Also, the 1#B shows a metal head but I think that costs extra. I think it comes with a plastic head. Anyone know?

Thanks scott, it's the CF boom, which I think is unbendable (except when it breaks!).

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
Hi folks, need some help here... I had a crash last week that ended up with me replacing some parts. It's all back together, however, now I have this sort of bobbing nose problem. The nose and tail go up and down as I move the heli around. If I get it to a nearly stationary hover, the bobbing almost goes away, but as soon as I start moving around again, it comes back. I've replaced the main shaft, feathering shaft, and flybar. The flybar is perfectly centered, the blades are balanced, and the blades are tracking well. I also tried tightening and loosening the main blades to see if maybe they weren't straightening out properly. All to no avail. I'm stumped. The only thing I haven't changed is the tail rotor shaft, but it looks straight and I dont' think I hit the tail during the crash (although I'm not positive). Is the tail shaft my only option and would it cause the nose to bob up and down? Thanks for any input

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
Well, had a crash today. Third one this week! The first was just a skim on my blades which resulted in a blade change and no other damage. The second, today, was an actual crash after I got disoriented with a nose in situation. Surprisingly there was no damage at all. I couldn't believe it, I hit the ground, it tumbled, the blades folded, and I feared the worst. After an inspection, I could find no damage so I continued the flight. I was getting some really good nose in FF through the rest of that battery and into another before I hit a soccer goal! I couldn't believe I smacked into it, and the worst part was that the heli probably would have been okay if it had just been the netting, but of course it had to hit one of the structural poles of the goal too. It was just hanging there all tangled in the net about 4 feet up. Destroyed the blades, feathering shaft, and bent the flybar. I guess it could have been worse. It's all back together now and I'm waiting for my locktite to dry. The best part was that I was doing really well. I had it flying in circles out in front of me. I felt pretty good when the nose would come towards me and I was even able to slow it down and fly nose in a bit but I found that as long as I had a little bit of FF, the nose in wasn't sooo bad. Well gotta go order some more spares... :-)

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
I've been running a 2.3mm shaft on a 3300kv motor for the past year with no problems. It's got the 11T pinion and works fantastic. The only reason I am considering swapping to my 3.17mm shaft (my motor came with two shafts), is so I can use my 12T pinion (which is a 3.17 size). I don't really need the 12T on there, I'm just curious to see the performance difference. Battery, Motor, and ESC all stay very cool even when I fly 3 packs back to back.

Hey Folks, got together over at "Cflight's" house today for a little BBQ and some flying. Took a couple of short videos with my recently "upgraded" CVS (Rite-Aid) disposable video cam. Here are the links... Nothing too crazy, just having fun. They were both flying great. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JWki26ye-kA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GovWBZJWaqs

Align Speed Controls are great(IMHO). I would try another battery and/or do as George1234 says and reduce the cutoff voltage.

RE: My first outdoor FFF and Nose-in approach!!
I almost crashed today when I found myself flying nose in. I've gotten really good at doing figure 8's but I always make my turns so that at worst case, I'm "side-in." Today I tried reversing my turns and when the nose came around I freaked out. I had the thing in at least 7 90 degree turns and my altitude varied from a few inches to 25 feet. When I finally got it under control (didn't even get a scratch on it!), I had to shut it down and take several long, deep breaths. My lower back started to ache I was so nerved up. When the heartbeat fell back below 150 beats per minute, I fired it up and continued with two more battery packs. Still not quite ready for nose-in FFF. I have been able to hold a nose in hover with training gear, but I usually need a 20x20 foot area to do it in.

RE: Rite-Aid disposable Camcorder
Well, in case anyone is interested... I got my camera hacked and working well. I haven't figured out how I'm going to mount it yet, but I can easily get video off of this disposable camcorder onto my computer. The great thing is that you can get in and adjust the bitrates, etc. Hopefully, I'll have some video in the next few weeks...

RE: Official T-rex 450 XL SE Thread
Has anyone seen a difference between the align dark blue gears and the align white gears in terms of size? My Rex had a white main gear (both upper and lower) and a white gear for the tail rotor (the small one, not sure what the name is). Everything worked great. Today I decided to put on my new blue main gears (they came all in one package, I just had to add the one way bearing). Lo and behold, the lower main gear didn't even touch my very small tail rotor gear. Obviously this was no good. The tail rotor wouldn't spin. I put the white one back on and it worked perfectly again. I ended up using the blue upper main gear with my old white lower main gear. This combo seems to work fine.

RE: Rite-Aid disposable Camcorder
I'm perplexed on the battery situation. I'd like to run it right off my receiver, but my ESC/BEC is a 6V system. I think that would be too much for the camera. Maybe I could install some sort of step down regulator. I need to look into that. I'd rather not have a separate battery if I can help it.

Do you have any pix of your unit as it is now? What kind of switches did you use? I bought a couple of battery holders from radio shack today so that I can separate the batteries from the circuit board. I'm still not sure how I'm going to mount it on the rex.

Rite-Aid disposable Camcorder
Has anyone successfully used (and mounted) one of these camcorders to their T-Rex? I have read quite a bit on "hacking" into these little cameras (see http://camerahacks.10.forumer.com/ for more info). I would like to give it a shot and I recently picked one up at Rite-Aid. Seems pretty nice for the money. I am wondering if I should take it apart and try to mount the "guts" vs. trying to mount the whole camera. Thanks for any input (BTW, I would like to this without buying a camera mount kit from an online retailer like helihobby). -Mark

Hope that helps!

JD- The blades look pretty nice. cflight has a set that I've seen. They were still in the package so I'm not sure how they'll perform. Let us know, maybe I'll have to grab a set myself. My preference has been the wooden ones as they are better in a crash, but as I get better, I'd like to mount some CF blades.

Can anyone tell me how long I should wait after flying to start charging a battery? For example, I just got done flying 8 minutes on a battery pack and immediately after the flight, I measured the temp of the pack at 84.7'F. Do I need to wait to charge it or can I start right away. Typically, I wait for half hour or so, but is this necessary?
