Panel Line Tape
I'm in the final stages of building the Top Flite Giant Corsair and have run out of 1/32" chart tape to do the panel lines. Does anyone know where I can get some in a hurry? Thanks, Gary

RE: GROUP BUILD - Top Flite Giant Scale F4U Corsair
stephanmk1, I really like the British Fleet color scheme you used on your Corsair. Can you tell me what you can about the details of the paint you used like the brand, color number, and how you applied it? I'm in the final stages of glassing mine and now looking at the final colors. Anything info you can send me would be appreciated. Thanks, Gary A

RE: Top Flite Giant P47 arf IS coming
P47 Pilot and TFramer96. Thanks to both of you for the info and video/pix and encouragement. These are great looking aircraft. The question I was asking though is do you fly (take off/landings) with the published low rates or high rates? Page 31 of the manuel specifies high and low rate throws. Gary

RE: Top Flite Giant P47 arf IS coming
I'm recently retired, flew glo for many years and upon retirement decided to get back into it but with large scale warbirds. I recently purchased this TF P47 arf and have it nearly finished and should be ready to fly it (or have someone else maiden it who has more warbird flying experience then me) within a week or two. What I'd like to know is which control throws do you use for take off and landing? The manuel shows 2 travel rates both high and low. Is low for normal take off/landing and general flight and high rates for more hot dogging? Any flying set-ups recommendations especially for someone like me who is new to the large warbird scene would be appreciated. I'm more into realistic and slower flight ....ripping holes in the sky at high knots of speed is something I'll leave to others far more proficient then me Thanks, Gary

RE: Top Flite Giant P47 arf IS coming
I'm new to giant scale and recently purchased this arf which I've nearly finished. What is the best method to balance such a large and heavy warbird? Thanks, Gary A

Batteries/ Charging - Large Scale Warbirds
I'm currently building a Top Flite giant Corsair and assembling a Top Flite Giant P47 ARF. As recommended I'm installing 2 separate batteries (6V @2700Mah) for the receiver and a separate battery (4.8 v @2700Mah) for the gas engine ignition. The questions are: - do I need a separate charge jack for each battery or can I parallel charge the 2 receiver batteries? These are both NiMh batteries. - what charger are folks using to charge batteries in large scale airplanes? I'm hoping to purchase 1 charger to charge all 3 batteries. I've been flying 40 and 60 glo size aircraft for some time so large scale in a completely new world for me so any experienced suggestion would be appreciated. Thanks, Gary A

RE: RE:
Walt, I'm from New Brunswick, not that far from New Hampshire, so you know exactly what "the white stuff" is all about. I've purchased the KMP Beaver, the small version, and hope to put skies on it, for winter flying. I'm not sure if it will be this winter but it will be for some winter soon. Take care and again thanks for your help, Gary

RE: Unionville
Thanks Mike. Between you and Walt I think I've enough info to get this corrected. Somehow I managed to get 2 postings on this unintentionally and both brought great and useful responses. Hopefully this weekend with that info I'll get some successful taxi trails in. Gary

RE: RE:
Thanks Walt for all the info and your time answering my questions. I've just printed the float info off and will be spending the next few days digesting it, a day or 2 in making adjustments and hopefully the weekend to try her again......that's of course if the temperature stays nice. We're pretty close to that season when the white stuff can fall anytime. Gary

RE: RE:
Walt, This is my first real float plane so if I appear as a float plane ludite chances are I am! When you say relative to the floats does that mean I measure the wing incidence with the top of the floats level? If that is the case what should the wing incidence be? Tks, Gary

RE:
The wing is mounted tight to the fuselage cradle which is as I understand susposed to give a slight positive angle of incidence. I've just ordered an incidence meter and will check it. Thanks, Gary

Unionville "6" Beaver"
I've just finished building the 6"Unionville Beaver and did some taxing today. All was going well until a bit of wind came up making the water choppy and with the ac pointed into the wind and a bit of power added she nosed in all the way with the tail proudly pointing skywards! After retreiving the plane I was able to drain all the water, thankfully none got into the fuselage but certainly the engine got a good dunking. I pulled the glow plug, turned it over with the electric starter to ensure I got all the water out of it and started it up without too much of an issue and let it run to make sure it was ok. My question is why did it nose in? I'm running 36" Hangar 9 ARF floats mounted pretty much in the landing gear blocks. I aligned the float step to the recommended CoG. The floats are forward of the cowling front by 7". I'm running the OS 46 with a Bison muffer. When the water was calm with no wind it taxied pretty good. I'm new to float flying so any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks, Gary

RE: Great Planes Cherokee ARF
I'm really impressed with your GP Cherokee configured as a floatplane and just purchased one. Did you add any reinforcement to the bottom of the fuselage to accept the float mountings? How about CG where did you position the float step? After flying with yours for this period would you recommend anything? Appreciate anything you can send me. Tks, Gary
