vortex to my friend in Iraq, he tells me it runs bad ass. It will always depend on the user, but I feel any vehicle must be judged by the person using it. Hope this helps.

RE: Beginner to nitro(advice)?
You can go many ways, The Savage to me is easier to tune than the Traxxas, but the traxxas once tuned can provide for excellent fun. The Savage is used by many experienced r/c personel, because of its rugedness. The traxxas has a wider wheel base allowing it for better turning. There are many out there, Such as the affordable REDCAT Earthquake, it is pretty fast and dependable, however many Savage and Traxxas owners disagree. I have all three and use it differently. Redcat is a good beginner truck and experienced r/c people enjoy it as well. You must decide by the many reviews which one is for you. It depends on the motor you want, the size of the truck and how much money you are willing to dish out.

RE: tools
I purchased that same tool box at Wal-mart and I gotta say it holds more r/c stuff than any other box I've seen. It holds my r/c truck plus a gallon of fuel, including the many parts I carry. It can be wheeled anywhere. It is worth the money. Mine comes with two compartments, which come apart. It is a great deal.

RE: ordering lst xxl from other countries
I have, you need to be careful. I ordered some items and paid through Western Union and have not received my items yet. I was told they needed some more money for customs. Even though I paid what I was suppose too, they continue to ask for more money. Basically I lost my money and can't get it back. Some may be legitimate, but others are not. I contacted the BBB, but since they are located in China, they can not really do anything, but put them on the bad business list. " buyer beware!" If it was indicated that they would except paypal, maybe I would have been protected, but like many I took my chance and lost. Be careful.

RE: Havent run it in a while
Use some wd-40 to loosen up the piston, junk might have sat in. Spay some in the carb and engine, then pull the pull cord a couple of times to allow it to run throughout the engine. The use some nitro fuel and put some in the engine and carb, since it contains a little oil, it will help with the lubing process. Than play like crazy.

RE: HELP
Don't worry to much about that. My HPI does the same, it has to run at a faster speed for the front tires to engage.Check your clutch to make sure it is not too loose. I have been running REDCAT for over two years and find them to be exciting trucks. I am not trying to sell you anything, just letting you know Volcano s30 is a very good truck. I have a black one that I am playing with today in the snow. Anything else I can help you with, let me know, if I can't solve it, I will send you to a site that can.

RE: HELP
Check the tightness of you front wheel, sometimes the wheel is too tight and won't move. I had this happen before. When the tires move it is sometimes normal until you make your final adjustments. Re-set the needles back to factory setting, Go to http://www.rcuniverse.com/magazine/article_display.cfm?article_id=1005 for redcat volcano spec, 1 turn on your high end is too lean, it's so lean its choking your idle. Close the high and come out 3 turns, that will be rich but it's a start to tune. On factory Redcat engines, (made by Vertex) that don't have low end mixes, and your idle screw should be cranked in enough to give about a 1/32" opening in the carb barrel, just set the idle where its smooth but the clutch doesnt engage/truck doesn't roll away at idle. Make sure you change your glow plug once you get it running, being lean overheats them and being rich can fuel foul them, wouldnt be surprised if the one in there now isnt a bit bad by now. Once you get the engine running, don't worry about the tires moving, just run the 5 tanks. When this is don't use the remote throttle adjustment to slow the tires down. Allow a little movement, this will keep it from bogging down. When the tires move a little, it won't take off, if it does lower the control setting. Hope this helps.

RE: redcat racing
I have been racing, jumping and just all out running my 3.5 Earthquake threw the woods and every where I can run, and it is still holding up pretty good. Last week I ran it at full throttle for 3/4 tank and it screamed. The speed was awesome, even my friend who has a Team Associate .21 was impressed. Like any other truck, just take take of it and it will go a long way. I have several others. like Traxas, HPI, but find the wide body of the earthquake to have a better handle on curves. For he money the Red Cat is a good buy.

RE: RIPPED OFF?
This kind of stuff happens everywhere. I purchased two King Motor buggy from IOFFER, after paying them about $600.00, the guy sent two $10.00 buggies instead of the 1/5 scale I ordered. I contacted paypal, they would not reimburse me the money since it was not purchased at ebay. It seems they will protect you if you ordered through ebay only. The guy said he will ship from a US distributer, but was actually from China. He ripped off over 12 other customers and closed his account. IOFFER would not comment, but said "we will remove him as a seller and customer. "WOW!" what good did that do. The guy used a real store from Florida and even used there pictures, but was all a fake to lure people into thinking they were a real legitimate store. I wind up losing my money and became even more skeptical. After me, others started to come out of the wood work and complained of being ripped off. I did everything right. Asked the questions and looked at all the details of the store. He took the money and ran. I bartered from r/c universe before and was almost ripped off, but kept writing until the guy finally sent the other stuff that was included in the deal. I now wait until I receive the item and then it is when I send my stuff. On the IOFFER, there was no reviews until I posted mine. Then others came forward. Sorry this has happened to you, but believe me it will happen to others. I have been in business for a while and it even happens to me. Just be careful and thanks for letting others know, it helps.

The plastic are pretty thick and pretty durable. The front and rear bumpers stick out long enough to protect the upper and lower control arms. I've not had a problem.

RE: Redcat Earthquake 3.5 Problems
Both you guys are correct in the different methods used to force fuel into the car.You can also blow air through the exhaust pipe as well. The guy wanted some help, both you guys gave sound opinions, so lets leave it at that. Some even go out and buy a pump to push the fuel into the carb. Lets let this forum be like no other and just give advice not disagreement on how or which way is better.

RE: Redcat Earthquake 3.5 Problems
Like sparky said " check for air bubbles." I have an earth quake and placed a 2x4 under it, instead of running it around in a circle. I did this for the first tank just to break in the first tank. If the glow igniter keeps it going , don't worry. Keep it on for a 1/4 to 1/2 throttle, just to get it going. When I placed it on a 2x4 or something that will allow the tires to run freely, it allowed me to see if any bubbles were on the line. If you see the bubbles, watch as it goes into the carb, when this happens you will notice the engine dying down, this is an indicater that the fuel line needs replacement. I myself replaced the lines on my Caldera and my T-Max, it happens even on new vehicles. I own airplanes and the fuel lines are no different. I have other nitro vehicles and keep a roll of line just in case. Earthquake is a very strong and dependable truck. Beleive me I know because I run mine like crazy and it stands up to my other r/c trucks. These things happen to any and all other vehicles.

RE: t maxx problem
Something like this happened 3 days ago to my friends T-Max, he removed the bell and found the clutch was worn down. It gave some speed, but was unable to turn the bell at maximum. He added a new clutch and noticed the bearing on the bell was also needing replacement due to over heating. Check your clutch for wear.

RE: redcat racing
o.k. than you should be able to move things around. You might have to drill new holes, since the frame is ment for redcat parts. You would need traxxas parts for the engine.

RE: redcat racing
Have you used the traxxas spur gear to see if it fits the lighning? The traxxas .15 bell might need to be fitted with a traxxas spur gear to match the teeth. If you can somehow fine the traxxas bell it can work on the lightning. I have a .15 traxxas engine and looked at my lightning and found the only difference is the distance, which you might have to re-drill new holes on the frame to allow the engine to reach the spur gear. I have hpi and other bells and found they do not fit the traxxas housing. You might want to fit it with a traxxas bell. By the way, why would you want to replace a .16 with a .15?
